you would be extremely foolish to blow that 2.5 up. those used motors are in high demand and bring a pretty penny

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info. I'll post it up for sale a month before I pull it.

Too bad about the 5 speed in your TJ. I know they used to use the weak AX5's in the 4 cyl in the YJ's. I can't remember what they put in the TJ's somewhere they started using the NV3550 which I'm told is pretty strong for stock use.
I have a 5 cylinder Turbo diesel from a 83 Merceces 300SD to go in my YJ. I bought my adapter from www.mercedesdiesel4x4.com/ very good guys to deal with. That being said I already had the engine and if I had to do it over again I would put a Kubota V2203 or a 1.9L TDI VW engine. I have a 1.9L TDI in my 01 Beetle and it does just awesome. ua-cam.com/video/yVPbLjhtqGU/v-deo.html Guy has a TJ with a VW TDI. at about 2:11 in the video the front drivers tire comes off the ground in a clutch dump take off with a mostly stock TDI and as you may already know performance are plentiful.

I'm looking at a NV3550 or most likely an AX15 for my transmission. I read the they have a max of 300ftlb of torque, but I heard I could take them to 400ftlb without too much problems. I'm actually glad the AX5 was broken because the jeep was cheaper. I knew the AX5 would be remove for the swap so its not a problem at all. I have an HD automatic from a HD NPRM truck but its longer than a 4l80e. I'm still working out the details on the swap.

Yea some AX15 can stand up to a small block chevy as lond as you don't beat on it. I have the AX15 for my YJ 5 cylinder swap. That Isuzu 4BD1T should fit. I don't know if I have seen anybody swap one into a Jeep but there are a few 3.9 Cummins Jeeps so it should fit.

I really beat on my old YJ like she owned me money and it held up pretty good. Thats the main reason I want to stick with an AX15. Have you posted details about your bens/ jeep swap? The main problem with the 4bd1t is the trans adapter. I have only found one site that carries the adapter and they charge a premium.

Nick Tullos I have not made a video on my YJ swap but there are plenty of other ones on oilburners.net I think.

Nick Tullos yeah I forgot about the adapter that would be a roadblock I have never made my own adapter but I've watched several videos on guys that make their own adapter it doesn't look like it would be that difficult. And the crank spacer would probably have to have a machinist make it for you and that might cost a couple dollars but shouldn't be too bad either.
