- In this video, we will be comparing two of KEF's most popular bookshelf speakers - the LS50 Meta and the LS50 Anniversary Edition.

Own both the Metas and the OG LS 50's. Drive them with the Purifi Eigentact amp. I use dual SVS SB 2000 subs, cross them over at 150 hz with Dirac Live DLBC. The speakers are withing 24" of the sub, so integration at that high a crossover point is not an issue. I find that setting gives me less distortion in the bass, and I can play everything 3-6 db louder. I have had the OG LS 50s since 2015 and bought the Metas in May 2021. As soon as I got the Metas, I relegated the OGs to surround duty in my 5.1 system with the Metas as my L-R, and a Kef HTC 3001 SE "Egg" speaker as my center.
The bass response on the frequency response graphs starts to drop around 150hz, but isn't super noticeable until after 80hz on the non-metas. So 150hz is definitely worth trying, glad it worked for you. That is a nice system. I use my Meta's as computer speakers, and keep the many towers in my listening room/entertainment system.
