My father suffered from depression at the end of his life and the last time we heard him laugh out loud was while watching Fools and Horses.
Aw bless him ❤
My dad had dementia but no matter how bad he got he loved fools and horses, I bought at least 3 box sets for him but even just talking about different episodes could bring him out of himself and start him laughing like mutley lol
My granddad had a major stroke. Business savvy, he was gone. Mentally, a shell. It was hard to see. My dad struggled. His best friend was no longer and couldn't even stand. We'd all watch OFAH together and he would laugh too. Del Boy and Rodders came through. Granddad still understood. Fuck.. Some of the shittest but best memories. I hear ya. He never got back to the uk before he died (immigrated us all to New Zealand) but one day I'll get back home for him to the East End
The best sitcom ever made. I watch it all the time, and it never gets old.
What's your favorite episode
@@user-ie9ym5rq2z Friday the 14th. Yours?
Oh it gets old when it all U.K. gold have shown every weekend for about the last 3 years maybe longer
@@user-ie9ym5rq2zthe jolly boys outing was by far my favourite but they were all top class.
@@Terrykinrade that's mine as well tbh
When we all had a sense of humour. Thanks for the upload.
As a yank, I lived in the UK from 81-92. I fell in love with Only fools and horses! Truly it is one of THE funniest sitcoms ever written and acted!
RIP Grandad. Absolute legend.
' During the war '
I liked that one, was he uncle?
@@sTraYa249uncle Albert said that
A sitcom you never get tired of watching, pure british comedy gold, every character were brilliant and dels french 😂😂😂😂superb love it
Not goodbye just bonjour
Mange-tout, mange- tout 😂
Living in South Africa we obviously couldnt watch the series....but then friends from sarf London started sending videos across. Such wonderful memories of the funniest comedies ever.
One of them shows we all miss but know it will never be able to come back
The parg when dell is in the posh bar is the best part ofthe whole show cracks me up almost everytime 🤣
I watch this over and over john sulivans writing is fabulous
I was working in a house around the back of the royal albert hall that had a ballroom in the back. It was being done up their was me and the interior designer with me and a painter hand painting what looked like roman figures on the arched ceiling and a man replacing the droplets back on a chandelier, i later found out he was working for a company i believe called galleon lights. I was working on a window so i had my back to all this and getting on with my job when a crashing sound like i have never heard before or since made me turn around to see the young painter looking totally shocked and a middle aged man still up his stepladder holding a droplet. I will never forget what he said "this has never happened to me before" i would have laughed but just then the lady of the house came in. When i went back to the same job i found out the chandelier was priceless. Do not know what the outcome was but the chandelier company blamed the builders for not making sure the wooden beam was in good condition and the builders blamed the chandelier company.. Never found out the outcome of it all but i bet it was a long expensive legal battle. As i write this i can still hear the sound of crashing crystal as it hit the wooden dance floor.
The best comedy of all time in my opinion, and so many great episodes to choose from with the jolly boys outing being my all time favourite episode.
One of my all time favourites series! What a wonderful documentary!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The greatest comedy ever. 💯🇯🇲🇬🇧👍
Marlene is my all time favourite female comedy character. Brilliant actress.
Best show that ever has been on British TV, I loved it watching it as a little kid, all the family around the TV, and laughing are heads off every week. And the Christmas specials......it made Christmas better, just because of that to look forward to watch. The Internet has changed people's lives and relationships for the worse. !!
Yes, it did. Shame!
Love the video. Thank you. OF&H is a timeless masterpiece.
A work of pure genius. Just everything from script to set to casting was 100% spot on. I really doubt we will ever see it’s equal.
Greatest TV show of all time.. This classic will never die
My favourite bit was del having a drink at the bar when they lifted the pub top up and del learnt then fell soo simple but like alot of scenes simplicity was king 😂😂
It's as funny now as it was back then, the greatest comedy duo ever! They were perfect for each other, the chemistry was obvious. The first time i watched " Loathe Story" i thought i was gonna die from laughing. I grew up with Steptoe and Son, and in my view it's miles ahead of the so called comedy we have today. Sadly missed ( both of them)
It was a Huge hit, here in Australia,-we could not get enough,of the show,--when it was on,-the "Pubs here, were empty"--yeah-"Fools"--& Minder,--best British comedy "EVER"--
Stringer Aka Aussie in Go West Young Man and Who wants to be a millionaire does a fantastic Aussie accent. Jasons ok at it too. I think londoners tend to be quite good at the accent.
Also larry lamb nailed it in Minder!
Gday fella
I am old enough to have grown up watching ' The Paul Hogan Show ' & I liked it a lot, but Strop.... I never found him at all amusing
Best show ever written, laughs tears and memories.
Writing high end comedy with scenes that can make you cry and all this working together to produce such an emotional mix.......what a talent .....!
There have been some memorable comedy shows to wax lyrically on like Porridge or Rising Damp but 'Only Fools And Horses' is the zenith of comedy writing and acting.........🥰
The greatest British sitcom ever made . Even today it still stands up against modern comedy. Loved it when i was going up , watching it with my old man . My dad never laughed at comedy but only fools had him in stitches 😅
English sitcom.
How could they not want to renew OFAH after Series Two ? The first time that I saw it was when I tuned half-way into "Ashes for Ashes". I thought it was BRILLIANT and was immediately hooked for life.
I always fancied Sue Holderness and still do.😍
Yeah, all the guys fancied Sue
Absolutely fantastic
Ive noticed a lot of story lines are similar to Steptoe and son. John must of been a fan.
one of the best British comedy of all times
They missed the episode when cassandra lost the baby ,and dell said to rodneytrotters never cry, then dell boy cried his eyes out😂
They cover it here, that episode.
That scene was priceless. To imagine how that could be incorporated in a comedy programme is incomprehensible.
The fact that we all managed to burst out laughing somehow⁉️
love that sitcom got the hole series on dvd and i still watch it to this day great show
"WHOLE" not hole😂
If you have all the episodes on DVD then I have some bad news for you.... most of the episodes are cut and were not the versions shown originally on TV.
Crazy Banana and Lord Heath take no prisoners 😂

thank you so much for this, been trying to find it for ages
A classic that would never be made today.
Yes, because it was so funny, not like the crap today.
Trigger fell through a bar. Hilarious

The scenes of people walking in london...look a hell of a lot different nowadays. I miss the 80s.
one error i noticed, it wasnt Busters first role as someone said. he did 4 or 5 things before it.
Mostly amateur dramatics with the drama group at the bank he worked for. This was his first proper fully speaking TV acting role.
@@JacknVictor not according to
IMDB
@@markorollo. There were three series about three TV shows he was on before fools and horses, 1 of them he said about 5 words on, the others he had every few scenes on, and we're basically small bit parts, he wasn't much more than an extra he wasn't part of the main cast or anything.
Only fools was his first proper acting job, and he got to be one of the main actors and part of the main cast.
Bizarrely , he had a role with Leonard pierce , who he obviously went on to replace, in a 1980 tv role called song for a nightingale!
Who ever wrote triggers pork pie when del boy falls, just off the cuff is the genius
Why did it ever have to end we need that sort of feel good humour in our lives more than ever in this world of hate, absolute shame the BBC are incapable now of producing comedy of that level these days. From an Irish fan of this gem.
As time went on it like ( ALL COMEDY).
it got weaker n weaker.
So yeah it had to end.
The beeb isn't up to much, but running down anything English 🏴
😢
Prior to OFAH, Buster Merryfield was in the TV series Shroud of a Nightingale. Amazingly, Leonard Pierce was also in the series which starred Roy Marsden, who played Danny Driscol in OFAH.
Thanks so much for this great salute to what must be the best sitcom ever.
Fabulous stories and brilliant acting, unforgettable situations and a great laugh to so very many.
RIP to all the cast members and back room people that have left the stage.
This, fawlty towers and porridge are unbeatable best comedy’s ever made
David Jason played many Characters and was never typecast as Del. However, any time you see Nicholas Lyndhurst, you think “Rodney”
Goodnight Sweetheart
I remember watching heroes & villains at my dad's friends place & his mate proposed to his now wife at the end of the episode
I usually watch OFAH in December before Christmas
Best TV show ever by a country mile & my only 2 quibbles with the show was the awful A Royal Flush episode which should have stayed in the can & it should have ended forever when Del-Boy, Rodney & Uncle Albert walked into the sunset....
You say that but then we'd never have had some of the laughs from the eventual last three episodes. The France trip and all the Uncle Albert lookalikes, GARRRREEEEEEE! Some of those scenes were just fantastic. I was falling about watching them.
Time on our Hands should 100% have been the last episode, leave it with them finally on top and as the Millionaires they always wanted to be.
Lets not forget steptoe & son.
👍🏻❤️
I refuse to watch the last few episoodes, they made it and thats good enough for me!
You're not missing out. The episodes after the 1996 Christmas special are crap. The ropey, predictable, tired cultural references of the late nineties and early 2000's are cringe.
@@user-ce6uq3dn9oif they could see us now was good and strangers on the shore has moments. As for Sleepless in Peckham that ones just dull. I do acknowledge that a lot of the cultural references were just filler. And have not aged well though..
I largely agree. But in fairness to sleepless, that had the ominous job of tying up the whole “are they / aren’t they brothers “ bit and rounding off the whole 22 years. Not easy. I think the acting in it , is wonderful in places.
I tend to agree with the OP. But the reality is Del would have messed that up royally - it's pre-built into him - so it's not particularly unbelievable he would have lost that wealth. Whether we wanted to see all that though, is another matter. The final episode with Rodney's true paternal parentage was rather touching, if only they could have merged that into those final three 1996 specials, that would have been perfect.
There's plenty of real life examples of some people who come into enormous wealth (like lottery winners) from a position of being just average , where it totally destroys their lives. Be careful what you wish for. And if you do get it - be sensible and modest.
@@philrob1978 Both Rodney and his Mrs work in banking and would not have all of there assets tied up in one stock that Del had the final say on!. All that aside Del represents the dreamer in us all , When he made it, we all made it. So when he failed ... You get the point I'm making!
you had me at rays butt 🤣🤣
The greatest program ever
The episode where they go to a Séance and Triggers says The Trotters mother sounded like Jimmy Savile
A joy to watch.
The guy 7.43 was Hank Hood ex para and offshore medic, sadly passed away, was Medic on Magnus in North sea
The best sit com ever
A touch of glass and whos a pretty boy are my absolute favourites lol i grew up watching this and I still watch it
Nicholas Lyndhurst got to show just how great he is in the lift scene when he & Cassandra lose their baby.
When Christmas was special. Fantastic TV 😂
i was putting up light fittings with my mate at an old blokes house he was fitting a small chandalier in the next room and i heard a crash . wtf went through and it was on the floor . i asked wot happened and the old bloke said dellboys just bust the shandalier lol couldnt believe it
American, here. BBC is always interesting because they cast actors who are not "conventionally attractive". In U.S. television (still today) they will cast you for proper teeth and hair before acting talent.
Series 1,2 with orig. grandad was easily the best.
My mum used to say the same. She liked the authenticity and relate-ability, that people look like "regular" people
I remember watching A Royal Flush on Christmas Day with my family. It was excruciating. I remember it making me feel embarrassed to be working class. It was sneering, uncouth and cruel.
We still watch it , nothing to touch it is there ?
A Royal Flush is hard to watch from the dinner scene towards the end. Del is obnoxious and I quite often used to zone out or switch off at that art, so it's good to see it's not just me that struggles with that part. It's like Del Boy, but turned up to 11 and it doesn't quite suite him. He normally interferes, but this is all about him.
Agreed it was a hard watch indeed. But I have to admit, Del turning up for the Clay Pigeon Shoot with a pump-action shotgun was a classic Del-Boy move.
Totally agree..... Rarely watch that one just after the shotgun scene then it's game over
THATS a bloody divinci.
I'm not sure.. I actually like the uncut broadcast version. It displays his cunning. I find the cut dvd version awkward
I’ve only ever seen this episode once and have never watched it again.
I KNOW THE SCRIPT BUT STILL WATCH IT
Don't we all buddy...😅
Channel 5 really do know how to do these types of shows - a very cheap concept, using the regular talking heads intermixed with clips, really makes an interesting and light show to enjoy. Why couldn't the BBC do this? Why leave it to Channel 5 to look back at the BBC comedies of old?
The chandelier story actually happened in real life and it was adapted for the programme.
Well done you watched the video too
I have Royal Flush on VHS not DVD though
I’ve only watched it once coz it really upset me. Huge mistake IMO.
Poor old Don Warrington and Bill Reynolds
Why are they showing a German type-writer at 08:17? I think someone in the library messed up.
Nothing about one of the stars and the glider club? And the company he keeps? Birds of a feather!
" I never laid a hand on your mother rodney..... except in self defence"...😅😅😅😅
Growing up talking about only fools on Monday at school then at work on Monday if going out on Saturday the old vHS tape recording come out with meany past only fools taped on it
Only Fools was great, but they should’ve left it alone when Del and Rod sold the watch and made their millions. It went seriously downhill after that.
Shows always go downhill when they add extra characters, like girlfriends and wives.
@@Andrew-fy9wuThat wasn’t the reason, Cassandra and Raquel were perfect additions, as was Uncle Albert. I just think they took it too far when they lost all their money!
@user-fq8rs7rz3i
No, the best episodes were with grandad, the first three series. Then with uncle Albert. Like most shows when they started adding wives and girlfriends, shows aren't as good.
Series 2 ofah is my favourite, surprised nobody liked it initially.
I recall watching the very first episode big brother way back in 81 and i watched the very last one nothing ever seems to replace it think nothink will the humour as change you cant say the things they said british humour changed you cant say plonker its absolutely nonsense
Boycie is my favourite
Its a shame that what we see of the episodes now have been edited to pieces by people who think they have the right to decide what they think we want to watch...snowflakes
Why no mention of trigger?
Could have done without the narrator constantly trying to copy the accents.. got grating very swiftly!
Royal Flush always disturbed me, and was an episode I felt uncomfortable about, especially how Del Boy is horrible.
I feel happy that they did not like it either
Im sorry it hurt your feelings.
@@Andrew-fy9wu I am sorry you are such a sad and pathetic person, but it will not make any difference.

Personally, I believe the last episode should have been when they become millionaires.
Shame it went on a series or 2 too long. And making them millionaires a mistake. Still a brilliant show though.
Secrets & Scandals bit of stretch mildly interesting not thing that wasn't already seen or known
Royal flush,I seen the original thought it was good, whatching the cut version years later I new there were scenes missing, I think they should have left it original.
It was n is the best
Miami twice was terrible and the later ones with Dels son were pretty crap too...
Youll be doing another of these vids when a certain someone takes his last breath, the stuff thats going to come out......
I've a david jason one? ua-cam.com/video/iSl8RqOm-Qc/v-deo.html
The stupid title, and the stupid voiceover kind of demeans the fact that OFaH transcends televisions and is art. It is perfection.
Groan.... get over yourself!
I really liked OFAH for the first 8 years, after 1989 it got too silly, soap opera-ish and lost all reality. Sullivan missed a trick and should have paired Del Boy with Junie, that would have made it more realistic, believable and more funny than him being paired up with that awful Raquel !!!
Series 6 is solid, I like 7 but I agree Raquel is a weak character and just pulls Del down all the time
Apparently Sue Holderness has stepped up and made her views clear that in "today's society" sitcom isn't funny anymore! I could not agree more but its society which is wrong and is now too busy complaining about the least little thing that gets them worked up and start to complain wildly about anything they don't agree with only fools is the stalwart of uk comedy for years and always will be! to the moanners I say this: all you have to do is turn off the channel to something else.. possibly repeats of love they neighbour how that then!!!
IMO Cassandra ruined the show for me.
Dont like Royal Flush, I find it very cringey.
Completely agree, it was so wrong some how. I think it was because I didn’t laugh a real laugh, I just squirmed and looked away. I’ve never watched it again.
"A little bit woo, wit way" What does that mean?
Its based on a flash character from the fast show
All that bollocks about 24 million viewers.... so what? 'Steptoe and Son' (which John Sullivan nicked most of his material from) regularly got 28 million viewers per episode and even had the date of a general election changed as politicians feared no one would go and vote in they timed it with the transmisson of the comedy!
Imagine Liz Hurley in Fools and Horses! She is a stunner and is a better actor than Cassandra's actor. Very interesting to think about. Imagine Rodney with a stunning girlfriend though. I'm not sure it would have suited him as Cassandra seems more realistic as a partner for Rodney. You'd expect Del to have a bird like Liz Hurley with all the glamour etc.
Liz Hurley can't act for shit 😂
Yeah Hurley is another Meryl Streep
Hurleys not a good actress or actor as we say now 😂. Shes passable because shes hot but shes not close to joan collins standard.
A royal flush is my favourite
I don’t believe you!
I loved OFAH except the Royal Flush episode that wasn`t funny, it was cringe worthy and embarrassing.
I can remember going into work the following day and we all thought the same.
For me it was never the same after grandad died didn't like the uncle albert character.
Just my opinion.
Fair enough, I thought it went up a notch when Albert arrived. The last three episodes in the 00s were terrible though!
I preferred Uncle Albert.
