He was still a giant fucking horndog in Dragon Ball as well, but he got sidelined hard starting in Z. It got to the point that him being powerful enough to compete in the Tournament of Power was an absurdity that only worked because it was fanservice.
@@nakedmario9359 because it's true, fucking idiot Roshi himself LITERALLY says Goku isn't a hero in the 23rd tournament saga, and Goku himself says he is NOT fighting to save the world and he does NOT care about protecting Earth at all, and then refuses to become the new Kamisama Did any of you ever watched the fucking series?
I'd like to point out that while, yes, Roshi's lessons shaped Goku's views, it was Kami that really made him understand how precious all life was. Roshi worked to keep the boys humble despite their strength, Kami worked to make Goku appreciate all things.
They hold roshi to such a high esteem because of what he does for tien. He purified his corrupt soul in a single act of selflessness. He made tien watch as he walked off to certain death in his stead. Told him to live a happy life and to tell goku he was proud. Goku always sees the better in his adversaries after that

Master Roshi shows his philanthropist side a few times, like curing a werewolf after the moon got destroyed by Roshi's own hand... simply using Kurriran's/Krillian's shiny bald head and a bit of hypnotism.
It was nice to see the aftermath in the anime. The manga just left it at Nam saying goodbye to Roshi and the readers were left to assume that everything turned out well.
One of the many things I've learned from dragon ball is to be kind and treat people with respect and kindness and help those people less fortunate than your self R I.P. Akira Toriyama thank you for everything.
I love these moments like this in DB or the Tournament of Power. He has a great character under all of the pervy jokes. Serious Roshi is the GOAT. That Final Kamehameha and Goku and Krillin thinking he died may be my favorite Roshi moment in the series. Goku and Krillin teared up, Goku sounded like a kid again in the Japanese version(its subtle, but Nozawa definitely pitched the voice up a little when she screamed), and Sean killed it in that scene too.
That's why OG Dragon Ball is my favourite... It's just magical and special... this was the first anime I watched, and it still is one of my favourite, even after 20 years after watching it for the first time
Even when roshi was old he was always that reliable goat of wisedome in dragon ball but now he's reduced to an crazy old version of Jonny Bravo but i still love him tho because he's so reliable!!😁
Master Roshi may be a perv, but he goes to show how much of a good man he really is by helping others. And without master roshi, goku and krilling wouldn’t have become incredible fighters once they became adults.
I watched Dragon Ball Super Broly for the first time ever today. It was amazing! But with the passing of Akira Toriyama, it was bittersweet. 😞😥 That man and his genius creation was a part of all our childhoods and he holds a very special place in all of our hearts. We've lost a lot of people since 2020, but none hit harder than the loss of Mr. Toriyama! I wonder what he's creating out there on the other side. 🤔 I can't wait to find out.
My favorite dragon ball character. He was so smart and such a skilled fighter. As time went on, they brushed aside all the skills he had. So many to choose from.
This goes to show master Roshis' true character. Everyone believes him to be just an old pervert but in reality, he is a kind, wise, and respectful person who has trained some of the most powerful people in existence....he just also like's pretty girls haha.
Nam was the shit. One of the dopest side characters in Dragon Ball. The biggest problem with Dragonball Z was making all of the human characters unnecessary. They made them all ridiculously weak compared to saiyans and that sucks for awesome characters like Nam, and the best human of them all Tien.
They cut out the part where Master Roshi responds to the question of “How did you know I needed water?” with: “Minds are like books, if you know how to read them”

At least that Barbie woman will live like the dolls forever because you know how the soul is transferred into those dolls in reality so she might one day if she ever passes away at least her soul will be inside of one of those doll

And then Goku does the same thing (kinda) in the end of Z there we meet Uub a boy from a village wanting to use the prize money to buy stuff to save it then Goku sees his potential and goes with him to help his village and train Uub
Master Roshi is the real goat. People only remember him for his frivolous nature in Z and Super, but in DB, he was a real OG.

This is what made the kid story so wholesome, it was about helping individual communities. Sometimes that also included punching people

“That’s great, but did you win the tournament?”
I don't think they would care if he won the tournament or not since the only thing matter from him is he get the water or not
Rip to the voice actor for roshi he will never be missed
this made me genuinely smile
The two tournament arcs alone make DB the best dragonball anything
