Nam used his strength to serve his village, grandpa Gohan gave Goku a home and the resources to fend for himself. Goku has saved countless lives. Strength is a good thing to work on but it's ultimately a means to an end power responds to a need. When we seek power we meet others that share our journey. When we have power we can help others on their own journey. Toriyama told such a good story, of a boy wandering into the wild world to find strength and in finding it he found so much more, love, companionship and many wonders. As a Martial artist myself I sometimes look back to these old episodes and can't help but see memories that are similar.

I remember I was a kid prob 6 o 7 years old and cried of happiness, and even now 25 years laters Im brought to tears. People can say whatever they want, but Dragon ball teached many about the evils in the world, how to train and prepare to fight it and being kind and a friendly individual to all.
I NEVER forgot this... It taught me a privilege of mine at such a young age. This man was willing to travel, fight in a tournament, and risk injury to help his village get water... We're very lucky here in the U.S.

This was Akiras true love. DBZ and super didn't have the same effort. He himself said he didn't really want to continue after the og but the fans wanted more. Goku was supposed to die in cell games while Gohan would have been the MC but the fans wanted goku back. Even without the same love he had for the og he still gave what the fans wanted.

I kind of wished the later sagas had stuff like this. It is entertaining seeing good fight evil, but wholesome moments like this. I would have loved to see some of the Z fighters do something like this, where we can see Goku, Piccolo maybe Vegeta help out folks in different ways, on Earth and on other planets.

Namus story was short but he got the ending he deserved. All of what he did he did for his people, the only reason he entered that tournament despite his fighting prowess was to see his people prosper. I won't lie, reading the conclusion to his story in the manga brought a smile to my face.

Namus story was short but he got the ending he deserved. All of what he did he did for his people, the only reason he entered that tournament despite his fighting prowess was to see his people prosper. I won't lie, reading the conclusion to his story in the manga brought a smile to my face.
