Tip for those who are using a 3-section tripod, but don't need to use the full height of the tripod. Extend the middle section (leaving the bottom section inside the tube), then the top section. This will ensure the tripod has as much rigidity as possible! Having been a landscape/nature photographer for decades, I've come to use this technique a lot when I am shooting lower than full height! The new tripod design looks slick as hell...I dig it!!!!!!!!!
Had my mind set on a TwoVets tripod until I kept seeing the Fatboy name coming up. Checked UA-cam and there were quite a few videos from your channel which initially made me think you were probably the typical shills we keep seeing in the industry. After watching just one of them it's obvious you guy's are coming from an informed shooters position and not from a sales pitch position. Appreciate the comprehensive reviews. I'm sold
No BS, just ordered this off Amazon about 1/2hr ago, and hit UA-cam to check out some reviews. Lucky I stumbled on this one, and immediately saw that I fucked up lol (got the regular 2-position). Cancelled the order, and re-ordered the “Elevate” through you guys. Y’all do solid reviews on stuff, appreciate the work! 🇺🇸

Excellent Video, I been thinking about getting a different bipod I just found one will add yours to my wish list. Love watching all your videos keep up the good work. Ron
Another great video. I guess you better have the new two piece and head and probably the side chick on the trailer in September. Definitely going to pick one up.
Great video! I've been researching a bit myself and looked at the Two Vets, Athlon, Vortex, and RRS, and I've made up my mind after watching your video. I wanted to buy from you guys but you don't accept PayPal. I guess I'm gonna wait till Fatboy has a sale. Thanks!
No sorry, we don’t accept Pay Pal. Bc we are a 2A company pay pal closed our account and stole $8K. We got some back after hiring a lawyer but we’re on PayPal do not fly list for nothing more than exercising constitutional rights. If you support 2A, then don’t support PayPal. If you email us we can work other payment options. Thanks, Gary
I will be picking up one of these soon. On another topic about bipods, I think I saw one of your videos with a bipod that had an adapter that slid the bipod forward and backward in the same plane/parallel to the ARCA rail. Please let me know of you have or are familiar with anything like that. Thanks for your great product reviews.
In the looking for stage right now comparing different options,,,,including a clamp mount for my sporter rifles like benelli r1 with no rails or arca,,,
You mentioned that arca rail should have standardized the size of the rail. What arca rail adapter do you recommend for this ball head so that i can use it with my spotting scope, binoculars or camera?
Would there be any problem if I shorted the longer threaded portion of the side chick to the same length as the short side? It seems like it would be easy enough to do and it would prevent damage to the ball should it be attached backwards.
Good clip …. Btw: why don’t you go for a HDuty photo gear? The shooting company’s are just useless with the new gear…. Photo industry is much older and better …. Give us pros and cons!
I would go with the 60 for sure for hog hunting. I see the 40 for backwoods or alpine hunt where you’re up for long treks and every ounce counts. Or honestly, for hogs go with the Levitate that I just released a review. We’re also giving a tripod and a Levitate away. Fatboy Levitate - Best Tripod and Ball Head ua-cam.com/video/_yoHEGI27DY/v-deo.html Hope that helps. -Gary
Please forgive my newness. New to tripods. Been firing powder burners all my life and still have plenty that I lost in a terrible boating accident. Especially here in California. I’ve recently picked up a new interest in airguns. Being virtually no recoil and the lighter weight, would you recommend the Deathgrip infinite or the Fatboy? I do like the ball head the fatboy offers. Can I add a fatboy ball head to a Deathgrip at a later date? I have a Harley fatboy, and a DonnyFl Fatboy moderator. Do you sense a theme going? Ha Thank you for your service and will be placing my first order with you soon. -Jas
Depends on how serious you are or plan on getting into it. Recoil is less a consideration than just stability while shooting. I will tell you if you’re shooting distance and you shoot using a FatBoy then go try to shoot off the Deathgrip back to back… you’ll never want to shoot off thre Deathgrip again. The difference is profound. The Deathgrip is a good value for the money and not everyone needs to spend $1000 on a tripod but man, shooting off those is like shooting from prone. The combined stability you get from the tripod and the ball head is nuts. Thanks for watching! -Gary
I can't decide between 2 or 3 sections. What do you recommend for 1st tripod purchase? Using it for long range shooting (6mm arc AR15), not into competition yet. So for now mainly used at flat range 1000 yards plus.
@@InkwellFoto awesome! I saw your order come through. We appreciate the business! 🙏 Did you need a ball head too or do you have one already? The tripods and the ball heads are sold separately.
Have you tested the Vortex Radian and their two heads against the FatBoys? Bot look very similar. I would love to see that comparison down the road. I definitely like the way the FatBoy legs deploy versus the others, but I also like the no questions asked lifetime warranty of the Vortex. I probably would have ordered the FatBoy, but didn't know anything about them. so I purchased the Vortex and both heads.
@@TheBowdoc1 and yes, I have tested them. Just used them a couple of weeks ago. The FatBoys tripods are much more stable and IMO the heads significantly outperform Vortex.
Richie, when I started looking at top tier tripods I was determined to carry a brand that was made in USA. Unfortunately the only one I could find that was is Really Right Stuff and an equivalent tripod was $1500 WITHOUT a head so you’re looking at $1800 for an equivalent setup. Going back even further I was determined to only carry merchandise that was USA made, it’s just not realistic. Lots of items simply have no USA Made options or they’re so expensive they don’t make sense. It’s unfortunate but it’s a political issue. Politicians have and continued to incentivize moving production to china specifically.
@Paramount Tactical I'm not even dead set on American made. I just wish it was made in a country that wasn't so against everything we stand for. Pay a living wage in a free country that don't hate us should be achievable. It's incredibly sad that the incentive structure is totally against that.
You can’t take money with you but you can surround your sarcophagus with all your sweet shooting gear when you die. Just like Tutankhamen, you’ll be remembered forever! You’re welcome! 😎
Well first of all we’re not FatBoy so we don’t set prices. Secondly you don’t know you’re talking about because BOG tripods are around $400 and they don’t even compare to FatBoy tripods in quality or performance. Thirdly, they do compare in price and still outperform by a wide margin both Two Vets tripods which are similarly priced and Really Right Stuff Tripods which are even more expensive than FatBoy Tripods. It’s like someone that doesn’t know the first thing about cars asking why isn’t the Ferrari priced the same as a Hyundai. So I’m sorry to say you are uninformed and don’t know the market. As a dealer I can tell you they seemed to be priced right because we can’t keep them in stock. Thanks for watching. -Gary
I do all the time.this ball head works great but for videography, I prefer the levitate. It feels like a fluid head. I actually prefer the levitate for shooting and filming. Here’s the review on it. Fatboy Levitate - Best Tripod and Ball Head ua-cam.com/video/_yoHEGI27DY/v-deo.html
😂I don’t speak hieroglyphs but I’m assuming you’re saying they’re expensive. They are. But they’re still cheaper than most of the popular top tier tripods that aren’t nearly as good. This is why we carry BOG as well. If you’re not a serious LR shooter or hunter, you probably don’t need FatBoy tripods. You can get a decent tripod for under $400. Thanks for watching! -Gary

Buy once and be Done with a Fat Boy Tripod! Love mine! The ball head is great!
Was able to shoot a 1/2 minute group with this Tripod standing with a Bog for a rear support.
Great video! What colorway is the MPA rifle in the beginning of the video? FDE or Burnt Bronze? Just curious. Hoping to place an order soon.
Hello!
What size male threads are on the bowls of these tripods?
Also, is there any particular reason you don't stock the invert40?
Thanks!

Hi Gary having just got my fat boy set up. Noticed the handles on the bag are long enough to use as a rucksack

I don’t think so. I thought about doing it myself.
Will the invert 40 Ballhead work with my two vets “the kit”?
Can you please tell me the difference between the Traverse and Elevate tripods?
