This is one of the most underrated videos explaining Marbury v. Madison. I watched about five videos before coming to this one, and it made everything entirely clear. Thank you.

@@MarcoLearning Yeah :)! This is the most thorough and interesting presentation of a court case I've seen, and the way you made it much more engaging than other videos is really going to help me remember it for my test tomorrow! Also, if Mr. Richey is reading this, I'm a big fan. I think your voice is quite soothing, and I've learned so much from you over the almost 3 years I've been taking AP social studies classes.

Seems to me that John Marshall was simply creating his job and duties for himself as Adam's appointed Chief Justice, by establishing a judicial review process of the US Supreme Court as overseer of the US Constitution since the supreme court judges who came before him were not taking their jobs as seriously. Marshall knew in the back of his mind that he was determined to do his job differently then those who came before him, and that his was determined to keep his job as chief justice for at least for three decades on the bench, so that means he would no longer be out of a job and looking for a hand-out.
Seems he was really just looking out for himself; although, this case did help all the other US Supreme court justices that came after him also achieve job security.
Frankly, John Marshall did not give a hoot about William Marbury getting the commission delivered to him, nor did he give a hoot about Marbury getting his midnight judge job that John Adams promised to him.
In fact, John Marshall may have seen William Marbury as a pain in his side, and a way to get rid of Marbury by not issuing the writ of mandamus. John Marshall may have even seen William Marbury as being his competition, or someone himself who might get on the US Supreme court bench along with him, Marshall was not going to have it.
So, if you look at this case as John Marshall having self-interest as a way to simply enrich himself and to rid himself of the thorn in his side William Marbury then this case doesn't appear to be valid at all. It was all simply just a means which John Marshall used to justify and to keep his job as Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court for over 30 years.
