    this kit is class for the money. I stopped playing nearly 10 years ago and having rediscovered my passion I got this after careful research and I wasn't disappointed.
    I was surprised at the volume of the bass drum. perhaps naively I was expecting a quiet little drum especially as the last size I played was 22x22 but the 16" is a little cannon. Even after purchasing for home use I'll be getting some silencer pads for it.

      @@hf7228 I own a cherry glitter one, I got it around the time when it was released and I still have it and I love it :). I did some mods to it, of course but overall it's the best kit for the money. Totally recommended!

    Easy to carry, smaller kits are becoming more popular with smaller stages and venues.
    Good sound , certainly worth having for gigs these days.
    Pearl usually has good warranties as well.

    how big do you think a 13" floor tom is going to be? i think the kit is killer for its size

    How have you got the kit mic'd up? I'm looking for something more portable. Sounds amazing.

    People have complained about their pedal scratching the hoop. What pedal do you use ?

    Better than Ludwig Breakbeats ?

      have had this kit for 3 months, previously owned breakbeats, and IMO yes Midtown is better in every way

      Yes MUCH better. I never liked Pearl drums, I am Tama and Gretsch guy, but Tama’s little kit was only available by order and as far as I know Gretsch doesn’t have a 16” bass drum drum set. When I saw the Midtown I was like “Hmm nah it’s a Pearl” but when I heard it I really couldn’t believe it. And it had the original Chinese drum heads with no muffling on the bass drum or any other drum. Every part of this kit is made like a top kit: the hoops, hardware etc looks and feel solid and strong. The breakbeat disappointed me in terms of details, it really looks like a kids drum set.

    how is it tuned ?

    • @soundattak
      @soundattak  7 років тому

      Our guy Scot does the tuning, We tune it to the room it is in but we do tune them mid tuning so they have that punchy sound on the floor tom we have it as slack as we can get it as it is the factory heads that they come with which are single ply factory heads.You can also tune them up for more of a jazz vibe as well, these kits are very versatile.

    what wood are the shells made from?

  • @AlmightySpoonasaur

    The floor Tom ruins it for me, seems so lacking even for a small kit

    • @soundattak
      @soundattak  8 років тому +1

      To be fair the heads are single ply factory heads which we film as the kit comes, if you were to put a double ply head this will beef up the tone. We did this recently using the Evans EC2S Clear and it really sounded great

      Shame a big company like Pearl can't do that in the first place.Surely it wouldn't cost that much more.

    • @whitebaer3034

      The price would build up the more kits they make and most good heads are made in the USA which is far away from Japan where the lower end pearl kits are made so there'd be the shipping cost as well. It's a shame they come with bad heads but it is a cheap kit

      soundattak any chance of a video with these heads? I have this very kit and would like to know how it sounds mic'd up with some good heads. I'm yet to use it at a gig yet. Great work with this video too btw
