Nicely done. thanks with a question , these come in 12 and 24 volt versions ? if so , how to identify the voltage when buying a new solenoid kit? 2007 patrol but in the American market . While there are solenoids available to purchase , sellers don't know voltage.
hi, baffling how someone could supply you solenoids and not know ! many transmissions have both 12v & 24v. using the wrong solenoid will either not work or fry the solenoid. the old v=amps x resistance formula. i`d suggest a different supplier if they just send out solenoids willy-nilly. cheers
Hey mr. now my car nissan 180sx but i swap to s14 Sr20det auto transmission i think it the same block in your clip . My problem is it cant shift to d4 i can drive only d1 > d2 i think the speed about 60 km/h it can go more but the rpm was more than 3k . I bought almost 2 transmission from junkyard at first it shift perfect after 1 week it come again same problem . It made me sick pleae help me
hi, if you have used a few transmissions and you get similar issues, chances are its something that you havent checked or changed or you are doing the same incorrect thing? make sure you check all the basics first, like fluid level, battery charged and strong, good electrical connections and earth strap connections. check for cracked or damaged electrical connections outside the transmission with a wiggle test ( you may have a hairline crack in some wiring ) good luck and cheers
hello guys, how can i change all 8 liters oil in my RE4R03A ??? from the oil pan i can only 1,5 L
Great work there. Yikes that magnet is covered, Honda has a good idea, make the drain plug a magnet, so that you can clean it off during a drain and fill.
I personally have a 01 maxima with RE4F04B Jatco transmission. It’s been getting p0744 for about a year now. I did a slow ATF flush via 3 drain and fills with few thousand miles between each. Along the way Lucus and seafoam transtune were used. It’s almost back to normal. Grr still gets p0744. 213,511 miles .
I think it’s the solenoid block or the torque converter. It doesn’t make any strange noises .
Atf fluid used valvoline maxlife full synthetic and bottle of Lucus additive.
Seafoam trans tune did help a lot at some point . It’s been getting better the more it’s been driven after the 3x drain and fill with additional additives.
Just trying to keep it going for few more years. Hopefully it will last thru my son’s college year’s.
But if I have to drop the trans. I will replace the rear main seal since it’s leaking.
Cheers
hi, on these solenoids, they hammer the plunger and cause leaks. solenoid block and tcc replacement will often fix the problems if you don`t leave too long to burn clutches or converter clutch. thanks and cheers
Hey, what can cause my Nissan to sometimes be stuck in 4th gear? But if I turn off engine and come back to it a minute later.... it will suddenly shift fine again (albeit not normally but higher in the RPM's but still shifts). Could bad shift solenoids cause intermittent problem..... or if they are bad, they won't ever work again? What do you think can cause this, and in your opinion, do you think it's the solenoids or could it be a faulty TCM?
hi, hard to determine without checking ourselves. sometimes the tcm resets when you turn vehicle off, then goes into limp when it senses an issue. cheers
Hii, very informative video
Please help..
I have a terrano with same trans (160k kms) it doesn't go directly in drive in the morning but works fine after 7-8 minutes of idling
However when i put in 2nd or L it engages immediately
(Fluids have been changed but still same problem)
Can u help please?
hi, i would need more info, but without replacing filters and cleaning magnets ( adding magnets is also recommended ) simply doing a fluid change is pretty much useless. cheers
Thanks for your professional work. Do you have a video to fix gear problems and difficult changes in speeds in general or when the temperature rises to the Touareg?

Nice video 👍🏼 i have a Nissan Patrol y61 GU 2005 whit same gearbox, just finnish engine change but now it wont go in gear, any advice? Chers from norway
hi, check all basics as well as selector. cheers
Hey Mate, awesome videos, got a query if you dont mind,
1993 Terrano RE4R01A, it stalls out on every 1st start of the day or when it has been off for a number of hours (don’t think its temp related). Its stalls and jumps forwards or backwards when I rev up to about 1500rpm as if the TC is locked. If I keep it under this rev and drive down the road and eventually hit this rpm it feels like its jumped up too high gear and feels like it will stall when I come to an intersection/stop, Once it has locked up it typically “clears” and wont happen again that day, TC lock up works mint at +60kmhr. I have spent over a year trying to diagnose this with my oscilloscope etc, bypassing cooler, installing clear lines etc. I have recently replaced the TC solenoid valve with no success. If I let it idle for like a few mins it typically wont happen (I have a few theories why)
Just bought a line pressure gauge kit and have been measuring forward clutch pressure.
Current plan is to drop the valve body following your video and do an inspection / clean, ive dropped the pan some time ago and no concerns found in the pan/on magnet.
Have you ever heard / fixed this issue on a RE4R01A?
Cheers from across the ditch!
Mike
hi, on these the solenoids hammer out on the plunger and cant seal properly. stalling when you idle or stop will be torque converter clutch and or solenoid issue. cheers
Very thorough video mate! Just did the solenoid kit replacement 2 weeks ago but since then, Reverse and Neutral act as Drive (goes forward). The only difference with your video is that i did not check to align the selector valve with the shifter linkage... Would you reckon this could be the problem? (When car is off, neutral does work)
hi, unfortunately when you or someone has had a fiddle with it, you need to go recheck everything. cheers
Hey, I would like to install an oil cooler to my RE4R01A on my r32 gtst. I was thinking of putting it on the return line from the radiator before the oil goes back to the transmission.
I hope you can help me find out which line is the return line from the radiator. :)
hi, i`d recommend bypassing radiator completely. doesnt matter which way hoses/pipes go. cheers
Great Video! Had a question I'm hoping you might be able to help answer regarding an issue I'm having. I have a Nissan Skyline R32 (Autech Version) RB26DE Engine with a RE4R01A (4-Speed Auto) 4WD Transmission. The Torque converter has failed and its leaking oil as well as other issues so going to rebuild the whole gearbox.. After some extensive research and Japanese translating form Autech manuals it has been modified internally by Autech.. The question I have is could you explain what they mean by the Forward Clutch was reduced from 7/7 to 6/6 and the Low/Rev Clutch was reduced from 8/8 to 7/7. so I make sure I purchase the right parts before tackling this project.. Happy to get you a few beers for your wisdom..
Just wanted to check also to replace the Gasket + Seals / Clutches + Steels / Piston kit / Solenoids / internal wiring harness and any thing else you might suggest.
hi, the 7/7 to 6/6 i believe refers to the number of steel and friction clutch plates in the respective clutch pack. they usually do this so they can put thicker steel plates in to stop plates from warping under extreme conditions. if yo are in aust and you need parts, contact me via our facebook in vid decription and if needed we can exchange pics, vids and beers in there. cheers
Hey mate, i've got a Nissan R33 Skyline with a -01A factory auto, and ive acquired a -03A with Full Manualised valve body but it requires a rebuild. Would I be able to swap the valvebody from the -03A to the -01A?
hi , you still need to check feed holes and ports, the solenoid blocks should be similar. cheers
Hello,I'm from oklahoma, usa,I have a2001 infinti qx4 has jerk around 40 to 45 mph,any possibilities that could be in tranny solenoids.
hi, is it there constantly regardless of whether trans is cold, operating temp or coasting or under load ? sorry really hard to diagnose these kinds of isses without seeing it ourselves. cheers
Hey man. I have an 89 r32 skyline with an auto, and the power button flashes sometimes or doesn't work completely. And when it does that the transmission will NOT shift into the final gear. Any suggestions?
hi, usually flashing indicates electrical issue. most often will be contaminated and/or leaking solenoids but can also be bad electrical connections or bad earth connection. check battery condition and strength as well as fluid level. cheers
Hi thanks for the video, I have a 2000 xterra (same transmission as I know) all the speeds work fine, but 2 gear is having hard shifting, would be a good idea to drop the pan and check out the solenoids? I was also wondering if getting a TransGo shift kit and install it in my valve body would be a good idea in order to get second gear shift smooth again
hi, id need more info from tests/checks tobe able to advise that. cheers
Getting ready to do this on a 94 Nissan Pathfinder I recently purchased. Great video for deciding whether or not to do it yourself or hire it out. Thanks!
no worries, thanks & cheers
What grade of magnets do you use? I ask as neodymium magnets lose magnetism with heat and may not recover if the max operating temp is exceeded.
hi, we often use n45 & n52. they are pretty good to 80-100C or so. we have used them well over 20 years and i`m yet to see one noticeably lose its strength. they will only permanently and completely lose their magnetic strength when they reach their curie temperature, which for neodymiums we use is about 300C. regardless, even if they lose some strength as you say....they are still strong enough and very beneficial in keeping your trans cleaner....choice is always yours..see neodymium vids ua-cam.com/video/C12iQrWYS1M/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/pMwg__A_A7U/v-deo.html & ua-cam.com/video/KmACzj8btC4/v-deo.html and comments under those vids cheers
i have the same transmission in my 1995 Hardbody (RE4R01A) i need to change the solenoid, is it safe to assume this is the same procedure? same trans? thanks.
hi, if same trans then yes. cheers
The hardest part was the accumulator springs as I had no help with mine, and remembering where all the bolts went, but I did manage with some migraine meds and a lot of cussing 😂
hi, first time is always daunting. cussing always helps...good stuff cheers

Sir i have a 93 nissan d21 hardbody pick up truck with automatic transmission. It won't go into reverse or drive and when it does go into drive the acceleration isn't smooth.
hi, check all the basics first. could be fluid level and/or blocked filter. cheers
@@YepThatsIt thank you sir
Hey bro awesome video!
I have a 1995 td42 blacktop auto.
I got reverse, 1st and 2nd but doesn’t shift to 3rd or 4th. Try to do some research but not much help out there. Anyone else have this problem?
h, check all basics first. on these autos solenoids wear out causing pressure leak which is a mechanical issue. you will only get fault codes with electrical issues. cheers
Thank you sir! Will try the basics to get it back in running order. Massive help! Keep up the videos they are super informative and a LOT of help 🤙🏽
G'day, thanks for posting such great videos. Mate, could you please tell me what diff oil you us on 2003 ba Fairmont's with 6 cylinder and a non LSD diffs. I pretty sure its a Dana M78 diff. I'd really like to use Castrol 80w 140 fully synthetic diff oil but don't want to risk potentially damaging the seals in the diff or the diff itself. According to the Ford repair manual fully synthetic diff oil is only compatible with Viton seals and not polyacrilic seals. I'm not sure what sort of seals are inside the diff. cheers
hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. any brand that is compatible will do. we like to use tritech or penrite www.tritechlubricants.com/lube-guide/ www.datateck.com.au/Lube/PenriteAus/ cheers
@@YepThatsIt No worries, I've gone with the Castrol EPX 80 w 90. The diff manufacturer (Dana), the ba falcon owners manual and some of the ford dealers recommoned I go with the mineral based 80w 90 gear oil, whereas other ford dealers and gear oil producers recommend the fully synthetic 80w 140. I've gone with your suggestion and put in a magnetic drain plug. Keep up the great videos
Do you have a part number or a link to somewhere I can get the shift solenoid group?
hi, if you`re in Oz, you can contact me on our facebook link which is on our main page. cheers
Hello there,
I have a 1993 nissan D21 hardbody 4x4 v6 3.0 with this same transmission. The problem is a extended delayed shifting 2nd and 3rd gear. I changed the fluid but the problem still exist. I was quoted $2,500 - $3,500 to repair depending what the damage is. Maybe I'll just get a reman. Any advice on what it could be or just go with a reman? Thank you in advance.
hi, hard to determine with so little info. start with all the basic checks and tests and work up from there. often on these the solenoids leak causing issues. make sure you air pressure test apply ports if you lower the valve body as well to check for leaks. cheers
Will do that, thank you!
@@ketchuphappy1326 Hello, what happened to you? I have a 2004 Pathfinder and I have the same problem and poor acceleration in 3rd gear until I press half the throttle and it disappears.
You are always doing a great job. Thanks for the video.
thanks and cheers ;-)
I'm getting ready to do this on the same transmission by myself. How long did this job take you?
hi, sorry for delay in reply, we just got back last monday. hard to say how long it will take someone else? depends on your tools and experience. cheers
@@YepThatsIt I read this was like a 2-4 hour job. I got the parts, just haven't got the xanax yet lol. I'm confident though lol. I doubt I'll video it, due to the non stop cussing that will most likely happen.
Nice and helpful video. I have same model of trans having an issue of HOLD light is blinking and sometimes have shifting issue.
What could be the possible couses of this problem?
hi, computer has noted an electical parameter has been exceeded. cheers

Where I can buy gasket Nissan td 27
hi, if you`re in australia, our contact details are in description. cheers
Did the same job on same type of trans on a 97 Pathfinder. Now all gears, including reverse and neutral, cause the vehicle to move forward. Fluid level looks good. Any idea what the issue might be? Changed the solenoid due to a dtc code. All gears worked before opening up.
Nevermind, figured it out. Needed to reconnect the manual valve on the valve body to shift linkage. Missed that angle when taking pre-job pictures. Now that tranny has real clean fluid. :D
@@steveconner6126 interesting. my 2001 xterra no longer reverses - it actually rolls forward. and I want to say the neutral very slightly does the same. what is the manual valve and could that be my problem too?
@@cee4439 the manual valve is the rod that slides in/out of the valve body and connects to the shift linkage inside the transmission case where the valve body is. It's a pain to drain the fluid and check it, but in my case it was the right thing to do. Good luck!
@steveconner6126 thank you! I have a 2001 xterra. Does the transmission need to be taken out to check that?
@@cee4439 Did you do the same transmission valve body work as in this video? It's in the same area as the valve body. Shouldn't have to take the transmission out of the vehicle to do it.
Very Informative, great job boys.👍
thanks & cheers ;-)

I have a 2004 nissan pathfinder 4wd with 293km on it. reverse stopped working. do you think it would be a solenoid or something else? is the transmission worth repairing or would it be more economical to replace it? TIA!
hi, hard to say without having a look ourselves, is reverse completely gone? what happens upshifting and downshifting manually at light, medium and harder throttle? we repair/overhausl these ourselves so you need to make your own decision on what you find. cheers
@@YepThatsIt while driving forward, upshifts and downshifts feel perfectly normal at light, medium, and hard throttle. the reverse engaged today which is weird. dont know if ill have reverse again tomorrow or not though.
