I had this same problem. I had to change the whole unit. It cost me a lot more around $1600.00 I knew the issue, but did not comfortable taking it out and soldering. Hope your video will help others.
Thank you for the abbreviated video. You targeted the key elements and gave good instruction on how to carefully clean and look for damage. Now, the fun part I get to apply your teachings.
Excellent video. This was exactly what I was looking for, I have a code1774 for low coast solenoid. I've got the replacement solenoids on hand and really wanted to know where to check for breaks in the circuits since that is also a possibility. Very clear and concise. Thanks
I have the exact same code. I replaced the Low Coast Break Solenoid (high OHM version) and after I reinstalled everything and cleared the code it threw the same code again. I took my valve body off again today and removed the TCM and it looks fine, nothing broken when I took the black cover off. And no contamination or rust. I replaced my radiator and overflow reservoir last summer so I never had the strawberry milkshake of death. How did your fix go? Is everything working great for you now? I'd be interested to know. I am debating on what to do. Thank you!
@@jameshealey27Hello James, all I did to fix this on my vehicle was remove the valve body, then remove the TCM from the valve body, then remove the black plastic cover from the TCM, then clean all the metal pins on the TCM, then cover all the pins with automotive grade clear silicone, then reassembled it all. My new low coast brake solenoid (the one I had to originally replace) (high ohm version) works great now. No issues. Drives and shifts like brand new. Same OEM valve body and TCM. Never had to replace those items. Just cleaned all the TCM pins and installed a new low coast brake solenoid. Thanks.
This is an excellent video and you did an excellent job explaining and showing this so clearly. It’s THE BEST VIDEO I HAVE SEEN in relation to checking and fixing the problems after contamination!! Unfortunately my 08 Pathfinder had the radiator leak failure and trans got contaminated too. I caught it early like you did. I changed to a brand new radiator, changed my hoses, and took forever to clean out the caramel pudding from my overflow tank. But I did it😃. I completely flushed my transmission and put new transmission fluid in it. New filter too. Everything was going well until I noticed transmission is slipping when I put it in drive-it hesitates a split second when pressing the accelerator as it engages in first gear. And sometimes when I’m driving I feel it slip if I press the accelerator to go up 1 gear. Seems it don’t have the acceleration in relation to the RPM speed it used to have before contamination. With watching the great job on your customers TCM and what you did with your TCM, do you think it’s my TCM contamination and/or solenoids? Or do you think it’s the torque converter? I’m pretty handy and I’m sure I can remove my TCM to check and clean it like you did. I would really appreciate any advice. I don’t want to pay big $$$$$ to have a shop fix it, if I can do it myself. Thank you kindly in advance from Hawaii.
damage already done .coolant been in to long also converter full of contaminated fluid hard to remove.Clutches and internal seals damaged, you need complete trans rebuild.
Gr8 vid, I have a re4f04b. 2001 maxima P0744 comes on typically at higher speeds, think it’s losing pressure on the TCC solenoid. Highly suspect it needs new wire harnesses and solenoids block and filter. I was able to getting it to move with 3 drain and fills with few thousand miles between each. It’s now almost normal except it still gets the code. I was able to get it to pass state test barely on retest. I used valvoline maxlife synthetic ATF Lucus Seafoam transtune to help clean out things
A lot of misdiagnoses of lockup problems are blamed on solenoids and valve body problems. Always change your stator bushings in the pump. I've seen it fix lockup problems dozens of times over the last 40 years of building transmissions.
Thank you for posting this, it helps a lot! Quick question, would you happen to know the ball bearing positions on inside of the milled part? I took apart a salvaged TCM I found at a junkyard and 2 bearings fell out. I only bought to module b/c it was $26 and I wanted to get familiar with it. All the components look ok. I will be replacing the solenoids, on the TCM on my truck, later this week. Hoping I don't need the salvaged unit, but would like a functional spare in case.
I'm having the same code on my 05 nissan pathfinder after changing the fluid. The solenoids were fine after checking for clicking noise, but the same pressure switch wasn't checked the way you showed in the video. I'm gonna have to take it apart to confirm it's also broken by doing the same like you did in the video Would I still be able to use the same fluid again that I drained after buying a new valve body, or repairing the tcm board?
Have a customers auto Navara landing in tomorrow - nobody wants to know about fixes for these. Garages just hard-pass. Even just for simple chassis issues - let alone transmissions. Your English is amazing - Smart Guy. I can take a good guess at where you're from.
Is the transmission still working? How did you clean the coolant lines in the engine? I know you replaced the radiator but what about the rest of the cooling system (hoses, engine).
hello. I have Pathfinder 4.0 2010. The gearbox has a delayed gear only in D-drive, 2-3 seconds. At the same time, there is a hissing sound in the gearbox for 2-3 seconds. The oil has been changed. I don't know about the oil filter, we haven't checked. Could it be the valve body or filter that can have such a problem?
I was wondering.. What's up with the blinking oil light? I thought it was shutter speed at first but then I realized none of the other dash indicators did this in the shot.
I'm having a hard time getting the solenoid's off of the valve body on my 2006 a/t 4x4. The goal is to get to the TCM to clean it off and also see what the solenoid's ohm out at. Any tips for pulling them off without breaking?
Please i need your help my nissan armada 2009 had proplem with the transmission, its not working on Reverse and D its working on 3 only i replaced 3 gear transmission but the same proplem still there ! What should i do ? What is the proplem?
hi your video is very good i have a blinking o/d light on when cold and loses drive for 2 or 3 seconds then when warm its fine and all other gears are fine and smooth can you help me already changed the speed sensor its the same i ned your advise?
Hola como te fue con el arreglo del vehículo, te funcionó luego de remplazar el sensor? porque he visto en otros videos que el problema no es el sensor sino la tcm o compu, si lo pudiste solucionar me indicarías como lo hiciste? gracias
Pathfinder 2010 Hello. when I move the lever to position D, there is a delay of 2-3 seconds. only on D and worse when the engine is warm. the rest everything was great. What could it be? new oil. only Liqui moly 1200. Not original Nissan. I have had the car for a short time. so I don't know if it worked before. thanks for the information. What could it be?
This Northern European convinced me to drop the trans (Titan, 2005) fluid cover and remove my valve body. Very bold move for a electrical engineer. Skoolll
My tcm totally fried from the same issue. It put my whole vehicle in safe mode/ no start no crank U1000/j1850. I ordered a new tcm from eBay. I installed it. And put it all together. And nothing changed. Same code U1000/j1850. What is the issue?

I’m taking mine apart tomorrow and this gave me a clear idea of what to expect, and what problems to look for.

I really enjoy the longer videos! Sounds like you got pretty good rain up North - it came down pretty good in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Please help how to open the cover tcm for looking inside. Very thin

Not if you use the same computer.
