If I remember correctly Chomp is one of the few bots that has or at least used to have a internal tracking assistance. I remember it doing rather well. So either they had to remove or the tracking assistance is out of touch with the increased power of chomps spikehammer.
Chomp is by far the most entertaining bot to watch. It's just a rubber potato bouncing around, flipping itself every other swing. I'm just dying of laughter. And every time it wins I just laugh harder.
Agreed. The wheel/steering arrangement and super-sharp response makes accurate targeting far too difficult for a single-strike weapon like an axe or hammer. I think either broad, concealed tank tracks or (best of all) a full crab/steer walking arrangement (allowing purely lateral transitions without any rotation) would help with both stability and targeting precision. But then it's always easy to 'improve' someone else's design from an armchair... ;-)

Guns are actually kinda bad, the bullets eat into your weight limit and if you run out of bullets and didn't get through the other bot's armor you're dead
it's probably cause it's harder to judge distance when you're on the ground watching from a horizontal angle, that's most of the problems with the hammer bots since if the opponent is on the other side of your bot from your viewpoint, it's rough to judge how close the enemy is to your own bot.
Still Chomp is screwed such a over complicated robot. Any robot that basically any time it attacks it flips itself over is doomed against any robot with a solid weapon. Full spin bots are just never known to be good at maneuvering other then Ziggo in the classic Battlebots 10+ years ago. Really all you need in order to beat Chomp is a functioning weapon and be able to move because all Chomp can do is hope to line you up right under her hammer. Not very hard for any solid driver to avoid that hammer and attack her from her sides or rear end. Plus her robot has so many moving parts to it that all its gonna take is one solid hit and it's all over.

@monokhem What Theory this is no theory its a fact as CHOMP has lost 6 straight matches including going 0-4 last season. So it's no Theory that it's a very poorly designed Robot that is always gonna have trouble winning. Has a powerful axe but zero control.
What people forget about axes is that they may not do impressive external damage, but they do have the potential to do devastating internal damage. Sometimes cutting a wire or puncturing a gearbox is all you need to win.
Can't wait until someone rips that robot apart my guess is it will happen next round against the defending champ. She shouldn't even had made it out of qualifying disco inferno dominated it and chomp spent 60% of the match on its side. Captain just isn't a robot that can move well enough to avoid the hammer plus if he isn't spinning fast then he's screwed against anybody. Really wish Nightmare was facing Chomp next would love to see her robot flip over and then for him to just get one clean hit and game over her robot is destroyed since it's so damn complicated not to mention one hit to your underbelly from nightmare and your gonna be in 100 pieces. He's basically taking on Chomps better version in Beta who also has the same problem with if he missed a hit he's gonna have his belly exposed for a few seconds.

Shredderator has a consistent problem with the spinner failing as the match goes on, full body spinner needs a hefty motor that fails faster than spinners that just power a little sawblade
Do you guys realize that Chomp's armor was made specifically to withstand attacks? The other builders even said it could easily tank hits from Tombstone. I doubt its getting torn apart like last season.

I hate Chomp. For like 8 reasons. The fact it is still in, and Stinger is out, is disheartening. Actually, fuck Megatento as well. Both are terribly designed robots which will get eatten by any functional robot with a working spinner. I just feel the decisions have been very unequal when it comes to this season.

chomp is interesting but it can't seem to hit things very reliably in spite of having a thing to fire automatically when something is in range. also the way it gets back up looks like just a lot of thrashing.
I REALLY like chomps design. (don't lynch me yet). The idea of a swinging weapon in this meta of all spinners in a breath of fresh air. Since most bots are spinners and flippers, no one is using much top armor as they don't need it verses those. This makes a swinging weapon bot pretty strong if it can actually land a good hit, (as you can see from the holes in the top of Cpt. shrederator). The only reason Chomp sucks is due to its poor aiming system. If its automated aiming system could actually judge distance well, Chomp would be a good bot. Hell, remove the flame thrower and some of its upper armor (both of which seem totally useless) and give it a more stable base and rotation speed, maybe tank treads since they can turn while stationary and have good grip, Chomp would be top tier.
Crazy I remember when I was 6 or 7 probably even younger trying to build a bottle bot out of my RC car because of this show and it’s still going I thought about this show all my life and just found it still going wow b

I think Shrederator was having driving issues. After getting to the side successfully the first time, he was significantly slower.
MunkyDrag0n actually spinners like capt shrederater have trouble steering because you cant see which way the robot is facing

So tried watching every bot's weapon is a spinning steel. Chomp however is a hammer, loved it!

I REALLY like chomps design. (don't lynch me yet).
The idea of a swinging weapon in this meta of all spinners in a breath of fresh air. Since most bots are spinners and flippers, no one is using much top armor as they don't need it verses those. This makes a swinging weapon bot pretty strong if it can actually land a good hit, (as you can see from the holes in the top of Cpt. shrederator). The only reason Chomp sucks is due to its poor aiming system. If its automated aiming system could actually judge distance well, Chomp would be a good bot. Hell, remove the flame thrower and some of its upper armor (both of which seem totally useless) and give it a more stable base and rotation speed, maybe tank treads since they can turn while stationary and have good grip, Chomp would be top tier.
