@@CFH603 back in the day in Russia there were seven string guitars that were tuned in a different way to normal guitars so it made them sound different. And the new 7strings aren't only for metal. I've seen jazz musicians use even 9 string guitars because it's good to have a higher range on your guitar and it can make you sound better if you know how to use it
@@CFH603 my point was that most people don't buy 7-8-9 string guitars just for chugging. But yes it is just adding more bass notes. You can't really go higher because thinner strings break easily
yeah, it's like every guitar magazine review is a bunch of blues and some box chords or triads. They go like "Today we have this metal machine with EMG pickups, a pure black finish with actual virgin blood used to paint some of the decals, it comes with 12-62 strings from the factory, it's shaped like a weapon and sounds like pure evil" *proceeds to play blues licks in E standard on a Fender 65 clean channel*
Nothing irrites me more than watching people review thrbLprn signature models and them not playing a f$#@&ng Korn song. Or worse yet.. Changing the tuning immediately...🙄
Basically every single guitar review that I look up on YT. Even if it's a single pickup metal Axe with an EMG81 in the bridge, they always play the same old boring blues licks and chords.
dawg i was always a 6 string player, sold my SG cuz i needed money then about 7 months after got a ibanez 7 string, instantly tuned it to drop f# and been loving it ever since
I love my schecter damein platinum 7. If I want to play ANYTHING I grab it because it's the only guitar I own that feels comfortable and just wright. I think I will now buy 7-8 string guitars from now on. Or maybe a baritone 6 string so I have the same scale length.
Ugggghhhh I feel this! I recall a demo of the signature head and cab used by Dimebag... was just open G and A chords with a lil minor pentatonic thrown in. Absolutely killed me.
Lol so true. The first song I learned on my 7 string was "Bent Backwards & Broken" by CC. But since back than I still relied on tabs, I learned it about 1/4 faster than the original. lol And I actually could play it at altered speed. I love the challenge of shredding on a 7 string, only to go back on a regular 6 string & get overwhelmed how it feels much easier since the bridge is smaller. Check out Bucketheads Woods of Suicide, Final Wars, Worms for the Garden. Thats a worthy challenge for a 7 string.
I started out playing music with metal or grungey chops, but i play more mellow now with metal undertones. I always wanted a 7 string to find new beautiful, haunting chords!
So over the 7 and 8 string etc fad. I play in an alternate Drop B on my 6 string PRS and achieve what I need on the higher strings with solos and leads and just use a pedal if for whatever reason I do one more on the high end. Not like I’ll ever be a Steve Vai anyway haha 😆🤘💀🤘🎸
I feel like I would treat a 7 string the same I do a whammy. I forget it's there, then I go "oh I should use it" and I do for 30 sec, realize I have no clue what I'm doing and then quietly go back to what I was doing.
It's best to just keep your mind open to a 7, when you first get one... When I found mine, I first figured out to regard it as a 'baritone' tuned to B, but with an additional high E. So: the G string is actually tuned a half step lower to F#. And further in I started using drop-A and drop-D on the lowest strings. But I'm not really fixed on any one tuning anyway, I use multiple tunings on various guitars - like Robert Fripp's New Standard Tuning, or Nick Drake's... It just depends on what I'm aiming for sonically.
How heavy u going? Most people should play 10s by default in my opinion for anything that isn’t lower than C but once u get C I’d use 11 A/B 12 but it’s really up to u what u want to use I’d say u can probably use 11 for B A is pushing it 12s u basically can only stay A and B I’ve basically repeated myself this entire time and my personal opinion might be deemed wrong
Man this is true when you are trying to get a good metal review on damn near anything guitar and bass related lol. I just want to hear how the thing chugs so I can determine if it’ll start a mosh pit or not
Unashamedly when I get writer's block, I will just jam out some dminor blues riff till inspirations strikes... Which is normally somewhere I can't record a voice note to myself or have my guitar nearby 😂
It gets even worse when they start playing some flaccid hard rock riffs with an angry bee swarm tone and think that it sounds metal.
Yessssss

Ha that’s accurate 😂🤣😂🤣
E standard is evil as fuck
So specific but I still felt it
Horrific and so accurate 😅🤣🤣🙃
God i fucking hate that😂 boomers cant jam and the review every amp the same way with blues licks

I CAN'T HEAR YOU
I'm tuning the B to an A and start 30 minutes of random slipknot songs
I do that but with a six, lol. I hate tuning it down and up and down and up and so on
i rather knot on a 6 string, not to mention you wouldn’t be in tune just dropping to 7 string drop A

Even better, at least drop the low B to an A… I feel like that’s the bare minimum 😂
I even always play evil riffs on my strat
The guitar that does everything!!!!!
DAMN THAT WAS A SICK RIFF!!!
The one at the start was prettty good, too.

thought it was gonna end with you hammering the low b for fun haha. You do nail this format though

If someone removed the 5 highest strings on my 7-string I’d be like “that’s fine”

That’s what max calavera does with his 6 strings

Why tf would he cut it off that's the whole point of the 7th string 😢
Tuned to A Standard, with "Are You Ready?" Burned into its mind.
i didnt buy a 7 string until i had a list of like 30 songs i wanted to learn that were on 7, just so i knew id actually use it😂😂
Honestly one of the truest videos I've seen you do. I own 27th string guitars and I play the 7th string about 3% of the time.
i made this mistake at first lol, getting a 7 string just to use it as a 6 string. of course i don’t do it anymore but i frown upon myself for that

Funny enough, I picked up a 7 string just to try one out yesterday, and that is exactly what I did 😅
You played the boomer riffs
The first one is literally me lmfao
"let's review this sick looking war hammer"
.... proceeds to play clean with reverb and delay on neck single coil
I had to comfort my ibanez 7 string on the second video and tell her its only a video gave her a djent she purred happily back to sleep
Personally I like seven string humbuckers for their power. It really makes the low E have that sound I am looking for but can’t get on 6 string pups.
Man I need more medley videos
omfg that sounds so good
I was expecting the Blind riff on reality 😂
Hell yeah that riff was killing
This is definitely true when I get a 7 string I'm going to learn korn song.
Whatever you played first reminds me of some old school Chelsea Grin, Desolation of Eden type vibes.
I need a midi controller or a 7 string. I just want a 7 string more xD
i feel attacked of how accurate this is
When I first heard the opening note to reality, I thought you were gonna play the Better Call Saul

For a second I thought I heard Nothing Else Matters solo when he switched to reality.
I want a 7 string only to play korn
All it's missing is either a slightly crunchy tone or metalzone distortion
Since i suck at theory i need a 7 string chord diagram.

@METAL! I’m using the Dunlop heaviest 12-54 on one of my guitars and Dunlop heavy 10-48 on the other one, they’re both work with drop tuning.
