Several years ago I did this with succes. I think it's very brand and type related. And for a pity, there are no new Toshiba's on the market since 2016. I got two of them and in the near future I will buy a Dynabook laptop. I hope it's near the quality of my Satellites. Thanks for helping my knowledge of IT alive.
Thank you! I did it on my Satellite C850D - 138 and it worked great. I did a test a couple of years ago, I installed Ubuntu and it didn´t work very well. Yesterday I took this laptop again and I forgot my Supervisor Passwort. Thanks your instructions I find out to access the bios again.
I didn't realise you had to have the laptop plugged in, power it on, all while shorting the jumper pads. Did a full dissasembly on it just to take out the CMOS battery which didn't work. But doing this DID work, I wasn't expecting it to. Now I just have to figure out why I have 5 more screws than when i started LOL I always end up doing this on laptops.
I used to do the same thing Then I started saving the foam padding that is in some of the stuff we buy like inch thick stuff that is easy to poke holes into and I will either follow the numbers on the back of the laptop or draw a rough detailed sketch of the back and location of each screw and ever since I don't even have any leftover screws Good luck to you on your next one
Great video Brian did the same job a while ago on my desktop pc which has a gygabyte board you neede to jump 2 pins i used a jumper that you used to have to use on old hdd to determine the master or slave it worked a treat
Vielen Dank für den Tipp. Ich habe lange gesucht. Alle Vorschläge führten nicht zum Ziel. Und hier die ganz einfache Lösung. Thanks for the tip. I've been looking for a long time. All suggestions did not lead to the goal. And here is the very simple solution.
Thanks Brian :-D Peoples young kids playing with laptops is never a good thing, messing with the bios and forgetting what they actually typed in that day. Same with the windows account password, kids are a bloody pain for locking machines out.
Britec09, Ooow you hacker lol :-D I know on some old lappys there is a 8 pin i2c serial memory for the password, but that is 'Old hat' now, well i think it is. I've had repeat offenders with the same machine 3 times locked out by a wrong windows password,. They don't half look sheepish when they did it again lol.
Every time I have a computer problems videos that solve it always your ones. Well done PS I'm trying to remove the CMOS battery from a Toshiba satellite p70 is there any guys you can point me to to
Another good video, I have done this before for few PC's. Fairly easy to do.... How about if there a Hard Drive password that was forgotten. I tried help a friend and have not figured it out.
using the paperclip method worked! screwdrivers didn't, finally I can see inside the Insyde ! should have done this many many many years ago. (for me the bios password request only popped up whenever I tried to get into bios setup).
Hi. Thanks for the video and information. I’m not totally certain whether my issue is exactly the same so would like to check with you. I don’t want to change or remove the password. I have a Toshiba Satellite L50-A laptop, and when I power up, it goes past the Toshiba screen to the “enter password” screen (which I now understand is the BIOS password), however when I type in the correct password and then try to enter it, the screen stays stuck at this screen. Nothing I do will allow this password screen to change. I cannot even hit F2 to enter the BIOS screen. I keep finding various tutorials about Toshiba issues, but so far haven’t found any that I think specifically address this issue. Would you have any advice on this problem for me, and why the screen stays stuck here even when I enter the correct password? Also, if the BIOS battery (the CR2032j needs replacing, could this be the cause of my computer not letting me get past this screen? Thank you for your time, it is much appreciated. Glenn.
Can you make a video for resetting the forgotten CMOS password for Lenovo G560 20042 which does not have a battery and as is the cmos setup it only can boot from the main hard drive i.e. does not look for a bootable cdrom or usb.
Please help, I did this now nothing will come in my screen. I power it on and get a green light, but no screen. Hoping you can help. I followed each step.
Mine battery is soldered to the board, I unsoldered one prong but can't solder it back on. The solder will not stick to the board, I even cleaned it with wick and flux. I put fresh flux with the solder and it will not go. Edit... it reset it though and worked, don't need the password anymore
I took copper wire like from an electric cable really small and just place them on there with a piece of tape so they stayed grounded and then the process probably four or five times and then finally put the ram back in and hard drive and got it working when bios screen pops up and says not registered you probably want to register it with a new password and write it down this time lol
try a small pair of tweezers what i did when held the tweezers onto the jumper pads, in the middle, have the laptop on it's side, try to stay still and with your other hand power it on. tip: you don't need the RAM installed, my jumper pads were underneath the RAM.
Brian...can you reset the password from inside the bios menu, under seurity, with out knowing the password to start with? I replacd the round battery with new one and after several attempts it went in the set up utility...but i don't no how to change the password from there. help please...ty
Good evening. Please can you tell me how can I disable BIOS supervisor password in Toshiba Z30 ? I can set user / disable password , but I can not change anything in the BIOS settings, because I setted on Supervisor and there is no option to disable that. It does not ask me for password. Thank you
I got satellite pro l830 and can't find clear pads or even the cmos battery, I've got one here that is wrapped in black taped using a heat gun and actually has black and red wires connecting to the board and that's the closest thing looking like a cmos battery, no pads near it tho or any writing
