the bios lock isnt stored on the hard drive. its stored in the bios chip. the only way to get rid of it is by actually flashing the bios with the driver from the manufacturer's website or replacing the chip on the mother board. this is utter bs and is confusing beginners. the issue with this laptop is the hp security lock which is stored on the laptop.
4 years later, I came across this video and it helped me a lot. I was upgrading from hdd to ssd and system needed bios password. My problems are solved.
Thank you so much for uploading this video, I literally had to go through the whole of UA-cam to find a solution and you posted a video with the exact same laptop and problem that I have. Thank you so much!
Thank you for posting this. It worked for me in installing Chrome OS Flex on a second hand Lenovo laptop with a supervisor password which I did not know. Keep it up!
bro, thank you so much. You were the only one who showed such method, and it worked perfectly for me, unlike dozens of videos with same unhelpful solutions.
This worked for me perfectly when I wanted to install a brand new SSD on a BIOS locked laptop. The only thing that was different was that I had to select the USB install stick from the boot device options (it magically appeared when I put in this new SSD!) Thank you very much!!!
You sir are a legend. Clear and professional video. Unfortunately it took me days to find this out for myself last year. I have a HP Compaq 6735s with locked bios. If i formatted the drive NTFS from memory it still wouldn't let me boot from USB. I had to have the hard drive without a format (raw) for the laptop to allow me to boot from USB. Has anyone found a way to remove the bios? Other than removing the cip and flashing it or getting hp to send you the custom scm.bin file. I will call hp and ask for that on monday when they are open. I think its not good that HP only have customer support 5 days a week. Not sure what other brands have. Happy new year everyone.
this doesnt make sense... you cant diskpart on the drive your running windows session on? and what does the harddrive have to do with the bios password? oh i get it.. i was thinking to much and my problem is usb booting is disabled and this is commen sense to take the hd out so it boots the next avalible so thats why i didnt get this
I have this problem on msi laptop , what if i installed the windows on the hard disk using another computer , i think the laptop will boot the windows easily without showing the bios pass
I just put a new SSD m.2 on BIOS locked lenovo X1 gen 4 and connect a USB installation windows and it automatically boot from usb drive. For normal laptop i don't need to do anything in the bios. As long as I'm able to use the laptop normally it fine. Don't worry even the date and time reset it still can setup in the desktop later and sync into BIOS. The only problem is i can't use fingerprint lock function.
I did all this even removed battery and jumpers and my HP Thin Client T630 is still asking for setup password which I don’t have. Any other method to get this working?
Install Windows on another machine with a similar chipset (Intel to Intel, AMD to AMD). Then place the drive in your BIOS locked machine and update the drivers.
Hai,thanx alot for the video.I have a question,Is it possible to use a different bios of another laptop into a different one?let say i remove a bios chip of an HP and mounted it into a DELL machine?
Hey I did it all but the BIOS didn't get removed but we figured our the code and if we turn off and back on the laptop we have to re do the BIOS password
Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering if your method works for UEFI systems? I am not sure if the bios password is stored on the Hard disk drive rather than EEPROM flash. I am talking about Dell Precision Laptop with Windows 10 OS.
Sensei! Thank you for explaining it the way it should be, clear and concise. Many blessings to you,. My exercise on my ASUS X543UA which corrupted UEFI during an update, begins shortly. You confirmed what I was arguing about, the HDD IS key to rescuing this laptop. of mine. I will post feedback when I have it.
When I first got my used laptop (Vista) I was somehow able to put Win 10 on it but when I tried to hook up the wireless, it wasn't showing. All the hardware is there but no wireless. After trying everything to engage wireless I finally realized it must have been shut off in the bios but when I tried to turn it on in the bios, I couldn't get into it because there was a previous password. I now have a laptop that I can hardwire the net but not get the wirelss turned on. Any tricks?
it doesnt makes sense that the bios password (from the motherboard) can be changed by formating the ssd and i won't even try it out because its just not logical
It doesn't, the BIOS holds a boot order, all we're doing is replacing the data of the primary boot media. Doesn't change the password, it's not unlocked but you can still use it to some extent.
Thank you for your great effort. In fact, I have a problem with the computer. It asks for a password at startup and the name of the device is Lenovo Inkpad T61. Is the method I explained in the subject working with my computer? Thank you.
Bought a used LENOVO B40 - 30 with an operating system designed for the hearing impaired called ZVRS with a locked BIOS ADMIN PASSWORD. Can't load WINDOWS only Z5 which is part of ZVRS. Will removing the HDD and using your technique described in your video work? Thanks

Because your hard drive has been cracked Then use a new Hard drive or SSD Or bypass it or buy a new CMOS battery
not working with hp 1040 g1 bios lock,,already follow the step
Some BIOS stored it's data by keeping electricity flowing via CMOS BAT battery

Good to know it helped you out, thanks so much for the feedback !
So did I, as well as renaming the ASUS support team with some apt new names, like crook and elitist, haha. This tut is golden.
Thank you for posting this. It worked for me in installing Chrome OS Flex on a second hand Lenovo laptop with a supervisor password which I did not know. Keep it up!
No way it was this simple. Can't believe I own a computer shop and didn't think of going this route, thanks so much!
Hy
Can any shop have remove it from huawaii
nice easy trick, unless if the USB boot is disabled in the BIOS ;-) lol or if it is PXE boot only for example etc
I have watched at least 10 videos on this subject and this is the first that actually worked. Thanks so much for your help.
You're welcome!

Was the bios password reset after the process?
how about hp 1040 g1 bios lock?
THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT UA-cam OUT HERE SO SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE.. THANK YOU
Interesting idea to get around the bios password and fresh install a single O/S. Thanks

but u didn't bypass it bro
I have a bricked laptop because of an unknown bios password.
If I can get a clean install I will for sure be calling that a bipass 🤪👍

It work over here for me. Thanks a bunch bro 🖖
This doesn't solve the locked BIOS issue though.
Thanks for this video.
Please I have this laptop. Whenever I turn it on, it only shows two blinking locks; lock A lock 1. How do I fix it?
I have this problem on msi laptop , what if i installed the windows on the hard disk using another computer , i think the laptop will boot the windows easily without showing the bios pass

What if booting from any USB ports are disabled in BIOS, or if internal HDD is encrypted?
Then you are f cked.

Thank you a lot for sharing this process!
ONLY works for GPT-UEFI on disk or for password locked disk.
Does NOT fix either BIOS or CMOS password lock
Thanks for the tutorial. I was wondering if your method works for UEFI systems? I am not sure if the bios password is stored on the Hard disk drive rather than EEPROM flash. I am talking about Dell Precision Laptop with Windows 10 OS.

Mine still won't boot to USB and still asks for a "password to unlock system" when I press F12 for boot order. RIP
This unfortunately doesn't work on a Dell Latitude 7390 laptop with a SATA SSD. BIOS is still locked.
I tought you are going to reset the Bios. of course it directly load from usb drive when the other drive are empty.
not if usb boot has been disabled
Hi, please, I have a Toshiba Satellite c660 2D6 laptop. It shows me entering passwords and cannot go into the bios. What can I do?
