I'm giving you a thumbs up because you showed me that my fan clutch is inoperable: it turns the fan even when cranking for the first time in the morning. @6.25 I think you are overcomplicating things. The first thing you need to check in my opinion is if there is any electrical poles getting to the injectors. Ed KRON from heavy duty powertrain says to get a "noid" light which will allow to see if electricity is making it to the fuel injector. If the noise light flashes, move it to the other five cylinders / injectors. If each cylinder is injector fires you know there is no problem with the electricity and you can roll out the ignition switch, the ECM, and the fuel solenoid. This method with electricity getting to the injectors allows you to jump straight to a testing of the fuel system starting with a fuel pressure gauge hooked to the fuel pump or somewhere in line thereof. If the fuel pressure is within specifications then it is quite likely a mechanical fault within the injector (s).
@@PistonShack Hello sir... I have the exact same engine... My problem is I just replace the wiring harness and sent the ECM OFF to have it rebuilt... ECM had been off the truck maybe 6-8 months prior to me sending it off for rebuild... Well once got it back put the ecm and wire harness on... It cranks no start... I'm getting no fire or voltage from the wire that runs from the ecm to the fuel solenoid.. Please let me know what would u suggest my next step should be...Again the wire that runs from the ECM and plugs into the top of the solenoid has no reading of voltage... thanks in advance for any feed back..
@@PistonShack Hello piston shack... Any advice on the question I asked about the fuel solenoid not getting any fire through the wire that connects to it from the ecm??

Thanks! 98 Freightliner no start after sitting all winter. I didn't get as deep into checking voltages but I had no click at the fuel solenoid. Turns out I had a bad ground in the battery box. Up and running in less than half an hour. Much appreciated!
Very informative tutorial. I’ve got an N14 on my T800 that has so far not given me any trouble. But in the event if it should have this type of problem I’ll be sure to know what to look for. Thanks so much for the valuable information. Great job.
Hi Randy! Have you done some troubleshooting already? I forgot a couple of things in my video: 1) Check if you have a tachometer respond when cranking, if not probably most likey engine cam sensor or wiring; 2) check engine temperature gauge when key turned to ON position if arrow points HOT, engine coolant temp sensor is faulty or wiring - could cause crank no start.
@@PistonShack okay. I check the tachometer. When I turn on the computer respond to me. Do I also need to get a test light check all fuses and relays? Cause I did here some popping sounds from the fuse boxs. When I was driving it home.
@@randyjackson2938 I would go and check the wiring harness, grounds, distribution box (fuses and relay). Look for any contact points where wires can rub against any shart metal objects as well.

Great video. I ended up finding that my ecm pins 20 21 22 23 didnt have any power. Truck had shut off in middle of highway. So i went back to batterries and the power to ecm had been cut by hitting the edge of the battery box.

I have a 97 Fld 120 Freightliner and it cranks up and starts but it takes a some time. But when it starts up it running great for about an hour, but if I come out of gear at a high speed it sputters and cuts off. but it cranks back up again
I need HELP! my celect plus will crank but no start. I can spray starting fluid and it fires up and will idle like normal. I can shut it off and try to crank again immediately it just cranks but no start.
Most likely you have air sucked into the fuel system. Check all connections for any leaks first. Before cranking crack one of the lines at the pump to verify the fuel.

Hey brotha! No I didn't fired up N14 Cumming when engine is removed but you need power and ground to the ECU wiring, starter feed and fuel then it should crank and fire up. Let me know how is your project.
