The old "gold under the blanket trick"; they always fall for it. The accent mark is the second shot to finish off Abe, who sounds like Billy Crystal. What a delightful movie.
I have a pair of replica 1847 Colt Walkers. They have 9” barrels and weigh 4-1/2 lbs each. History says that the Texas Mounted Riflemen carried them on Saddle mounted holsters and not on their personal gun belts. While I am a student of history, I love this movie, and this why I carry mine on personal holsters just like Josey Wales. Even if you know things aren’t historically correct, it is still fun to fantasize. There is nothing like a quick draw and shooting .44 roundballs with 60 grains black powder in each cylinder!
Fun pieces of history. In older writing and some westerns, you'll hear them called "horse pistols" for that very reason. They weren't intended to be worn. That came later.
They wrote this scene and wove it perfectly. The wounded kid was every bit important. Even Wales gets caught flat footed, and a ailing Confederate soldier comes to rescue. He died a hero, huh? Like he meant to be.
I kinda would like to see either some extended story lines and remakes of some older westerns. It would be cool starting out a movie with Clint Eastwood narrating about his younger days kinda like young guns
"Buzzards gotta eat too"-
Too many great quotes from this film
