Fantastic and most comprehensive nettle seed video I’ve watched, so much information without any nonsense or filler. Lots of love from a new UK subscriber. 👏
I've been learning about neetles and their various uses and they sound great, a really healthy option. However, I also heard that once the neetle plants flower you can no longer eat the leaves unless you cut the plant back to encourage new growth. Is this true and if so, how much of the plant do we cut back to encourage that new growth?
Hi! That is true not to harvest nettles after they flower. I would cut off the top and leave a couple of nodes (maybe 6 inches). It should sprout up from there.
Male Urtica dioica plants won't have seeds, and if the nettle is Urtica gracilis (as mine is in Minnesota), the plants have male and female flowers on the same plant. :)
@@jennykoczur9339 Thank you for that info Jenny! That is good to know. I am in Wisconsin so very likely have the same species. That explains why I am having a hard time differentiating between male and female plants. 😁 Appreciate the info!

Right on! Thanks for watching :)
In India- Nepal, nettle seeds are called "alu-dal". Himalayan nettle grows up to 10 ft tall, and the seeds are much bigger.
10 feet!!!! Wild. I bet they make great fiber.

True, you'll get painful and darker urine due to the crystals that form in the leaf.
Don't pick the leaves once they've flowered

Did you differentiate between male and female.
Right…you want the seeds from the female plant. That should be mentioned.
