I love your basenjis! Mine hasn't gone hunting with me but I'd love for her to.

are they good hunting dogs i really really want one even if i never hunt with it they seem so elegant and easy to train and they seem like the type of dog that wouldn't pop a squat on your carpet whenever they want

I know this is an old comment, but hopefully you haven't gotten one yet haha. Basenjis are most definitely an elegant dog, however they are not easy to train by any means. We own two female brindles and the Basenji is extremely intelligent and independent, and training them works fine, but as far as commands go, the command only lasts as long as the Basenji thinks it will get something out of it.

Basenjis are amazing creatures but they are never going to take down a deer unless it is a fawn and that would be a horrible thing to see.

They are on leash for a reason. Even without taking them down, it's not really necessary to have them chase them all through the forest.

@@JannekeJ87 by chasing the deer, the dogs can cause the deer to over heat. If the dogs don't bring the deer down, it can catch pneumonia and die anyhow.

@@aldenfloyd5432 as you can see, the dogs are on leash.

@@JannekeJ87 I'm sorry if I gave the wrong impression, I was just explaining what happens when dogs chase deer in the winter, not your dogs specifically sorry.
