I have this BG version, the strongarm and the freeman guide knives from Gerber. Gerber makes a nice fixed blade imo. As much as people hated on this BG knife I've actually been happy with it. The sheath is quite nice too. It's gotten plenty of use over the years and it hasn't broken or failed. You do have to sharpen it regularly, the steel is pretty "meh" and the serrations are a bit much. But it's a very useable survival knife. I'd take it over the freeman but I would not take it over the strongarm.
Surprised Gerber decided to copy the original Bear Grylls design and not the pro version which was full tang, better steel and had the ferro rod right side up.
If you wanted the pro version would you not be better buying the strong arm? Is that not a better knife? Good video I have the BG one which I’ve had for years. Considered the strong arm but ended up with the mora garberg instead.
Its a better fighting knife then survival. I have an original B.G. the fit in the hand is nice. Ok for light camping in a park or fishing. But i am saving up for the gerber strong arm. I just bought a mora at walmart the copanion 19.72. . its nice but its not a 60 buck mora. I do like the look of the ultimate tho and you get extras that you dont with mora. The shape is just so styled after most fighters. I collect and use all kinds. From buck to italy made autos to gas station knives that catch my eye. And iv had some cheap master and m techs thats lasted me years of factory work.
Funny video I like it i have the same knife and yeah ain't the best but if you have a good Sharpening skill, you can make of this a really great knife very sturdy
I liked how sincere you wete talking about , from one regular dude to another i can really tell you were being honest about the knife, and it wasn't some of that made up test, it would be great to have a better version of this knife, but i thini Gerber now keeps it i ñn different range and prices like pro knife militar grade arround 100 200 dlls or this for us normal folk about 20 40 dlls
Bought one recently and very happy with the blade. I am very much a part-time outdoors person so suits me fine. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm glad you like the knife!
I recently picked up this knife, love it. Nice review.
@@tennesseebrigadeanv1523 thanks for commenting. I like it way more than I thought I would.

Thanks for the comment. I could do with a little less serrations, but it's not bad.
GERBER needs to bring back the ultimate pro fine edge full tang with the sliding knife sharpener

I agree with you. I was disappointed myself!

@adamcooper7936 I did consider the strong-arm but was on a budget. Soon though.
I own this knife, this is a great knife.
hopefully this is a scheduled re-release and they bring the pro back

That second piece of wood was too nice in my opinion 😅😢
So would you say ka- bar is a better or equal knife?
@@tonyporenshenko425 ka-bar all the way
I just got one for $36 on Amazon. Overall I like it for the money and the stonewash finish is a plus.
@@MilledSteel nice. Sounds like you got it for a nice deal. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What up cuz! Just got home n caught this!
I forget y'all are an hour behind.
I have that same knife somewhere, the rubber handle came unglued after hard use 😂 other than that it was a solid knife
Plus with this humidity, it's going to turn all sticky.
@@DeepSouthEdc oh 1000%.
@crispydonutcommunity Can you tell me, please, how much metal the knife have under the handle?!
Yeah I usually don’t care for serrations either
If they made a full fine edge I may reconsider even though the handle wasn't for me.

@@christianmelchor6953 thanks for watching and commenting. And for thinking I am funny. Maybe they will remake the ultimate pro version.

Wish it was better stateless steal🎉
@@tonyporenshenko425 same, and full tang
Same knife as the BG version different colors. Not saying the knife is junk but will say Bear Grylls was an idiot.
Hahaha. I wish they would have done it in the full tang, full fine edge version.
@@DeepSouthEdc I agree with you on that.
I'm in Florida, what state are you in?
Louisiana
@@DeepSouthEdc cool, you're not too far away 👍
