    (Warning: Fairly long read):
    Hey muk! Despite the whole community thinking otherwise, I was one of the few people who LOVED the new quickness method for scrapper. Not being tied to 3+ gyros really makes the class way more versatile and FUN for me. I'd like to share some wisdom for those interested
    1. If it's a low KP group where I might need gyro res, I use some diviner pieces to free function gyro for versatility. Blast is good to help if your healer has bad might and it is an AoE stunbreak. Other options could be Bulwark gyro, purge gyro, Elixir B (Stability on toss) and more niche things you can do. Scrapper has great versatility
    2. Minefield hits boss for each mine, you chose small hitbox. In a real fight, you would actually run inside the boss hitbox during minefield cast animation to hit as many as possible. Does pretty good damage, try not to miss out on it
    3. A.E.D is amazing not just for static shock, but for the death denial effect. It allows you to deny things like Sabir's wave, so you can keep doing damage and keep your special action key (and the 25% dmg bonus it gives) because you can skip jumping up tornado. It's also really good at saving your ass in bad situations
    4. Superspeed is like the crack cocaine of guild wars 2, once you experience it in some encounters you constantly want more of it, and you're the only class that can output so much of it, so reliably in such big radius. Enjoy your MVP status in some groups because of that
    Thank you for spreading the good message of quick scrapper muk, I keep telling people it's one of the best quickness providers but people just go like "BuT mUh BrAiNDeAD GyRo SpAM" and it honestly sucks how these talks just boil down to "what is the most braindead" now :/

      As a qrapper main, I approve of this message. Not a raid / strike / fractal night with my guild goes by without someone yelling "Superspeed!" with glee. Recently found a new application for it by pushing a party member through the orb puzzle in Siren's Reef while we had Social Awkwardness. Had a blast (gyro)!

      I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was also one of the few that liked the new quickness method for scrapper (i argued with few people on reddit about it) and it's so much more versatyle and fun now. Sadly, most people don't even give this spec a chance because herald exists, which is further proof that people today just gravitate towards what is the most braindead easy to play.

      I'm on my 3rd week of raiding GW2 as Engi and 5th week of GW2. Finally tried qDPS scrapper and yes...I feel like the effortless Quickness uptime of Herald makes qDPS look bad, but also utility from all of the rest of the Engi kit means I am starting to feel my niche.
      I saw a LOT of people putting down the change to how Scrapper provides it's Quickness, but I know I prefer this even without having experienced the other part. It's nice to work for it, even if it makes it harder, especially when it also means you get to have more flexibility with things outside of just gyros.
      And yes I am one of those people that prefer complexity, enjoying 2-3 Kit Engi far more than no Kits.

      A lot of the people who hated the change are still living in a world where they think you can't reliably combo your own fields. Despite that being fixed for several years now.

    People are really sleeping on quick scrapper.
    A few tips:
    Since you overcap critical chance by a few %, you can run a bit of diviner without too much of a damage loss, allowing you to increase boon coverage.
    Relic of the midnight king is worth mentioning on scrapper too. It allows you to cover fury and lots of additional might easily, as you apply many disables. Fury is one gap of scrapper in terms of boons, so it can be safer. Also removes the requirement to run fireworks relic. Even though thief relic is 2% less than fireworks, so if you want to simplify it you can run that instead.
    Finally, healing turret is a water field that you can blast right after by detonating the turret. Can further help covering quickness.

    I miss old scraper I hate having to blast finisher and leap finisher to gen quickness.

      You know what i hate most about the scrapper quickness change? Boons effect certain costume skills. So if you have a dashing skill, like from Choya Pinata Tonic, and you had quickness plus superspeed, it would have you rocket forward. Old scrapper was perfect for that cheesy usage. No longer.

    As someone who loves Scrapper but despises kits, qDPS Scrapper with 0 kits is really nice. Subbing in a few piece of Diviners at cost of some DPS is also a great way to make your Quick stretch longer with fewer obligations to Fields and Finishers. It's 'less DPS' but it's still DPS gear.

    Been a Scrapper main for a long time and it’s super fun. I do miss the pre-finisher quickness change Scrapper but it’s still mostly the same and still a ton of fun.

    I don't think blast gyro is enough for 25 stacks of might in the group. Blast gyro is 8 stacks of might + 6 from both blast finishers. The rest probably comes from the hammer AA, which only applies to the scrapper.

      True, but this is a QDPS, usually your heal supports bring in the other boons like might. The fact that this brings any utility at all, might and rez on a short cooldown, is already pulling it's weight and then some.
      Not sayin I like that situation, just that that's how it is currently.

      You can optionally take Pinpoint Distribution for 5 extra permanent upkeep party might stacks, but doing so means you're forsaking the personal fury and bonus ferocity from No Scope. You can take or leave the fury but it's a pretty hefty chunk of ferocity to give up.

      Honestly most power dps classes are stacking their own might anyway so gyro is usually enough

    One thing to note re: scrapper's revive potential, the function gyro is a little more fragile than other fire-for-effect skills like druid and scourge have.
    The gyro has an actual HP bar, so if it takes too much damage it'll die before it finishes reviving an ally. So on something like boneskinner (ignoring the damage the downed ally takes from the fingers) the gyro will likely break before it has the chance to do any meaningful reviving. Moreover, if the gyro gets CC'd by any means, it'll stop channeling the revive and break after its 10 seconds of fuel runs out. So on something like Samarog CM, where knocks are flying around all over the place, chances are it'll get thrown off its target before it has the chance to bring them back up. The gyro can technically take stability, but in an organized group, it's gonna have to go through the subgroup and ranger pets first before it has a chance to take boons.
    So in a vacuum it's nice to have the utility, but in a lot of fights it can be fully negated by passive damage or a stray CC effect. So I understand why SC builds around its self-finisher quickness application instead of saving it for utility.

    You missed one pretty neat thing. The Blast Gyro is a low cooldown(15 secs) ability that is packed with utility. Combo field + blast finisher, CC, might generation and superspeed(if traited), but it has one more, pretty awesome feature, namely it's toolbelt skill Bypass Coating which breaks stuns for your allies in a 240 radius and has 20 seconds cooldown. To me Blast Gyro is a must for quickness Scrapper.

    QDPS Scrapper has been my go-to on my main for a long time. I wasn't too fussed by the finisher changes, just cause there's so many ways to get blast and leap finishers, still enjoy it a lot.
    I'll admit I often save the function gyro for emergencies rather than using it offensively, though.

    I don't really have a main because I like to multi-class. But Quick DPS Scrapper is so fun to play that I couldn't resist the urge to draw full art of my Scrapper Charr instead of any other class I've played haha.

    I think most of this has been covered at some point by other folks down below but as a holo/scrapper main let me throw my thoughts in here too:
    - My personal favorite setup is grenades/blast gyro/mines. Grenades help trigger one of your traits in explosives, Aim-Assisted Rocket, which also counts as a blast finisher and Blast Gyro having a fairly short cooldown + the stunbreak is extremely helpful to have. Another point for grenade kit is that you can cancel Hammer 3 if you lose target and start to fly away by equipping/dropping the kit immediately.
    - You don't *need* to use function for boons if you're running an extra blast finisher like blast gyro, but I like to use it on pull at least to get quickness out immediately or if I'm confident in my group it lets me stack up quickness far easier to make up for any downtime.
    - Scrapper's CC is INSANE. Hammer 5, Static Shock, and Throw Mine are obvious but you also have chill/blind both from grenades and mortar, and multiple lightning fields where leap finishers (hammer 3) will daze.
    - You mentioned Hammer 4 but Hammer 3 actually has a few evades in it as well. Any time you're moving forward you're evading, though when you stop you're vulnerable. It's tricky but once you get used to it you almost never have to actually dodge an attack between the two.
    Scrapper is easily my favorite bdps in the game and at this point I've tried almost all of them (I think specter's the only one left). You're a borderline tank, can solo breakbars, have flexibility in your utility if you're willing to drop some damage, and the Hammer 2/Grenade 2 combo just feels so nice for some reason to me. Also superspeed.

      Not to mention Grenade 4&5 and the Kit skill proc your Firework Relic. I run the same utilities as you and find it really easy to upkeep Quickness like you say so Function Gyro can be up when you need it. I also occasionally swap the Grenade kit for Bulwark Gyro on things like Boneskinner and even Dragon Storm where Bubbles, extra reactive Barrier and Stability help. It's a DPS hit, but not enough that I feel like I'm not pulling my weight in Damage.

    Just to add..not much was mentioned here about the subsquad superspeed uptime. (It can be incredibly useful for movement mechanics like Matthias wells/special actions)

    Heck, I have one more pretty nice thing to share about this build. It requires you to take Grenade Kit unfortuatelly(or fortunatelly, I personally like engie's kits). Today I took my low lvl engie to PvP lobby to try out Scrapper. In Explosives trait line there is an Aim-Assisted Rocket trait that fires a rocket every 3 seconds when hitting enemies with missiles(For Scrapper the best option are Grenades, Mortar Kit missiles also count), but after firing 4 rockets this way an Orbital Strike is called instead which is a blast finisher that helps you with quickness generation. It's not a game changer, but it's an additional blast finisher every ~20 seconds which is pretty neat. I have to admit I was planning to main ranger but after seeing all those things that Scrapper has in it's kit I gotta change my plans :D

    Alac Mech is surely coming up and I would love to see your thoughts on the difference between Power Alac Mech and Condi Alac Mech that's on Snow Crows as they both play differently and each is fun in their own way. I personally was surprised by the Condi version. At first, I was intimidated by the number of kits it has, but it turned out to be really fun

    When I play qDPS Scrapper, I like to replace AED with Heal Turret for an extra blast. You do sacrifice your heal to give quickness, but you also have a water field on the f1 that you can leap/blast for heals if your healer isn't healing you :P

    I used to main vindicator/herald, i switched to scrapper for most instances content (fractals/strikes) very very tanky while doing a lot of dommage and face tanking everything.

    Just my 2 cents. Using sword pistol combo with throw mines and blzst. I don't have trouble keeping quickness without touching the function gyro.

    Looks fun and I will try it. I haven't yet because quick Scrapper is not meta so I've been using quick Herald which is fine. But alac-dps Mech is my main and it would be nice to have it all on one toon (plus I need to learn heal-alac mech).

      Quick Scrapper is amazing for open world! And for group content, if Quickness is already covered, you can go full DPS by simply changing the last Scrapper trait.

    So the thing is, you don't need function gyro to upkeep quickness. You have an additional blast finisher from the orbital strike coming from the Aim Assisted Rocket trait. Even more so if you swap blast gyro for shredder gyro.

      @@MuklukUA-cam I think it's the Blast Gyro that makes the difference, it means you maintain Might a lot easier and also has an extra blast finisher that blasts itself. It makes Quickness uptime trivial. Especially if you are aligning it with Mine and Rocket Charge.

    I used to like getting quick herald into my group but like half of them refuse to give stab so our alac heals just end up giving it instead. (used to have HAT and Scourge so it was a slight struggle from time to time, nowadays we got stab from our regular players.)
    Anyway, interesting build, might consider it myself if I feel like bdps chrono is too hard, rn playing mostly heal chrono and HAT, but trying to learn bdps.

    looking through comments I don't think I'm seeing it, but you can take healing turret for another blast finisher, put it down then explode it for a field then combo in that field

      I may or may not have commented before hearing the reason for AED, but I'd still say its an option if you want more comfy quickness, just lower uptime on fireworks isn't a huge deal or even swapping to relic of thief wouldn't lower damage that much

    I find I prefer the heal gyro just to provide my team superspeed. Movement speed helps everyone. You also forgot to mention that blast gyro's toolbelt skill is a group stunbreak. If your team lacks something, you also have the option to take another gyro (like bulwark gyro for bubble, stability, and barrier) and you would only lose some damage.

      I like taking it in fights like Twin Largos where you'll be moving a lot, it helps to have a gyro combo field that will follow you when your H3 is gapclosing if blast gyro is on CD.

      A.E.D. also provides superspeed in the same radius around you and the same duration like heal gyro so there is no difference in that. You get the water field and the group healing as well as some protection from heal gyro but loose the CC, Fireworks Relic activation, and self superspeed (dps increase) from A.E.D. F1, plus the immortality for some mechanics like i.e. Sabir Shockwave.

      @@thorlus No, wells give additional superspeed because it's a well. AED will give superspeed because of the trait 'Speed of Synergy' whereas the healing gyro benefits from this but also 'Gyroscopic Acceleration'. Additionally, healing gyro is on a 20s cooldown whereas AED has a 24s cooldown.

    I love to play quick scrapper. It's my main class from a very long time now (before the big changement they did to scrapper forcing people to do combo). In some way, their changement to make people doing combmo to provide quick isn't a bad things because it's make people learn more their class correctly. Of course we must be really carreful with hammer 3 because it can be a dead end on some situation.
    But quick scrapper is so much fun, specially in area/meta/fractal with many mobs. We do a lot of dmg (until someone decide to destroy the pull of some people (mesmer skill by exemple) with pushing mobs away XD (hello mech mortar or overcharger shot by exemple) ).
    And we can provide lot of utility skill too if needed (stab etc etc).
    But i must say that i love function gyro specially as scrapper because it can really save a lot of situation.
    I enjoyed scrapper before the nerf, i still enjoy it. The little con about quickscrapper is maybe in situation where we need to split a lot. It can be a problem since we need to do combo. We need to manage in these situation.
    But i recently wanting to try alac heal mech since it's seems a good friendly beginner class for healing.

    I like the idea of pairing scrapper with HAM for the revive, but considering that HAM and scrapper don't really provide reliable stability can still be an issue.

      You can swap in Bulwark instead of Grenades, I generally do it on Boneskinner (normally for the Projectile bubble and Barrier) and often on Dragon Storm if my sub is lacking Stab, it has a really short cooldown and gives 3 stacks of Stab.

    Question: With how easy it is to cap out Crit Chance on Scrapper (only need 45% with the right talents), why do so many people choose Aim-Assisted Rockets over Explosive Temper?
    I would assume that if you are almost always getting critical hits then gaining more Ferocity to up the Crit damage would be best, especially since rockets say they need "Missile hits" to proc and there aren't many of those outside of Grenade kit/mortars.

      If you run grenade kit, Explosive Temper might be better, as you will easily top it to 10 stacks and keep it there by swapping it constantly (Weapon 2 > Grenade 2 > Grenade 4/5 > stow grenade). Aim-Assisted Rocket is easier to manage, and it has blast finisher after the 3rd rocket, so you might end up blasting field and apply quickness.
      By the way, full Berserker build is enough to crit-cap. Thanks to Firearm trait (Hematic Focus and No Scope).

      Aim-Assisted Rockets has a small bit lower dps, but help with maintaining Big Boomer, which is a stronger multiplier. (15% damage on everything).
      Without AAR, Granade Kit can techinically cover about 50% on Big Boomer. AAR help cover by the delayed Rockets (generally delayed by 1 sec after your projectile hit). And you can proc the AAR with Thunder Clap (hammer 5) and Shredder Gyro's whirl finisher to cover more of Big Boomer. so it become net dps increase in the end.

      Oh and also, there is an optimal power to ferocity ratio. The current build is optimized to be as close to it with AAR.

    And you didn't even cover the versatility you've got in the first column of scrapper trait choices: perma party superspeed, extra CC and party barrier share, or party stab on function gyro. Awesome class.

    Personally I feel like the change to Scrapper was made due to the general playerbase (not just Scrapper) saying "you just press a few buttons; this is too easy".
    Glad some folks enjoy it, but it seems like a waste to achieve optimal buffs by tethering boon-upkeep to two or three utilities and not one long cooldown on one. Just my perspective, though; more work for the sake of keeping things interesting.

      This is what I do. The extra range and firework uptime help damage a bit at the cost of a bit of CC from toolbelt. It might not be as necessary since they fixed toolbelt skills to proc firework and mortar kit is there as a backup, just be sure you stand in the field

    Okay so thought here: I've been playing Qdps Scrapper with Shortbow for the extra blast finishers and boon. keep in mind I'm running as much concentration I can with Diviner gear and pack runes. It feels good to me, cant really speak to the dps but it made things like Hell Sister pretty easy.

      You don't really need the Diviners gear and Pack Runes. I've been running Shortbow + qDPS Scrapper for open world and it can maintain permanent Quickness and 25 stacks of Might without needing any Concentration. And is actually fairly spikey damage wise, as if you initiate with a Blast Gyro+Mine as you run in and then dump your Shortbow AoEs on yourself you will clear packs of Veterans almost instantaneously.

    Why is Aim Assisted Rocket on the build? Is it because of Mortar Kit?

      I assume because it is the highest dps option in that column. (it used to not work with hammer due to a range limitation but that was removed last year I believe, so it works with all weapons now)

      @@MuklukUA-cam *EDIT* (Ohhhhhh I bet that trait was there because the original build had Grenade Kit which I believe those skills also count as projectiles. So, switching to Blast Gyro may reduce the usefulness of AAR somewhat but won't be useless since you kept Mortar Kit.) *CLOSE EDIT* Ok, it must be because of Mortar kit since its skills are affected by AAR though nothing else on your bar is. Wiki does say it is still Missiles only that trigger it.

      AAR generates orbital strike which is actually blast finisher so it helps with quickness uptime

    One of the common complaints you made during your heal series was "how many skills to learn". Never played scrapper before but there were 20 skills to memorise. 5 weapon, 5 utility, 5 tool kit and 5 mortar kit. Just something worth mentioning here I think

      I can tell you right now most of the mortar kit does not matter. 1 is generic ranged attack, 2-5 is a field for combos. What exactly they do, IDK and IDC for the most part. Just shoot a field when you need a field, and swap off.
      The tools matter a little more, but are easy enough to get the hang of. Main thing ya need to note is which ones are your combo field generators. On my scrapper, that's f1 (heal toolbelt skill for medic gyro) f3 (whirl gyro) and f5 (function gyro, aka where elite would be on vanilla engie). These 3 are the same skill in my eyes. They all say 'create a combo field'.
      F2 is stunbreak (blast gyro) and f4 is damage (land mine). So there, I just turned 10 skills into 5 with some mental compacting.
      If we want to compact it further, only two hammer skills matter, 3 (double leap) and 5 (combo field). Rest are all the same button in my eyes, press them to do damage. Blast and whirl gyro are the same thing. So we compacted 7 more skills into just 4.
      So you now only have 9 buttons. Combo field tool belts, stun break tool belt, damage toolbelt. Damage weapon, leap finish weapon, combo field weapon. Heal, combo field, blast finisher, generic ranged projectile, and up to 4 on demand combo fields incase you somehow need more. Mortar kit only exists to fill your lack of ranged gap, and as a redundancy tool, because you didn't have enough of that already. XD
      If it really is too much, emergency drop is a blast finisher, and just one button.

    I tried hammer for pve... It's so clunky and slow. Rifle i guess is much more reliable for pve but hammer in pvp and wvw, its absolutely AMAZING!!! Especially if you pair it with mortars. Its absolutely GRAVY.
    (Not adding nades cuz its honestly overrated and I'm sick and tired of having to rely on nades. I'd take mortar and flamethrower any day before i take nades again)

      heres q trick!, if you are mid hammer 3, use MORTAR KIT THEN IMMEDIATELY TAB OFF WITH WEAPON SWAP. Dont click mortar kit again, just click weapon swap. THIS WILL FULLY STOP THE ANIMATION OF HAMMER 3 if you do it quick enough.

      @@marcelozampieri1100 Strangely on Boneskinner the evade frames and barrier you get from damage normally means you're fine even if you mistime it. I've had many a time I'm there chilling in the fingers and then just roll out as soon as it finishes.

      I'm sure rifle would work fine, pistols are mostly condi so not sure on that regard.

      @@MuklukUA-cam the thing is I used the pistols on the golem and I made sure I put the golem with 25 stacks of vulnerability, and me with 25 stacks of might, fury, quickness, alacrity, stability and swiftness... It made the 2nd skill do about 12-13k damage and the 4th and 5th skill doing tremendous burst damage. Like it significant does more damage than the rifle for some reason. The only bad thing about it is that it has terrible auto, a terrible 3rd skill, and the 2nd skill is single target. I even solo'd a couple of champions with it and it does significantly better than the rifle cuz of how fast it is and how it pairs well with the firework relic. Tried it in WvW and it practically deleted their health bar but a shield is a better pair with the pistol because of how effective the defense is. I really think ANet should look into this cuz it's got some MAJOR potential to be a proper power scaling weapon cuz of how effective it is.

      I haven't tried it myself and can't say how it compares DPS wise in instanced content, but I've seen a lot of people use rifle as well for Q scrapper and say either works, at least in the open world.
      The downside is it won't work with Relic of Fireworks, and you trade the two defensive tools and a combo field for the ranged potential.

      Sorry about that, the main change I did was took grenade kit off the bar and added blast gyro, then I used blast gyro -> throw mine together for a combo due to similar cooldown times. The rest was as the guide taught.
