@@DaKdawg honestly the WoW team was always capable, they just needed to pull their heads out of their asses. I hope that finally happened, somewhat at least.
As a new WoW but a long time Guild Wars 2 player, a lot of these features seem very familiar as they've been a staple in GW2. It is nice to see some of those quality of life changes coming to WoW.
Blizzard's doing really cool and exciting things with WoW and I kind of love it. Big round of applause to see it. Really love the Warbands feature in particular.
Delves sound like some of the jumping puzzles in Guild Wars 2. They have some platform gameplay, some combat, and you explore a cave to get some loot at the end.
Plus shared storage+resources, account wide achievements, the flying mounts, moving to regular mini expansions. They are stealing ideas from GW2! (a good thing)
I swear this game alternates between the most high end, intensive, esoteric number crunching and the most braindead faceroll-y cotent humanity has ever conceived. There continues to be no middle ground.
I just hope each Delve is unique and not some copy & pasted cave over and over. WoW does that too much, reusing assets every patch and expansion. I'd like more of this stuff to be hidden though. Provide random content for us to find and explore while leveling, that would make me want to be out in the world and discovering new things.
So excited for the Warband transmog system. Far too many times I've gotten items that I've farmed for years on a character that can wear it -- only to never have it drop, except on an alt that can't use it.
maybe they will do that at some point. considering that they are accepting the idea that your characters exist together inside your account, they might consider in the future that they might as well just go and do shit with you. i wouldnt expect them to have a personality but sure they will have some power to help you. probably they could have a set of skills that they will cast, standard for every class.
That would probably be a demanding and tricky thing to pull off, but if they really do want to invest in Delves and Warbands in the future, it would be a great idea. Would also encourage people to have multiple characters of multiple playstyles levelled. That might be good (key word being might, it could very well go wrong, especially with how many WoW players go for over-efficiency)
@@GeneralSmolderasthey might be headed into that direction. consider that through the expansions they updated different classes and skills to make them more modern. so what you say, i see that as highly probable.
@@mort6578 it was the best choice to make that hero spec, they can more easily tweak it mid course without doing definitive damage to the great work they pulled off in DF. And since they are planing a 3 xpac run, they will probably feel less forced to add "new" and "evergreen" stuff each xpac without people getting bored, they can just expand on this concept of hero class. I don't know but all this seem very well thought for once (hey they had 20 years to learn) They could even make the hero spec evolve into a mist of pandaria type of tree that is pure bonus on top of the base class and spec, with new spells that synergize with various specs in different ways
Between Season of Discovery and many of the changes coming in The War Within such as the new spell book and hero talents they are clearly taking notice and lessons from Project Ascension (Classless WoW). Obviously, this makes sense and it makes even more sense that the developers are actually playing on Project Ascension and that would be supported by the fact that we know they were playing on many of the private servers hosting hard-core, which is what led them to decide to make their own hard-core server
Kinda hyped for the new character selection screen, makes sense now that you have more account wide progression. Gona be cool to have a gang of your favourite classes in matching gear on one screen. Its just a UI thing, but I can already tell it's gona be a huge W for making the game and characters feel more integrated as "your own" characters, but still unique to their own classes. And I think now I will have more incentive to try out new classes where the leveling and grind was simply too daunting before. A more diverse gaming experience with different classes, more playtime. win win for players and blizz.
The hero talents are a really good addition. Good direction. Future content progression could be additional hero archetypes to discover, or additional morphs to hero talents (damage types, attributes, etc.). This panel makes me want to resub. I will have to see if 10.2 is worth getting into though.
@@Roald94 sure, that may be relavent but it is also a good idea for the game regardless of wc3. Wc3 may inform some of the hero archetypes, but this is a good idea for some flavor, future expansion flavor, and progression that will not overly complicate it like the 10+... tbc, wotlk, etc.
@@nonstopjoliver dont get me wrong, i like the direction they are taking. also i you consider the classic season of discovery, this is a test on how they could apply this to retail later. i remember people liked to experiment with talents and gems before and tried shit that normally crazy to try, like tanking with a class that was not meant for that. so... add more flavor to wow? yes please.
A lot of good changes and system improvements. Hopefully the Hero Class will feel significant as a specialization rather than just some extra bonuses. If they add some housing, improve the DF crafting system, and bring back a consistent Mage Tower / Brawler's Guild as evergreen systems the game would be in a good place for me. Edit: And maybe some more fun things like the dragonriding races. Having a number of fun events that pop up every so often would make the world feel a lot more engaging as well.
I doubt this would be the best time to do housing lorewise because of a coming apocalypse, but WoW 2 would be a good bet for that...yes its gonna happen.
I'm actually pretty excited for Delve. Blizzard can't write a story worth shit these days, but they're at their best when stealing and improving on other games mechanics. They should do that more. Equipable NPC companions that fight with you is also pretty hype for me, sounds kind of like guild wars heroes. Warbands sounds like the legacy system from SWTOR which was great. Rare to say, but blizzard gets all W's today. Now lets see if they follow through on it.
This had me on the edge of wanting to come back. The biggest W for me was the new BG, but I'd like to see more 40man bgs and updates to the old ones like Isle of Conquest. Not Ashran though, I wish they remove it from the queue.
ashran is nice when you have people to play with, i once queued ashran bg when it was that event where its permanent ashran and i queued up with a bg leader that had macros set up with messages like "follow me" "stack with me " "hold this zone" "push now" and we were playing it like a strategy game, it felt like we were playing warcraft 3, and surprisingly everyone was listening to him... we did events, regrouping, holding and won super hard untill the enemy team got the same experienced bg leader with commands , and it was insane how we were 40 v 40 and everyone was grouped and civilized, we were moving according to enemy movement and finally we ended up clashing every like 5-10 min with the enemy in epic battles. Everyone was grouping for objectives , farming scrolls, consumables, even giving me ( as a healer) the tip that if i click on a fire mote at the ogres i get infinite mana ( really really high mana regen) for like 10 minutes, and then after i get it we started epic fights. I spent my entire day in ashran and it was the best day i had in a while. But yea, 90% of ashrans with random ppl are just zug zugs that spread out across the entire map, ignore objectives and do nothing.
@@zombesn Almost everybody but you two hates that guy. He's barking in your face every 30 seconds. The only reason he's there is because he's too bad to play RBG. Notice that you don't him see play alliance anymore-that's because the ally veterans got together and told him where to go. He regularly gets banned for breaking the t&c with communication software but for some reason Blizzard keep letting him back in. Do me a favour if you like that sort of gameplay and go play RBG and do not infect regular pvp with it.
@@zombesn I ended up in Ashran a lot during Dragonflight. The first time of the week I didn't mind because of the honor and conquest quests associated with it, but after that I left 80% of the matches when I joined simply because I do not like being forced down a lane of death where 35 people will TAB target you if you're the closest enemy. The other 20% being 10% joined midgame and we're winning or 10% we got that leader guy to call the shots and pull a quick win most of the time. Note that I will always leave Ashran if I'm melee dps and not a Death Knight who can grip, because the other melee dps just dies straight away or remain stuck in a cycle of not being able to do anything at all to the enemy team without dying.
Or make the 40v40's rated so everyone will actually try to win...I don't play them anymore just because nobody tries and it's a waste of 20 to 30 minutes
It only took them 20 years to add these fundamental features that many other MMO have had for over a decade. Maybe Chris Metzen's leaving and coming back brought much needed perspectives.
As a returning player, I received a boost to 70 for buying the war within, I loved every bit of changed they did in Dragon Flight, what they are adding next is also amaaaaaazing. However, the thing I mostly hated... the amount of currency... it over complicates things... AND... the limitation to how many quests I can have active.... 50 is not enough...
lol true not a wow player but a lotro player....50 quests is usually the amount of unsoloable group content you gathered while leveling and you dont want to cancel them because you know you wont care to fetch them back so you do the whole endgame managing 2 or 3 quests slots ^^
To quote an old game about the "why" of this sudden turnaround in retail WoW... "Of course they're desperate. They can smell their death and the sound they'll make rattling their cage will serve as a warning to the rest." This is nothing more than the reaction of company execs panicking about their falling stocks and profits finally listening to the actual game designers and programmers instead of marketing for any hope of salvation. The moment the game goes back up, they'll grow arrogant again.
Delves will be coming to the old-world because they're focused on returning there in Midnight and The Last Titan. One could only assume that Delves (a permanent aspect of the game moving forward) will be coming all across Azeroth. ❤
It only took 20 years for Blizzard to figure out that the fanbase's wants are more important than theirs. I hope they bring WoW back to being something people enjoy. Instead of a game people play just to complain about the downfall of. I actually want to play again. Im actually excited for an expansion again. This hasnt been the case since TBC for me so I finally have a sense of relief about the future of WoW.
All of this sounds amazing, but WoW will never be "saved" or "good again" until they find a way to make all the back content worth playing. Even with all of this stuff, you're still just confined to whatever the newest expansion is, and that's the biggest issue. The world is HUGE but you only use .001% of it.
I'm genuinely considering returning to retail for this xpansion, actually seems interesting and as if they're TRYING to do better for the players. There's still a lot of time between now and then, so ya never know, maybe there'll be another scandal 😂 However, I am pleasantly surprised with both retail and classic, can't wait to try season of discovery. Rare blizzard W.
Delves look like DDO adventures, which I think are the most positive aspect of that game. I hope it also becomes something like an actual delve, using environment and non combat skills as well as combat of course, and with flexibility to those that just want action action action or a more methodical game can both enjoy.
Saying it and following through with it is something blizzard has always struggled with. Ill believe the good words when i see it point blank... I do not trust words from any blizzard employee.
Sick of being excited for retail and then it ending up being shit. Has happened since cata.... blizzcon always sounds great. Do not fall for it this time until they prove it with actual released content
A voice of reason. I will only be impressed after the initial feed back. They are not prepared for the millions of players with banks filled to the gills with stuff to come online and dump into the bank tabs. It's gonna be wildly successful and buttery smooth or the most epic dumpster fire to bear witness to.
Asmon about delves “all this sounds good” while in fact it sounds exact like the mechanism in D4 dungeons, which sucks like hell and most people hate 🤣
I havent touched wow since legion but this actually makes me consider giving it another chance. A lot of very good sounding changes. Only thing i am not a fan of is soulbound still beeing a thing. I'd rather gear be "warbound" so you can send it to alts even after equipping them once.
ive played wow over the years but never ever got passed the new player experience, recently been messing around in classic and retail, at the moment im enjoying retail alot more cause of how fast the combat is, but im also excited for whats coming to classic and especially retail seeing that the game for a new player feels very messy and almost like a dead game, so getting a cohesive story i think will be great for new players like me
excited for the cross-realm guilds, ever since all my friends stopped playing I've felt like there is no reason to play anymore. but this makes me think maybe I'll be able to create new friends between realms!
something i really like about asmon is he listens to what some random commenters think, i remember suggesting he get the volume balancer that hasan uses, boom, probably reached out to hasan and asked what it was. makes it a lot better as I and many other people dont use headphones so makes it hard to hear if its not balanced correctly, thanks !
Delves sound perfect for someone like me, I havnt played much longer after finishing the past few expansions because it seemed like the only way to get meaningful gear was to do Mythic Plus or rated pvp. I like pvp but just like doing casual battlegrounds. Arena and Mythic Plus were just too sweaty for me. These Delves sound awesome!
I got a little choked up when they announced warbands yesterday lmao, all these years suffering through the rep and currency grinds on multiple characters killed my soul little by little and now, finally the nightmare is over.
I know this may be a fringe request, but as a druid main that likes to play all specs in different aspects of the game, we need more saved talent builds. Having ST, AoE, pvp builds saved in 1 spec, sometimes multiple for different activities like M+ and raid as feral and tank, then swapping to healer or boomy to round out a group and not being able to have a saved build for them sucks.
Shared reputations is the thing I’ve wanted for like 10 years. I want the feeling of going into the reputation bar and seeing all to exalted. It has made me locked into my main.
i kinda see the hero specs being like the elite specializations in gw2. that would be cool if they delivered a unique play style like in gw2. like a ranged death night or a melee priest? im really hoping for a massive w for the hero specs brining some fresh relief for the game!
honestly by the sound of it they are taking the best things from many of the best mmos and bringing it to wow and improving on it. honestly many of the warband things is amazing especially reputation and achievements. im very excited for the class changes gives more way for builds. honestly past many years builds have been stuck towards same builds with no exploring of builds which bores me. cross realm guilds will be amazing for raiding content.
How are they doing the delve transition without loading screens? Since everyone /group will clearly need their own instance, it seems like they'll be doing it with layers somehow. I suspect there's going to be problems...
I hope they start to make old content relevant again, at least making dungeons playable despite your level like in FFXIV. Would be cool to get a MoP dungeon when queuing for a random etc.
I'm happy to see the Delves and I like the sound of them. I feel that the open world is WoW's greatest strength and yet the endgame drives players to spend the vast majority of their time in instanced content.
@@Beranin Bolt - but not spec. Cata is when they implemented forced-specs, whereby you couldn't plot your talent points however you wanted, you had to choose a tree and couldn't spec out of it aside from very few points.

There continues to be no middle ground.
they were always good on hyping ppl on blizzcon, but after all the mess we gone through i cant get excited anymore
I just hope each Delve is unique and not some copy & pasted cave over and over. WoW does that too much, reusing assets every patch and expansion. I'd like more of this stuff to be hidden though. Provide random content for us to find and explore while leveling, that would make me want to be out in the world and discovering new things.
@@erikholum4772 Everything in WoW is just one giant target dummy. The only thing that changes are the swirlies that you need to move out of.
I might actually want to play wow again. If they can get these changes through, this becomes a game worth coming back to. Good shit.
Mee too man, w. cross real guilds itll be easier for lots of us to play together
So excited for the Warband transmog system. Far too many times I've gotten items that I've farmed for years on a character that can wear it -- only to never have it drop, except on an alt that can't use it.
Nice profile photo.
would be so cool if your own characters could come and do delves with you like npcs
maybe they will do that at some point. considering that they are accepting the idea that your characters exist together inside your account, they might consider in the future that they might as well just go and do shit with you. i wouldnt expect them to have a personality but sure they will have some power to help you. probably they could have a set of skills that they will cast, standard for every class.
It seems like that would be the natural direction to take with delves.
Yes yes yes, just like heroes in Guild Wars 1
Baby steps my friend, Baby steps.
I really hope they add visual changes to abilities. like make sure dks have wings if they use san'layn, add fantasy to these!
this probably is a experiment to test this new system, and then apply some visual elements to make it more apealing.
If I remember the mock up they did of a warrior doing some abilities to show off hero specs, there were some nice visual differences
In the examples they gave, this is exactly what they are doing.
if they make stormbringer shaman call down thunderstorms everywhere and stormbringer on steroids, update their vfx it's gonna be crazy
@@GeneralSmolderasthey might be headed into that direction. consider that through the expansions they updated different classes and skills to make them more modern. so what you say, i see that as highly probable.
adding hero specs basically multiply the ridiculous amount of classes in wow by X hero specs. This is completely over the top and I love it
Class identity going through the roof now. I'm stoked
And a balance nightmare, as we have seen before. I hope they pull it off.
I don't know but all this seem very well thought for once (hey they had 20 years to learn)
They could even make the hero spec evolve into a mist of pandaria type of tree that is pure bonus on top of the base class and spec, with new spells that synergize with various specs in different ways
Haven't heard a single thing I didn't like, excited to see how it plays out
Between Season of Discovery and many of the changes coming in The War Within such as the new spell book and hero talents they are clearly taking notice and lessons from Project Ascension (Classless WoW). Obviously, this makes sense and it makes even more sense that the developers are actually playing on Project Ascension and that would be supported by the fact that we know they were playing on many of the private servers hosting hard-core, which is what led them to decide to make their own hard-core server
Its nice to see they are learning from the modders
What Sword? lmao
Seeing Asmon change his shirt is rare. But I could see him wear this.
I will have to see if 10.2 is worth getting into though.
this seems to me that they are adding this archetypes to apeal to the older warcraft audience, the ones who played W3 and so.
@@nonstopjoliver dont get me wrong, i like the direction they are taking. also i you consider the classic season of discovery, this is a test on how they could apply this to retail later. i remember people liked to experiment with talents and gems before and tried shit that normally crazy to try, like tanking with a class that was not meant for that. so... add more flavor to wow? yes please.
Delves sound like scenarios from a previous expansion, and there just bringing back an old concept.
He’s a fantastic presenter.
It helps when you have the best content in blizzcon. This was way better than the whats next one in terms of content
Dont get hyped for Delves, remember how cool Torghast looked?
All of these changes look awesome to me and makes me excited to come back and play wow after not playing for years.
I've been doing the dragonriding challenge races and they are legit fun and a true challenge I've enjoyed it
I doubt this would be the best time to do housing lorewise because of a coming apocalypse, but WoW 2 would be a good bet for that...yes its gonna happen.
I am not a WoW player but I'm happy to see this, hope this brings more competition to FFXIV and we get some real QOL stuff like this too
Agreed.
This seems like the most positivity the game has gotten in such a long time.
This has me actually excited to return to WoW for the new expansion. I basically just watched 45 straight minutes of raw W's
I've never seen Ion so happy. You love to see it.
The amount of Ws is insane, it's about time
It's like Metzen gave them a one sentence solution to wow as soon he stepped into the meeting room: Give them what they want.
@@zombesn Been in an Ashran game just like this, was great - Felt like GW2 world vs world for a little while lol.
Ian looks EXHAUSTED bro... bless him LOL
I want to see more deadmines style content. The feeling you get from that dungeon literally every wow player remembers.
To quote an old game about the "why" of this sudden turnaround in retail WoW... "Of course they're desperate. They can smell their death and the sound they'll make rattling their cage will serve as a warning to the rest."
This is nothing more than the reaction of company execs panicking about their falling stocks and profits finally listening to the actual game designers and programmers instead of marketing for any hope of salvation.
This hasnt been the case since TBC for me so I finally have a sense of relief about the future of WoW.
wow is a display of the stockholm syndrom in the video game world
I'm confused, where is all the negative stuff? Blizzard can't just do postive things, are they even allowed to do that?
Blizzard actually improving the game??? Thats impossible!!
Oh don't worry. This is Blizzard we are talking about. Their rep is stainless in that regard. 😂
All of this sounds amazing, but WoW will never be "saved" or "good again" until they find a way to make all the back content worth playing. Even with all of this stuff, you're still just confined to whatever the newest expansion is, and that's the biggest issue. The world is HUGE but you only use .001% of it.
Jesus my heart sank when I heard McConnell's prepubescent voice crack over everything and everyone speaking normally. I'd thought he'd gone away.
I feel like Blizzard just said "so you know how we've ignored you for 20 years? So ya were actually going to listen to you now."
I'm genuinely considering returning to retail for this xpansion, actually seems interesting and as if they're TRYING to do better for the players.
There's still a lot of time between now and then, so ya never know, maybe there'll be another scandal 😂
However, I am pleasantly surprised with both retail and classic, can't wait to try season of discovery.
I don't even play WoW but seeing all the QoL and alt friendly/ mandatory grinding reduction just seems like a W....makes me even want to try the game
I havent touched wow since legion but this actually makes me consider giving it another chance.
A lot of very good sounding changes.
Only thing i am not a fan of is soulbound still beeing a thing. I'd rather gear be "warbound" so you can send it to alts even after equipping them once.
Every thing announced is amazing.
Well done Ion and Team!
I haven't been this excited for an expansion since Wrath. The changes all seem for the better, hopefully time will judge me correct on this.
ive played wow over the years but never ever got passed the new player experience, recently been messing around in classic and retail, at the moment im enjoying retail alot more cause of how fast the combat is, but im also excited for whats coming to classic and especially retail seeing that the game for a new player feels very messy and almost like a dead game, so getting a cohesive story i think will be great for new players like me
if they remove paid subscription then they would have a wow game that would be completely alive and best mmo hands down
excited for the cross-realm guilds, ever since all my friends stopped playing I've felt like there is no reason to play anymore. but this makes me think maybe I'll be able to create new friends between realms!
Me too, especially when you take several breaks and each time return to a dead server. I refuse to pay for transfers anymore.
They learned delves from Elden Ring. People enjoyed searching Elden Ring for its secrets and treasures.
something i really like about asmon is he listens to what some random commenters think, i remember suggesting he get the volume balancer that hasan uses, boom, probably reached out to hasan and asked what it was. makes it a lot better as I and many other people dont use headphones so makes it hard to hear if its not balanced correctly, thanks !
Warbands big W. That alone makes me want to play the game alot more.
20 years for an account wide bank and WoW players lose their mind like its an innovative thing.
Ya'll retail players truly are battered at this point.
I got a little choked up when they announced warbands yesterday lmao, all these years suffering through the rep and currency grinds on multiple characters killed my soul little by little and now, finally the nightmare is over.
You could have just stopped playing
@@BelchingBeaver69 i did
@gay4pay882 maybe he enjoys the game even If some shit sucks
You really got choked up dude?
@@defaultname7685 people love wow man some people are more passionate then others
All this is a year plus away. Past has taught me most of this will be cut. DOnt get to hyped until it is actually in the game.
Holy shit they are actually listening to feedback and what people want.
Im happy and salty at the same time. Great changes to account wide stuff but holy fuck why did it take them 20 years to figure this shit out.
Not a single fail during this panel . Amazing
So after these three expansions we'll be back to level 100 again? When is the next stat squish?
This will go like usual, initial hype, OMG we back, huge W, and then, when things settle, same shit like every time, WoW player are that naive.
i kinda see the hero specs being like the elite specializations in gw2. that would be cool if they delivered a unique play style like in gw2. like a ranged death night or a melee priest? im really hoping for a massive w for the hero specs brining some fresh relief for the game!
Tbh this is the one presentation that has made me want to return to Retail. I’m so excited ❤❤
honestly by the sound of it they are taking the best things from many of the best mmos and bringing it to wow and improving on it. honestly many of the warband things is amazing especially reputation and achievements. im very excited for the class changes gives more way for builds. honestly past many years builds have been stuck towards same builds with no exploring of builds which bores me. cross realm guilds will be amazing for raiding content.
We want ffin dungeons with interesting items. Not stat tokens.
I want to get items out of dungeons and not the weekly chest
''The War Within'' refers to Blizzard the past decade, and now breathing some fresh air.
Actual good changes. I can't wait to play this 3 days after EVERYONE ELSE.
If you care that much, buy it
Or just pay the money, i did.
@@t9t9t9t9t9 Ah yes, because that's how you show discontent for shitty business models, by rewarding them.
Cant wait to play this 3 days before all the people whining about a business making money
bruh its $5 more..... and they can't do anything that you can't, end game is locked
So that warglaive I made with my warrior blacksmith will now be able to be picked up by my dh? And how many characters in a warband? 4?
Really nice ideas. Guess I'll check out the next expansion ;)
Nice to see Ion on his redemption arc. :D
We are almost at the honeymoon phase again...cant wait to hear how horrible this all is a month after release.
22:35 - “They’re doing it! They’re stealing! YES!!” LMAOO
Dang, some of yall cant be pleased, if you hate the game that much, just move on, its not that hard
I'm happy to see the Delves and I like the sound of them. I feel that the open world is WoW's greatest strength and yet the endgame drives players to spend the vast majority of their time in instanced content.
I look forward to seeing what they've done with Frostfire, that was my favorite mage spec of all time in Wrath and they nixed it in Cata.
They nixed it in MoP. You can still run FF bolt in Cata.
@@Beraninpretty sure mop still have ffbolt. I'd have to double-check but I think legion removed it
@@Beranin Bolt - but not spec. Cata is when they implemented forced-specs, whereby you couldn't plot your talent points however you wanted, you had to choose a tree and couldn't spec out of it aside from very few points.
Lol, Ion speech and change was so drastic and fast, the change between how he acted on this Blizzcon and all the past interviews + annoncements was so noticable... It was just after the announcement of Metzen come back; It is SO obvious and I am REALLY sure that Metzen gave him advices and classes of how to be more simple and speak with correct tone of voice to catch people attention.
So I haven't played since Jaina Mythic in BFA... now this has my interest, let's hope the implementation is done properly and they don't screw things up 'till release.
Dude. There are SO many good changes. Changes we have wanted for years, and good new innovative ones. For once, I truly am hyped for the new xpac. I hope they continue this trend. We will ultimately see on launch
They are literally adding features to the game that f2p MMO's have and adding a $90 pricetag lmao
Find me a f2p mmo as massive as WoW.
I got the legendary bow on my mage in the Burning Crusade raid - if its still in the bank i can finally collect appearance on it through the bank, hopefully ;w;
