In football, we are consistently reminded that great players on the pitch don't make great human beings or great coaches. The problem is that success on the court and or a football field can be a sportsman's biggest weakness off the court/pitch. This being as all the glorification, admiration, and demigod creation can have a person like Djokovic almost begin to think they are special. The same happens with power-grabbing politicians turned dictators. Just because you a good tennis player, it doesn't mean you're a good businessman or humanitarian. This act on the part of Djokovic highlighted his own sense of uncontrolled self-importance, even if the whole world and medical community disagreed. These people begin to live in a reality that is far detached from normal reality. Through the power of money, they almost accidentally end up with yes men dealing with all aspects of their lives. So naturally, when an idea comes out of their mouths, the people around them almost encourage them to go through with whatever crazy idea they have. The players who joined this tournament were also there through greed. Many of them becoming millionaires at a young age, with little to no understanding of life, toil, struggles, and suffering. That's why I'm always very careful when lauding sports stars. Unfortunately a day always comes when they think they're more clever, more gifted and more able that they actually ever are.

People need to stop hating on old Djokovic. He is a good person at heart, like everyone else he has a hard time showing it. I think he deserves more credit then people give him. This is coming from a Nadal fan.
As a Djokovic supporter, I don’t condone the organisation of this tour. However I think its ridiculous to call him the human embodiment of this tour. Yes it was his idea, but that had to be approved by others especially the Serbian government ( keep in mind this was at the end of may and that’s when most European countries started to ease restrictions, especially in Serbia where the cases were quite low). There were participants (some of your favourite tennis players), an audience, collaborators and just lots of people involved. I find it wrong that people solely find Novak to blame because they’re on a chase to find reasons to vilify him. This was a great video btw, just my opinion on the situation.

@@CULTTENNIS Not his thing to judge to be honest. He ain't health minister or something. When it comes down to pandemic, he is just a regular guy who acts on what government allows/forbids. Uncle Toni said it best.

Government allowed it and did not put any limits. This was basicly his government saying "everything is alright here, do what you want". Bottom line. This was more than anything failure of Serbian government. They are the ones who should protect people in a time like that by not letting things like that to happend. It is not a job of a tennis player.
@@HBK492 Everybody with common sense knew this was a bad idea. There were international players attending. They were at fault, too. If the government would have said covid doesn't exist would you and Novak also believe it? Thats just a bad excuse and you know it. And if the apologie was just an public stunt, with all the players infected, one has to doubt Novaks state of mind...
First of all, Novak isn't condescending, that's more of a Serena thing. Even Federer can be like that at times but that's normal on that level. I'm not saying its alright. Second, Novak is super-passionate and emotional, not robotic. Third, Novak never faked an injury in his life. That claim is outrageous and untrue. Fourth, he isn't an anti-vaxxer, just wants to choose which ones he takes based on how safe the newest vaccines are which is perfectly rational. He even stated in that google talk with other Serbian athletes that vaccines in general are an important discovery. You didn't even have the right translation of that conversation. Fifth and final, Dimitrov throwing everyone under the bus as soon as he lost in the Adria Tour was the most rotten, selfish thing we've seen in a long time in any sport. He was the first to arrive in Belgrade, had the most fun, got everything for free like all the other players/guests, then went back home and took selfie with a "oops, got corona, peace," pose knowing full well what was going to happen afterwards. Its hilarious but a real trashy way to ruin a humanitarian event where all the money was donated. The world would be a much better place without all the fake news and journalist vultures like Ben Rothenberg and the gang. What's even more pathetic is the virtue signaling of the masses, who are nailed to their tvs and the lamestream media like couch potatoes, playing the blame game pretending they care about every single person they saw on that event and thinking that Nick the "on-court hot dog masturbator" Kyrgios is the voice of reason.
it was idiotic 😂😂 whataboutism comparing him to entire countries is ridiculous - plus, he is an adult after all and should certainly be more aware of the importance of avoiding widespread physical contact.
This is not completely a Djokovic's fault, the Serbian government during the times of Adria Tour have been lying about the corona virus victims and the number of people that got the virus for like 2-3 weeks, bcs at that time the new voting for next government is coming up at that time, and after some time, ppl in Serbia made a big protests, obviously, Novak should took a part of the blame, but not full blame, he should know better, and he should follow at least some protocols
I’m 100% with Kyrgios in this scenario. As controversial as he is, he’s totally correct here. Plus, what Novak did is idiotic, along with Zverev and all the other players who attended (Troicki etc.) It was Djokovic organising though, so he should really take most of the blame. There’s no excuse - what he did was plain stupid.
This tournament should’ve been great, inspiring kids, playing in both Serbia and Croatia, good tennis, involving kids. But what a shambles, why couldn’t they wait a year or two
He is on his way to cement the greatest of all time, there is a very high possibility for that, and then this all will be completely unimportant trivia. I hope for 22GS titles and the most weeks as no1 ever.
Whether or not you think he is controversial makes no difference on whether he is controversial or not. He is controversial EXACTLY BECAUSE people have different opinions. So you saying he is not controversial is not evidence that he is not. LOL. : )
@@dejanmarkov14 Caught? Like he sneaked out for some party time with his buddies and a side chick and got caught kehehe. Imagine if he was smoking cigars and drinking alcohol? Ooooh, then he would be the real bad boy of tennis kehehe.
Everyone is blaming Novak but it's not fully his fault. The Serbian government really did allow so many stupid things in June. It was all done because the elections that happened at the end of the month. First they allowed around 20 thousand fans in the Belgrade derby. The stadiums were full with no distance. My friend and i were volunteering and we had to constantly wear masks( unless on a break) and we were sometimes in the groups that were ordered to give out masks to people who didn't have masks of their own. At the time Serbia was acting like it was covid free and everyone was acting like it. As i already said, it's mostly the governments fault (they are just a whole different story) but it's also Novak's fault. I don't know how it was after Belgrade, but here it was beautiful and very well organised.
Look, Novak did promote and in part org the tour but the GOVERNMENTS of SERBIA and CROATIA wanted and approved it for their own reasons, Serbia because of elections and declaring victory over covid, Croatia was trying to save its tourism season. Djoković tried to do some good for others and the sport and got only the blame, just like now in AUS Open with asking for better conditions for other players. Y'all love to hate him for taking a shite on your Federer - Nadal romance while the rest of us love him for that among other things. And Kyrgios can keep counting his weeks being no.1 saltiest athlete.
This video doesn't deserve to be called a 'history', it's more of a summary of the things we saw in the news. Three important things that the video didn't mention: 1. There are decade-long tensions in the Balkan countries that are even now often stressed by the local politicians. Novak wanted to promote peace and collaboration in the region through a sports event. This good intention is invisible to the outsiders, but for the locals, it is huge. 2. There were elections scheduled in both Serbia and Croatia at the time, which is why the governments tried to create an illusion that everything is fine and that the pandemic is under control. Serbian government even reported fake data on COVID cases. It is really their responsibility for signing off on Adria tour, while sadly Novak got all the backlash. 3. Lower ranked tennis players earn much less than the top ones, and many of them needed to quit tennis at this time because all tournaments were canceled. This event was also meant to help them and help charities. Finally, it is in the tradition of the Balkans' people to go above and beyond when it comes to hosting guests and making sure they are having a good time, hence the warm welcomes, other matches and parties. This is never mentioned when speaking of Adria tour.
1. a noble goal does not erase the fact that this event should not have taken place at all in the first place. He could've made that event happen in any other time... 2. Im not well enough informed on that matter but you can't put blame on a country for a private event. Also, it does not apply to all players that came from different countries with their own regulation. In my opinion, all players that actively promoted and went there are responsible. 3.That's not a valid excuse at all sorry.
@@christophedesormeaux5519 How can you not put the blame on the country? Governments are literally people who analyze data and decide what can and what can't be done in the current sytuation. Government could simply forbid to organize event.

All these salty djoker fans in the comments who don’t believe science is real lmao. Great video man, keep up the good work.
Thank you, will do!
Wtf
@Joe Publico doubt it; given the democrats are criminals and irresponsible, djokovic has the personality type to have an affinity for those types
@@dand2810 Hah seems to me that someone else is salty
Ive been watching this channel for 2 hours and just now realized I dont care about tennis. Great vids tho
The way he pronounced Zadar 😂😂😂😂
This didn’t age well.
You’re awesome!
Bro if the world ended, djokavic would arise as one of the boss you’d need to defeat to get back peace again 🤯
He did on a small scale what many whole countries have been doing on a large scale. Not smart either way, but sometimes a bit of perspective helps.
it was idiotic 😂😂 whataboutism comparing him to entire countries is ridiculous - plus, he is an adult after all and should certainly be more aware of the importance of avoiding widespread physical contact.
This is not completely a Djokovic's fault, the Serbian government during the times of Adria Tour have been lying about the corona virus victims and the number of people that got the virus for like 2-3 weeks, bcs at that time the new voting for next government is coming up at that time, and after some time, ppl in Serbia made a big protests, obviously, Novak should took a part of the blame, but not full blame, he should know better, and he should follow at least some protocols
yea but still he just shouldn’t have been so stupid lmaoo
curious to know your thoughts on kyrgios and benoit paire. and also if you are a fan of theirs or no
Maybe the only time i 100% sided with kyrgios
Please do a video on his deportation drama
I’m 100% with Kyrgios in this scenario. As controversial as he is, he’s totally correct here. Plus, what Novak did is idiotic, along with Zverev and all the other players who attended (Troicki etc.) It was Djokovic organising though, so he should really take most of the blame. There’s no excuse - what he did was plain stupid.
big whoop, now we're still in it and the sports are back
How many subscribers do you have... anyway keep on creating good contents
3:05 I've never routed for Roger over Novak, never have and never will, no1e! Rafa and Novak are the best!
Awesome content, I have been binging them. Also do you have any idea about the association Novak has formed?
2:58 why do you think that is true?
may i know name of the song at ~ 1:40 ? i doubt anyone is going to see this after like 2 years but well, gotta belive eh?
In 2023, after everything that’s happened, Novak doesn’t seem like a douche anymore. Sometimes trust your gut instincts.
Not really. He will always be remembered as a controversial athlete.
@@peterbedford449 opinios differ : )
Whether or not you think he is controversial makes no difference on whether he is controversial or not. He is controversial EXACTLY BECAUSE people have different opinions. So you saying he is not controversial is not evidence that he is not. LOL. : )

Btw, are you from Bedford? Very cute, interesting town, always wanted to visit it.

Considering the fact that he recorded a vlog about "irresponsibility" of others while driving a car, I would beg to differ
Oh...what's sane about NK?!
I call that utter bulls**t.
Yeah except he was caught partying after that, so no, he's still a dumbass

Being a good player doesn't always gets you respect.
THIS is why I don't want him to win the US Open on Sunday. Hopefully Medvedev can take him out.
Yes
Alex Jones was right... again
Three important things that the video didn't mention:
@@christophedesormeaux5519 so what if people got Corona? Its their own responsibility! No one pushes you to gather if you don’t want.
This is history, anything that happened yesterday was.
@@Zentivated yes I agree. However, it is still the organizers fault for promoting and organizing an unsafe event such as this.
@@christophedesormeaux5519 How can you not put the blame on the country? Governments are literally people who analyze data and decide what can and what can't be done in the current sytuation. Government could simply forbid to organize event.
