An Introduction to Barnaby Smith's 'BACH' | VOCES8 Records

Barnaby Smith's releases his second studio album on 24 February 2023. The album, 'BACH', reflects the annual cycle of the church year. Featuring two iconic solo cantatas, Ich habe genug, BWV 82 and Vergnügte Ruh, BWV 170, the recital is interwoven with arias from Bach’s great oratorios.
The album also sees the return of the Illyria Consort and features a duet with fellow ‪@VOCES8‬ alto, Katie Jeffries-Harris.

Beautiful performances, though I’m not sure why there are keyboards in the ensemble when one can’t hear them! Maybe just keep the strings and woodwind?

Get a clue. The keyboard is part of the _basso continuo._ The left hand doubles the bass line, the right hand improvises a chordal accompaniment. You probably don't even know what _basso continuo_ means.
