Other Links are random boys who happen to wear the same name/clothes either because of a reference... or a coincidence. So, in short, Zeldas are biological reincaranations, Links are random reincarnations, and Ganondorf/Ganon is an immortal being. And because the games are so spaced, nobody notices the pattern. Two exceptions : A) Link in Majora's Mask is the same as Ocarina of Time, no questions asked it's canon and a direct sequel. (Other sequels like Link Between Worlds usually happens 1 or 2 generations later) B) In Twilight Princess, the White Wolf/Hero's Spirit is a fighter who teaches moves to Link. It's not stated in game, but he was the Link from Majora's Mask. Oh and while we're on it : Linkle is NOT one of Link's reincarnations. She (wrongly) believes she is one and acts as such.
Maybe the little girl is linkle because there were original plans for her in botw but she was cut cuz it would have been too confusing Perhaps link and linkle are brother and sister Will we ever see her in a mainline game who knows
Pretty sure in A Link to the Past, one of the maidens mentions that Link is the last descendant of the Knights of Hyrule. It's the maiden in the Thieves' Town crystal.
I like to imagine when Link has a child, the child is himself. This continues until 100 years or so until a Link is born with powers, his father, Link then holds Link up above his head and celebrates with a "HYAAAH!"

The most interesting question to me in regards to this topic is who skyward sword link’s parents are. It’s kind of strange that we hear stories of when link and Zelda were children but never hear about link’s parents. Presumably they had to have been from skyloft as well since that’s literally the only place hylians have survived before everyone returns to the surface. Did they die? Why don’t any of the other skyloft villagers ever mention them? They all know each other and seem fairly close, seems kind of weird to not mention the death of two people on an island where presumably people don’t really die that often. Or did link just appear out of nowhere? That seems even weirder, and feels like something they would talk about even more. Although, I suppose they also don’t talk about zelda’s mom all that much either. So maybe it isn’t all that uncommon for people to die on skyloft. Maybe they got injured at night when more dangerous enemies spawn. Or maybe they fell off. Or got sick. Who knows
My headcanon is that there are actually other sky islands off the map, which are home to all the Skyruleans who should exist but don't show up on Skyloft--Zelda's mother, the parents of the knights in training, etc. Skyloft is like the downtown and campus area of a larger network of island neighborhoods.
@@jonahdunch4056 Yeah thats also what I think. I am not even sure whether that might even be official or not because in SS they tell you the Lumpy Pumpkin (or what ever the bar is called) is for traveling bird riders. WHERE do these riders travel if there are no other islands?
it very very unknown whom link parents really is, it's probably best assumed that link's father is a hylian knight and link's mother is a normal hylian mother - from generations to generations.

Fun fact: "Four Swords" Manga actually has plot elements, not from Four Swords, but from Four Swords Adventure. And about the Legend of Zelda NES comic you mentioned, it's OK for a character to fall in love with a half sibling. This was even allowed back then, like Abraham and Sarah from the Bible, Abraham refers Sarah as his father's child, but not his mother's child.
That was several thousands of years ago though, and there were reasons for it. Nowadays, it's a little weird to purposefully write that sort of romance
Link was voiced by the guy who voiced Marth in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Hikaru Midorikawa you may recognize him as the voice of Allan & Fiore from the Japanese dub of Sailor Moon & the voice of Tamahome in the Fushigi Yuugi Japanese dub of the anime.
Ooh, I remember somebody covering a manga that was essentially the prequel to Ocarina of Time, showing Link's dad, I think either it was SwankyBox or Brian David Gilbert. In any case, it"s awesome seeing you cover this, Thomas, and major congrats on 400k! 💖🥳💖
I guess this one would count too, that being link's Grandmother from Wind Waker. Even though we don't get to learn about his parents in that game, or if any comics released around that game, we do get a bit of information that Link was born on Outset Island. So, his parents must of either died, or sailed away from the island and left Link's grandma to take care of him and his younger sister, Aryll.
Thomas, you forgot about Link from Twilight Princess which you can tell just by following the timeline that his parents are actually Link from Ocarina of Time and Malon from Lon Lon Ranch. Nintendo is not subtle about this either as it is referenced many times in the series.
Today is my last day of finals and I had a horrible time trying to sleep and I was bingeing your videos to help and it resulted in me having an honest to god Thomas Game Docs fever dream lol
While Link and Zelda are their “own” people in each life -In a way, it would never be weird for them to end up together because they’re reincarnations of the same person every time. That’d be like saying it’s weird for Meliodas and Elizabeth (Seven deadly sins) is weird just because she has to grow up during each reincarnation while Meliodas never does. Granted without their memories of their past lives it would make sense that each Zelda/Link would feel different as they play out the current situation and timeline.
@@Quinn-kr2cp I don't remember that. But it kiiiiinda makes sense, if calamity ganon is still a gerudo he's still technically alive. Although I don't think the previous male gerudo has to die for the new one to be born. So idk anything really 😆

My biggest question is where is Marin? Did she want to be a seagull "forever"? Did she want to see link again and just never found him? Why is there no legend of a singing seagull in any of the other games to prove the "real" ending is not just the one where she dies with the rest of the dreams. And isn't the concept that Marin got her wish to be a seagull imply the dreams were (in some abstract context) alive? So are you saying the people on the island were alive or that all dreams live like this? Making the ending less "waking up from a nap" and more "racism fueled geocide".
Don’t they imply that none of the citizens of Koholint are actually real? I always looked at the seagull with Marin in the sky as Link seeing some random-ass seagull and remembering Marin, like symbolism or something

1 thing I would like to know is how Wind Waker's Link & Aryll are related to their granny. Is she a Paternal or Maternal Grandmother? Also, in Twillight Princess we know that Link lives by himself in a small village, so wouldn't that make at least 1 or 2 of his neighbours relatives? And why is there no mention of any parents there?
This was interesting, I haven't thought about his parents too much but in Breath of the Wild I saw the part saying his dad might've been a knight, so it did get me wondering. Pretty interesting to see some ideas of what his parents might've looked like.
hes had an uncle, a grandmother and sister, and a grandfather he also had a roommate, and a father figure (i think) i feel like im forgetting something
AWESOME VIDEO! And since Link in Ocarina Of Time and Majora's mask is dead in Twilight Princess as he is the hero's shade. He should be reunited with his parents.
I want BotW Link to have that picture of his father and sister be canon. I think it'd be cool for Link to meet his relatives, children, or grandchildren of his sister. I like when the game explores Link. Because although he is a vessel for us, he it's also cool for him to stand out on his own too.
In A Link to the Past he lives with his uncle and in the noncanon Manga Link's father was a knight of Hyrule who was killed by Aghanim. In the noncanon Ocarina of Time Comic Link's father was a knight of hyrule that was killed by rioters while defending King Hyrule. Link's mother than took her infant son to the lost woods and handed him to the Kokiri to raise him, then turned into a tree sprout. In The Minish cap Link's parents are unknown though the lives with his grandpa who is a smith. In Winwaker he lives together with his sister. In Breath of the Wild he comes from a long line of knights and became one just like his father.
Don’t worry, in the cancelled Zelda threequel that would’ve followed The Adventure of Link, the old man in the cave would’ve appeared to Link as a ghost and not only revealed that Zelda was his half-sister, but that Ganon was his father. The game would’ve then followed Link’s journey to redeem Ganon and restore peace to the galax- I mean, the kingdom
It is interesting that most of the time, his backstory includes parents who were Knights. It would certainly give incentive to train in the sword himself. And then there is...the fate of turning into a tree. Or being stuck in the dark world. Arn had me scratching my head though. Sure an imposter is at work, but just to skip straight to punching? That is some reaction :D Now I want to read some of those manga collections.
This is totally giving me a twist on a star wars tale. Like Luke and Leia... Also the comic kind of confirms that when link is in the wolf time frame (midna) he was a wolf as those would be dire consequences, and in wolf form he forgot what he was actually searching for, because this maybe comes right after Majora's mask. That's when we move past the Gameboy Links (technically four games, can't remember the names...) To continue the story to the 2nd beginning (wind waker) I still think that Ganon (Aganenom, or Rune) is his father. As he, Link, keeps needing to be hidden and protected.
I just want to put a PSA out there. The only canon mentions of Link's parents are in the games. None of the comics or manga or cartoons (or CDI games) are canon.
tgd, do u remember that mario scam game? They made a bunch of sequels! One sequel, than another sequel based on mario run, and another sequel based on new super mario bros, 3D graphics and everything

3) The ONLY game where they kiss is the first game in the timeline, so all Zeldas are also descendant of that specific Link.
Two exceptions :
A) Link in Majora's Mask is the same as Ocarina of Time, no questions asked it's canon and a direct sequel. (Other sequels like Link Between Worlds usually happens 1 or 2 generations later)
B) In Twilight Princess, the White Wolf/Hero's Spirit is a fighter who teaches moves to Link. It's not stated in game, but he was the Link from Majora's Mask.
Oh and while we're on it : Linkle is NOT one of Link's reincarnations. She (wrongly) believes she is one and acts as such.
I see Link as if he was a prophet, he's always an orphan
Maybe the little girl is linkle because there were original plans for her in botw but she was cut cuz it would have been too confusing
Perhaps link and linkle are brother and sister
Will we ever see her in a mainline game who knows
Maybe.... But mot just in person though but rather forgotten memories of his sister.
Perhaps they'll do dimensional travel and we'll see a different rule63 universe with Linkle
There's actually a game called "Legend of Zelda the wind waker", in that game there's a girl named Aryll which is Links sister.
Pretty sure in A Link to the Past, one of the maidens mentions that Link is the last descendant of the Knights of Hyrule. It's the maiden in the Thieves' Town crystal.
The Manga of four swords was amazing. I loved it when I first read it. Have to read it again
I like to imagine when Link has a child, the child is himself. This continues until 100 years or so until a Link is born with powers, his father, Link then holds Link up above his head and celebrates with a "HYAAAH!"
Good to see more love for both the Valiant Comics and Yuu Mishouzaki's Zelda I adaptation! I first learned of both thanks to Zelda Wiki, but a great friend of mine helped me learn even more about the Mishouzaki adaptations of Zelda I and II, and I am so obsessed with them!!! The same friend also made a fanslation of the Zelda II manga, which I enjoy just as much as the first one! I even have Link as he appeared in the second manga as my icon at the time of typing this!!!
Link's parents LET'S GOOOOOO!! 😍👀
What are the chances that you just did a similar video 😂
well... this is unfortunate
@@kidnamedfingor Why?
In another comment I mentioned that Thomas says around 6:20 Link is human and that maybe a question that Zeltik should answer. But maybe that's an idea for one of your videos too? Are Hylians humans?
That LTP comic is actually really good if anyone hasn’t read it. I’d highly recommend.
Actually it's a manga drawn by none other than Shotaro Ishinomori. Localizations did their magicks to make it a comic.
@@georgedash8293 Yeah I know that but like that’s just semantics so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ishinomori is one of my favorite mangaka (hot take I know) but most western people probably don’t know him so I thought I’d just use words that they’d know
@@d-rgk2477 I too like Ishinomori’s work. Cyborg 009 is one of my favorites and as far as T.V. shows go he made Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.
@@calebgoodman2076 I’ve heard good things about cyborg but I’ve never gotten around to reading it myself
I’ll have to check it out :)
At 14:34, the two kanji’s above their heads (in dark brown ink) mean kazoku, or family. This has more proof towards his family being there.
This is completely unrelated to the video itself (which was as great as always!) but I just wanted to thank you for adding captions to all of your videos! As someone who lives with an audio processing disorder it means a lot to be able to enjoy such great content- without having to stop every few seconds to think if what I heard, was a name of a character I didn't know about or just a common word. Keep up the good work! I always look forward to seeing just one more video of yours :D
Yes, that's so cool of him!
2:02 So, Link’s uncle is both of his parents’ brother? The implications are… unfortunate
It may be that he’s the brother-in-law to one of them
It’s probably easier to say than “my brother and my spouse’s brother-in-law” lol
Thank you for saying exactly what was on mine and my girlfriend's mind.
What in the everloving Jamie Lannister is going on?
@@xIncisions Does that mean Link is Joffrey then? 😨
@@rwiseart2269 yeah or they did some type of Alabama
Kass was referring to Link and Zelda themselves 100 years in the past.
Idk man, still sounds like incest to me
Link was voiced by the guy who voiced Marth in Super Smash Bros.
i don't think it was bdg, i feel like the swankybox theory is right
I guess this one would count too, that being link's Grandmother from Wind Waker. Even though we don't get to learn about his parents in that game, or if any comics released around that game, we do get a bit of information that Link was born on Outset Island. So, his parents must of either died, or sailed away from the island and left Link's grandma to take care of him and his younger sister, Aryll.
It's always a good day when Thomas uploads.
Thomas, you forgot about Link from Twilight Princess which you can tell just by following the timeline that his parents are actually Link from Ocarina of Time and Malon from Lon Lon Ranch. Nintendo is not subtle about this either as it is referenced many times in the series.
Not parents, more like great grandparents
Great video! I remember reading the Link to the Past comics in Nintendo Power Magazine!
LOREHTAAAAHHH! haha that's priceless. Imagine hearing that every time you save your game in Breath of the Wild.
Today is my last day of finals and I had a horrible time trying to sleep and I was bingeing your videos to help and it resulted in me having an honest to god Thomas Game Docs fever dream lol
When you explained the incest romance one, I immediately screamed out "God damn it, Japan!" on the top of my lungs.
@Jalalious Classic japanese manga trope: Incest romance
@Jalalious dude calm down it's just a drawing
@Jalalious I'm not justifying incest, and why are you censoring the word? lmao
@Jalalious talk about a snowflake
It’s not meant to be like that.
I love the artstyle of that link to the past comic
While Link and Zelda are their “own” people in each life -In a way, it would never be weird for them to end up together because they’re reincarnations of the same person every time. That’d be like saying it’s weird for Meliodas and Elizabeth (Seven deadly sins) is weird just because she has to grow up during each reincarnation while Meliodas never does.
Granted without their memories of their past lives it would make sense that each Zelda/Link would feel different as they play out the current situation and timeline.
Random thing:
There is a male born to the Gerardo every 100 years right? There should have been some mention of him somewhere in BOTW right?
Oh shoot you're right! Link was asleep for a 100 years, he should have met 2 of them!
It’s mentioned somewhere that the Gerudo haven’t had a male born to them since Ganon became the Calamity
@@Quinn-kr2cp I don't remember that. But it kiiiiinda makes sense, if calamity ganon is still a gerudo he's still technically alive. Although I don't think the previous male gerudo has to die for the new one to be born. So idk anything really 😆
@@NonisLuck Yeah it’s not mentioned in the game but it is in the Creating a Champion book
I just wanted to tell you that your videos are my favorite! You are doing a really great job :3
I love how deep this lore goes. Truly an amazing series 🤍
Hylians have pointed ears, longer lives and magic which makes them elven not humans. Link was based on Peter pan according to Shirgeru Miyamoto. Peter pan was based on elf Puck.
Last time I was this early, you still had like 1k subs lol. Man watching your channel explode has been a pleasure man
You, wendigoon, omni, and gamechamp5000, I found all of you before you guys even had 2k subs idk how
yoooo this voice actor bit was so amazing :D
Neat analysis video! Thanks for uploading!

🎶Was it real?

Who is "we" in that sentence ?
Who is "I" in that next one?
Your source of information is incredible, and thats why i love your channel keep it up. 😄
Every link has a different background and upbringing so technically you'd have to figure out all the links parents
However I can at least say ocarina of time/Majora's mask link are the same person and he was a orphan raised in the forest
Lol i recognized the Audio Drama at 4:16 from the CD Factory song by d- dynamic shroud, didn't know it was something zelda related. Pretty interesting.
Don’t suffer in silence
As always, love your channel!!!💛
A couple of days ago, Hyrule Gamer did a good video of Link's parents, but nothing really new; and I was like "I wish TGD does a video about Link's parents"!!
And you did!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Pretty interesting to see some ideas of what his parents might've looked like.
hes had an uncle, a grandmother and sister, and a grandfather
he also had a roommate, and a father figure (i think)
i feel like im forgetting something
AWESOME VIDEO! And since Link in Ocarina Of Time and Majora's mask is dead in Twilight Princess as he is the hero's shade. He should be reunited with his parents.
Perfect timing, just finished my exam. Thanks!
Roam would've been an awesome character if he were in ALTTP
You are so talanted men! Thank you for all the amazing videos.
another banger by thomas virtual video game documents 😩😩😩
HOW!? I just commented an hour ago on the bowser video to do a video about link!?
And 50 minutes later you post exactly what I asked 😳
The game would’ve then followed Link’s journey to redeem Ganon and restore peace to the galax- I mean, the kingdom
thank you for uploading 🖤
This channel is just fantastic. I watch every video over and over again and they somehow are always entertaining
That is some reaction :D
Now I want to read some of those manga collections.
Why are your videos so interesting? I love you
Oh thats where people got the tree house being links mother!
Impure motives!? Dude wanted to see his family. What's impure about that? Its not like he'd stop everything else. he needed to get over there anyway.
Lol that Link wishes his Uncle back with the Triforce but not his parents 😂
This is totally giving me a twist on a star wars tale. Like Luke and Leia... Also the comic kind of confirms that when link is in the wolf time frame (midna) he was a wolf as those would be dire consequences, and in wolf form he forgot what he was actually searching for, because this maybe comes right after Majora's mask. That's when we move past the Gameboy Links (technically four games, can't remember the names...) To continue the story to the 2nd beginning (wind waker) I still think that Ganon (Aganenom, or Rune) is his father. As he, Link, keeps needing to be hidden and protected.
thank you for going through this stuff
Well I always knew that link has a complicated backstory and I didn’t know about all of this
Can't forget about his grandmother and little sister "aryll" from wind waker, but that's more so just about his family then his actual parents 😅
Man this was such a cool video!
I like how Wind Waker has his grandmother and his sister but not parents. Maybe that's where the sister from BotW got inspiration from.
The BOTW father looks a lot like the big pirate from Tetra's crew in WW
I choose to believe that Link’s dad’s name is Lonk
"link, link, we're here with our brother" Our? 🤨
Raiding multiple sources and crossing their continuities to get 'answers' is a bit of stretch, but this was still a fun video.
Link's grandparents are clearly King Harkinian and Impa!
Wait, in A Link To The Past, didnt his uncle come back to life after defeating Ganon? Wonder why his parents didnt get resurrected as well
I think that was English release only that his uncle came back by saying that he didn’t die but passed out and later recovered.
@@JediLadyMisty Wonder why it was English only
@@JediLadyMisty at the end of the game his uncle is alive, presumably the triforce brought him back to life.
A lot of content cut from Botw 1 is supposed to be in BOTW2. Maybe, we'll see his parents.
