“Lean on Me” In 1985 I lived in NJ, and I could save 20 minutes of commute time by driving through Paterson. One evening my car broke down in Paterson, and not even the police would stop to help me. They would just drive by every one in a while to make sure I was still alive. (I was eventually helped by a Good Samaritan.) That a principal could turn around a school in such a scary place is inspiring to me.
I love hidden figures !!
Remember the Titans is such a great movie along with Coach Carter, Freedom Writers and Soul Surfer. Highly recommend watching them
My absolute favorites have to be: Glory, Apollo 13, Lion, A Beautiful Mind, and Wild.
Hacksaw Ridge had me crying, but also cheering for Doss. Hidden Figures was a beautiful well-told story about women at NASA 🚀. Remember The Titans is one of my favorite sports films reflecting the 1960s-1970s. 42 was one of Chadwick Boseman’s best films: loved his portrayal of Jackie Robinson. Soul Surfer hit hard for me while watching it, and I almost teared up. Lone Survivor was a hard, but great watch. The Miracle Season had me cheering for the volleyball team despite the opposition.
I love that within 4 mins, you have 2 Morgan Freeman movies hitting hard
I'd love for a biography on Walt Disney; "Walt Before Mickey" focused on his younger years, and "Saving Mr. Banks" was about Mary Poppins. Or just a biography focusing on Disney's renaissance era (I'd also like one on their revival era, but I doubt all their secrets are public access yet).
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is an excellent movie. It’s a biopic about Jean Dominique Bauby, who was the editor in chief of Elle magazine before a massive stroke left him completely paralyzed for the rest of his life. Despite his circumstances, he learned to communicate again through blinking and became a best selling author in several European countries before he died. The movie takes its title from the book that he wrote.
Miracles from Heaven is such an amazing story and movie.
True spirit, following your dreams no matter what happens or what people think or say!
Hacksaw Ridge is my favorite war movie. 3 other movies that should b listed r The Blind Side: a story of how a homeless black teenage boy, is adopted by a loving open-hearted white family, and helps shape him into professional football player. Heaven is for Real: a little boy has a near death experience. Vistis heaven and meets Jeaus. Including his great grandfather, who died an old man before the boy was born, but is young again. Quote "Nobody's old in Heaven, and nobdoy wears glasses"; even his eldest sister from a miscarriage. And Mircales from Heaven: I sickly girl visits Heaven and talks to God himself. It even show of how selfless acts from strangers can b miracles too.
Hacksaw Ridge is amazing and one of my favorites too.
Togo was also base on a true story
I've only seen half of these movies so my goal now is to see the rest before I decide. It's great to see 1 of my favorite actors in a few of the 20.
Those three women knew more about math than I will ever learn, they were geniuses!
I love A Beautiful Mind ❤
This list has my favorite war film (Glory) and favorite biopic (A Beautiful Mind). Woot!
One movie based on a true story that’s inspiring to me is Temple Grandin. It’s such a beautiful and well made biopic staring Claire Danes as Temple Grandin who’s an advocate for people with autism
I love Hidden Figures
I’m so annoyed that you didn’t include the movie “Something the Lord Made which is a biographical film about Alfred Blalock (played by Alan Rickman) and Viven Thomas (played by Mos Def) who worked together to help find a solution to infant heart disease. It is such a powerful and underrated film that talks not only about the medical world but shows the racism and sexism of the medical field in the 1930’s.
Happy friday afternoon, Rebecca, take care and God bless you, greetings from Colombia to you as well
Lord please help me get me one more spoken by a true hero who fought not with a weapon instead his bravery. While the world was set on destroying itself he chose to try to save its by helping with love not hate.
The movie champions at least deserved an honourable mention another underdog (special needs) story very heartwarming.
I'm surprised that "To Sir, With Love" 1967 wasn't on the list.
I would have liked to see "The Insider" at least in the honorable mentions.
I actually watched hidden figures in my astronomy class
Where’s Into the Wild?
RBG, RBG, RBG!
Stand and Deliver and LaBamba
What about Stand and deliver?
Zero Dark Thirty? The Other Side of Heaven?
I’m disappointed that 127 Hours isn’t on here
the more this list advances, the more upset I am with the order it's in. How could you put 'Rudy' higher than 'Hidden Figures' (just to name one)??
But, the choices for most of them are good.
The Greatest Showman
Bob Marley One Love
The Theory of Everything
Catch me if you can
Welcome to Marwen
1917 was good^^
Please tell me "Titanic" is #1 because it's the 27 Anniversary!
Nope, Schindler's List is #1. Titanic isn't even on the list.
There is nothing inspiring about 'Titanic'.
@@dimidrugg9592I feel that Titanic is very inspiring how some people banned together to survive. The women pulled together the suggestions that was made to transfer people from unfilled lifeboats in order to go back and save others really happened even under scrutiny.
What happened to Lean On Me or Cool Runnings
My top favorites from this list (in order): Hacksaw Ridge, The Imitation Game, Invictus, Erin Brockovich, Eddie the Eagle. 🩷🩷
