Here in Brazil, this fiat is popularly called fiat 147, with a 1300 cc and 60 hp engine called fiasa manufactured in Brazil from 1976 to 2001. It was designed by Aurelio Lampredi (1917-1989) especially for the national 147, being a engine considered modern at the time of its launch. Aurelio Lampredi was an engineer who had been working designing engines for the Italian Fiat since the 1960s. He also has in his curriculum the design of Ferrari engines in the 1950s. When Fiat decided to settle in Brazil to produce the 147, he summoned Lampredi to develop the engine to be used here. The 147, which was released in Brazil in September 1976, was based on the 127, which appeared in 1971 in Italy. In Italy it used a 903 cm³ 4-cylinder engine, of old design, with three-bearing crankshaft and lateral valve timing, which developed 47 hp (net power, as all in this text) at 6,200 rpm and torque (idem) of 6.4 m·kgf at 3,500 rpm. There are those who guarantee that this engine is basically the same as the ASA 1000 GT, from 1962. ASA (Autocostruzioni Societá per Azioni) bought the design of an affordable small Ferrari that Enzo Ferrari intended to produce, but the commander gave up. It was a 1,032-cm³ double camshaft engine that developed 96.5 hp at 7,000 rpm. Therefore, the 147 would have the "heart" of Ferrari. Enzo Ferrari was so fond of the "Ferrarina" (short for Ferrari, as the international press called it) that he used it for about a year. The Brazilian version of the car was a re-styling of the 127, which would also be launched in Italy in 1977, but keeping the Italian name of 127. The engine designed by Lampredi was a 4-cylinder 1,049 cm³, with camshaft in the head. by timing belt. The shoulders acted directly on inverted cup tappets, with inserts to adjust the clearance. It had a diameter of 76 mm and a stroke of 57.8 mm. By choosing connecting rods 130 mm long, Lampredi, who had already worked for Ferrari, showed that he was not very well intentioned: With an r/l ratio of just 0.22, the engine was born without fear of turning high..
Fiasa engine also developed in 994cc, 1116cc for Europe, 1297cc, 1301cc for Europe, 1498cc in Prêmio/Duna models, Uno CS, Fiorino, Elba, all cars made in Brazil/Argentina...

Love this video! A proper way to start a car after an over a decade of sitting. Oil changed and everything. Too many videos they just put a new battery in and try to crank it forever. Lovely 127, hope you will put it back on the road.
I agree, care and fresh fluids. I'm about to get a car running after sitting for 30 years, helps that it's been in a dry garage but still going to change the oil and sparkplugs to give it the best chance at running.
My Dad had one of these same colour as well. What I remember most was the massive gear stick it was huge, and sometimes sticking and not going into reverse gear. Other than that it was a great little runner, and never gave engine trouble at all.
I had one like that. The gear linkage bushes used to wear out and cause excess play in the gear stick. It got so bad the gearstick was touching the side of the seat when trying to select reverse. I repaired it by making bushes out of tin cans. They usually lasted about 3 months before needing to be done again. Excellent car for their time.
