    Love the release. I'm sure you are going to really LOVE the "On Stage February 1973" release. The sound is phenomenal.

    Hi Jamie and John I purchased this release last month and the presentation and sound quality is excellent. I think the midnight show is the stronger of the two shows. The reason I say the midnight show is the strongest is because of the beautiful version of I’m leavin’ and Bridge Over Troubled Waters sounds so haunting beautiful. Glen D Hardin’s piano solo on Big Hunk O’ Love sounds so vibrant and the best live version I’ve heard of this song. Great release from MRS.

    Thanks for sharing, I appreciate all the information. John I used to be a member of the TCB World blog. Someone on there shared photos his father took at a 1974 Elvis concert and FTD used them without asking as well..lol. Crazy

    Great set, as is all of the MRS releases! FTD could take some lessons from MRS.⚡️

      It really is! And yeah; as long as FTD include the original versions for historical reasons, I certainly wouldn't mind them doing a bit of this on their soundboards!

      Thats what i thinking when i think of MRS Production. Maybe the April , May 75 dull Mono Shows in Stereo would be great . Or the Amarillo March 77 or the June 24 77 Show .

    Hey guys, fascinating topic! Been reading about these MRS concert releases on the Elvis Info Network, positive reviews there as well. Would love to hear your take on more of these! I just ordered the 1969/70 "First Engagements" set, it will be my first of the stereo remixed concert releases. Do either of you guys have it?

    I haven't got anything to compare this to, as per what you are referring to, FTD, original soundboard, etc. so I don't know if this is better or worse than anything before. I saw a review of this set on another UA-cam channel and I was intrigued at the concept of Elvis doing a show dedicated to his mother for Mother's Day, so I bought it. I'm not disappointed in any way - I love the soundtracks, the booklet, the whole presentation.

      Hi, Gina! Very cool!! And yeah, the raw concert tape is incredibly flat. I'm honestly amazed that they were able to get this quality out of it!

    Who agrees with me that, compared to Elvis in Vegas and Tahoe in 1973, Elvis On Tour in 1973 (April, June/July) was a much better and happier performing Elvis ? Take the show in Portland in April of 1973, recorded nicely from the audience by super-fan Rick Rennie, for me his mentality on tour is night and day, so much more enthusiasm and focus.

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  2 місяці тому +1

      I can see that - I think that, after 1972, Elvis was getting tired of Vegas; probably because he wasn't doing the same level of musical experimentation there, anymore. Not to say he didn't do any, he certainly did, but he'd hit a plateau there, imo. And after August of 1974's opening didn't go to Elvis's liking, you can hear it even more.

    Do you guys think MRS will go as far as releasing outtakes and complete sessions like FTD? Or do you think that might cause a legal battle between them as it's "overstepping?"

  • @hawaiiusa6147
    @hawaiiusa6147 2 місяці тому +3

    Great video guys.
    I haven't made it a secret that I don't like Elvis' music being tampered with and stuff like the RPO and "Junkie XL" remixes leave me cold. However, I don't have an issue with soundboards being improved and given the stereo treatment. MRS has done a stellar job with their concert releases. It's almost like listening to these shows for the first time and instead of just studying them, I can actually sit down and enjoy the music, which is very difficult to do with a dry, dull, mono soundboard.

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  2 місяці тому

      Thank you so much! Generally, I'm in the same camp - I don't mind a well-constructed remix, but always prefer the originals. For soundboards, as long as we have the raw version, I'm definitely ok with using extracted stereo to get a more live-sounding result!

  • @FrankieLovesElvis

    These releases would be silent if not for FTD. 😊

    • @johnheath1868
      @johnheath1868 2 місяці тому +1

      I guess MRS should write a letter to FTD and thank him for treating the sound so haphazardly that the FTD releases could rather easily be made redundant, huh? 😅

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  2 місяці тому

      Yeah, we all have a lot to be thankful for on FTD!
      I wouldn't call the FTDs redundant, since I do like having a raw copy, which is true there... at least when the soundboards aren't edited. 🤮

    great release..Jamie..question..with the recent release of the Beatles song NOW AND THEN..,with AI recreating John Lennons vocal from a poor quality cassette tape..do you think its possible that Sony BMG would take for example the poor quality recording of ELVIS' live eversion of "YOU CAN HAVE HER"..and have AI recreate the vocal to studio quality..bring in JAMES BURTON,JERRY SCHEFF, GLENN D HARDIN,..and kapow!..a new recording...

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  2 місяці тому

      Hi, Thomas! I love the idea, but I don't think the technology is quite there yet for low-fidelity recordings. The way AI works is very.... let's just say "picky" 🤣

    I'm not a fan of digitally extracted stereo, I will say that. The Takin Tahoe Tonight FTD probably has some noise reduction that makes it sound even flatter. The 3 AM show is one I've always found interesting. As a performance it's so-so, but it's a good listen every once in a while.
    And man John, that's a shame that FTD got that without your permission....from a photo of your photo! FTD's artwork has gone downhill in recent years IMO. What was that one from 76 where his face looked all weird? lol.

    • @johnheath1868
      @johnheath1868 2 місяці тому +2

      I know what you mean, but if you get a chance search UA-cam for samples of this release compared to the FTD. It really is remarkable what MRS were able to do with this tape - night and day difference - and a lot of it is just the benefit of being able to properly balance and the instruments from the extracted stems. I think if any release can convert a skeptic on the benefits of AI extraction, this is the one.

    • @EAPSociety
      @EAPSociety  2 місяці тому +1

      I'm kind of a half-fan of extracted stereo, if that makes any sense. Not super up on using it for studio recordings, but to give soundboards a more live sound, I think that's ok - as long as we have an original version, as well, since the extraction usually leaves artifacts, and I like having a "raw reference" as well.

    • @Cpayne30
      @Cpayne30 2 місяці тому

      @@EAPSociety That was my point about Takin' Tahoe Tonight - I'd imagine that SBD is not raw on there. FTD had to use some heavy noise reduction back in those days - plenty of the soundboards have no hiss. So maybe a more raw version of TTT wouldn't be as dead sounding. As John said, the EQ on the lead vocal is still an issue though.
      I would not feel comfortable paying for any digitally extracted stuff - no matter it MRS or FTD did it. (Not knocking MRS, I know that's a hot button issue.) There's just too much that could go wrong with it.
      Also, I took another listen to the 5/12/73 midnight show yesterday. IMO, not a particularly great or memorable show. The 3AM show beats it by being so off-the-wall.
