      Can he explain this though.. so if every single sperm cell is its own mind from a “previous” life.. how does that work because say there are 4 billion men that contain sperm living today and imagine if they just ejaculated once.. each load of semen contain at least 80 million sperms. They have only been a total of about 117 billion people total to have ever lived on this planet. 80 million * 117 billion supersedes the number of minds that could have existed on this planet.. and that just off of one ejaculation. That has to mean some souls reincarnate from other planets

    Thank you for the clear explanation. One doesn't need to believe or deny cyclic existence. We can watch it moment to moment, day to day, year to year, life to life. In a real way, we're not being reborn but our consciousness is manifesting through the three bodies because of the pull of obscurations and afflictions. In truth, we don't actually go anywhere, but mind perceives this from a dual perspective.

    Following is a suggestion from the book titled Ztingar - regarding where we come from, why we are here, who we are and to where we go and come back from...
    “I’d like to finish today’s lesson by trying to answer any questions that you may have,” declares a crackly, squeaky voice--the vibrant patterns flicker in perfect unison with the words. “How about you, Miss McPigstyle? . . . You look like you’ve got a pile of questions to ask!”
    “Hehehe. . . Yes I do Mister Gang-Gang!” she answers. “How do we know if we have good or bad karma?”
    “We can get some idea simply by looking at the general state of our life at any given moment . . . such as whether or not we’re truly happy,” answers the voice of Mr Gang-Gang cheerfully. “But because all Life is constantly changing for the better, the worse, or somewhere in-between, it’s never really possible to be certain, is it? . . . However, just as I’ve already mentioned, there is a way to help us control our karma and even change it, which I’m very much looking forward to sharing with you in the next few days. Thank you Miss McPigstyle. Now, Mister Bullcow, I can see by the keen look of enthusiasm on your face that you also have a question or two.”
    “Yes I do!” he replies in a rather deep sounding voice, “How does this all fit in with what you mentioned the other day about the little babies? . . . I mean to say, what could they have possibly ever done to make any bad deeds or karma as you call it?”
    “Well to answer that truthfully for you Mister Bullcow,” Mr Gang-Gang replies enthusiastically, “firstly I need to inform you that I personally believe we’re all the same age, but are born at different intervals . . . In other words that our lives don’t start when we’re born . . . nor end when we die.”
    “I don’t believe I quite get what you mean!” answers Mr Bullcow. “How in the world have you managed to come to that conclusion?”
    “By observing things as they truly are,” explains Mr Gang-Gang confidently, “anybody can do it if they’re willing to open up their minds and take a good, honest look around. The truth is, most things that appear to start and end don’t really start and end at all . . . they just move in and out of being present! Let’s take all of the four seasons, or a day and a night for instance. They don’t ever actually come to a halt and stop in themselves. . . The land simply revolves in and out of them over and over again. . . So, when everything’s said and done, there’s only ever been one single day . . . one night . . . one winter . . . one spring . . . one summer and one autumn . . . and since this is the way of nature and we’re all part of nature’s way . . . then it makes perfect sense to me that our lives follow along the same path.”
    “Strike me pink!” cries a dominant sounding voice from a long way off in the distance. “I ain’t nevar even heard o’ such a thing . . . are ya sure about all o’ this matey?”
    “As sure as I can be,” replies Mr Gang-Gang. “And just as sure as I am that Life itself has no beginning or end. Not only that, I also believe our bodies are small replicas of the land we stand upon and our spirits are small copies of the Universal Life Force.”
    “Hehehehehehe . . . for goodness, sake!” a female voice gasps with an incredulous laugh.
    “I’m being very serious!” says Mr Gang-Gang insistently, “quite serious indeed! . . . And the reason I believe this is once again a result of my observations over the years. For example, we have several layers of skin just like the Earth’s crust . . . feathers and hairs that grow like grass and trees upon the Earth’s surface . . . veins and arteries beneath our skin that act like underground rivers and streams that run beneath the Earth’s surface . . . flesh like soil and bone like rock. A great percentage of the Earth is water and liquid just like our body . . . and beneath the ground is a substance called lava, which is hot and red like our blood. . . Now and then the ground splits open and out spurts lava in a similar way to how our body bleeds whenever our skin breaks, or we grow lumps that can sometimes build up pressure and erupt in a similar way to how volcanic fire mountains do. We can also experience little tremors on our skin and sometimes even shake and tremble like the ground does. Our body has limitations that prevent it from jumping forwards or backwards in time . . . the same limitations that determine how long it will keep functioning before it wears out . . . after which it returns to the ground. From there it becomes nourishment to support the food chain that’s needed to sustain new life. . . Did any of you know that the Earth never grows any larger in content no matter how many things continuously live and die on it?”
    “Bloody hell!” blurts out another voice. “No, no I didn’t know that at all mate! . . . That’s flamin’ amazin’, ain’t it?”
    “It IS amazing!” agrees Mr Gang-Gang excitedly. “And it’s all to do with Nature’s incredible process of recycling matter. A very similar situation also applies to our spirit . . . except there’s a big difference . . . and that’s because our spirit is a copy of the great, Universal Life Force and therefore doesn’t share the same limitations as our body. For example . . . even though we can’t take our body back to when it was a baby, we are able to remember certain things and sometimes re-experience them as if they were happening right now. As a matter of fact, our imagination knows no boundaries. We can even go to places, do things and experience events in our mind that our body would never be able to physically endure.”
    “How absolutely fascinating!” says the voice belonging to Miss McPigstyle. “Whoever would have thought all that?” “What happens when we die then?” asks someone else.
    “Generally speaking . . . after each successive physical manifestation is completed and our body can no longer function for us,” explains Mr Gang-Gang, “our spirit simply separates from it and reverts back into the surrounding universal Life Force from which it came. There it will remain re-energizing itself until it’s time to return and recreate its next physical manifestation. In some respects, our life force is a bit like the water in the Ballah, or as some prefer to call it . . . the ocean. In other words, it’s forever coming and going.”
    “I see.” says the deeper voice.
    “Because our karma content is recorded within our Life Force, it doesn’t disintegrate with the body, but rather carries over from one physical existence to the next one, constantly determining what our future circumstances are going to be each time. This includes where and when we are born, the family we’re born into, the conditions we have to live under, the opportunities we do or do not receive and so on and so forth. It also determines our health and how well we cope with things during our journey through each successive physical manifestation. No matter when it is or what, who or where we are, it’s everything we think, say and do that’s continually shaping and reshaping our own present and future destiny. In other words, for better or for worse, we are each in complete control and therefore totally responsible for it ourselves. And this is also why we must be cautious when making assumptions, or when information is relayed to us from others . . . particularly when it’s about someone else. If we believe it without first verifying that it’s actually correct and it turns out to be untrue, we would automatically be as guilty of making the bad karma as the one who gave us the wrong information in the first place. It doesn’t matter how much good we’ve done, one bad enough deed could have the potential to seriously damage or even completely contaminate our hard-earned good fortune in an instant. It’s a possible outcome that can very easily happen to us in a similar way to how a raging fire can damage or destroy even the most beautiful of forests.”

    I am British and it was when I was a kid when I started to think that I had been here before. I shall cut a long story short. For some reason, I had an attraction to Asia, especially India and what was then called Burma (Myanmar). I would have been in the British army, a soldier, who spent time in Burma and in what was then British India. I have since visited India and worked in S. E. Asia!

    I think consciousness is an on/off phenomena, like this: Imagine you’ve just come home from work. You sit down and relax, not in any elated or distressed state of mind. The state of awareness you are in-the emotional state you return to and have returned to all your life-can exist in a future life. That calm state is who you are from a point of view of awareness. I refer to this as baseline awareness.
    Don’t confuse this with an object. If I throw a bowling ball into a volcano it’s gone for good. I can make one just like it but I won’t have the same one ever again. This is the way it is with objects, but processes are different. I can sing the same song again and again, because a song is a process. Awareness is also a patterned process in the brain. But it is probably not unique. The same parts of the brain light up for anger or sadness in everyone. Your baseline awareness-the awareness you return to after a heated moment-is probably something that is common to many other people. Who’s to say it can’t exist again?
    So, if a baby born today has the same baseline awareness as a baby from 1,000 years ago the baby born today is a reincarnation of the baby from 1,000 years ago.
    About baseline awareness, there are three and only three possibilities: 1.) it is unique to each person 2.) It is possessed by different groups (meaning each group possesses it’s own baseline awareness 3.) It is common to everyone. The reason I strongly doubt the first option is that different emotions (anger, sadness, etc.) are activated by the same parts of the brain for everyone. Anger is one pattern of brain activity, sadness another, etc. Also, people act like me when they are relaxing. This simply means that you can tell when someone is relaxing or tense. So, since either option 2 or 3 is more likely, reincarnation probably occurs, because baseline awareness is the part of me that feels, and the self arises from awareness.

    I've heard there is something called the veil of forgetfulness which stops us from remembering past lives.
    Since it might be confusing and would distract us from living today. So we don't need to remember we just need to be loving and forgiveness to everyone then we're on the right path.

    • @swedendive

      Well, good but to understand the meaning "rebirth" is not easy. Rinpoche is very smart - even if I prefer the Kagyu lineage - its very interesting to watch his videos and listen to his speaches. But I really dont know what I will think about rebirth. I cant say "yes it exist" or "no it dont exist"...I will have the answer when its time for me to die.
      Even the Dalai Lama has said in an interview that nothing is 100% sure. And to be honest - nothing is forever - so "rebirth" feels like that.

      I will put it in this way, people can find fault with the Buddha Shakyamuni, a fully perfected Buddha. So I think people will find fault if they look hard enough. If one is looking for teacher, then please spend the time to check out the teacher and the organisation, if you like it join, if you don't then move on. I think people should avoid being the dharma police, or spend their time exposing this or that, as a practitioner our job so to say is to practice. While one is policing others, you know where would you find the time to practice. My sharing in a nutshell.

    How long does a person reincarnate after their death? Also, does soul have age? and if so, will it dictate their maturity when they will reincarnate? One more question, can a soul have the ability to choose back their same parents? Thanks!

    • @tsemrinpoche
      @tsemrinpoche  3 роки тому +3

      Hi @Darkmand8,
      (1) After someone's consciousness leaves their body, they have up to 49 days to take rebirth. Some beings take rebirth immediately; others take up to 49 days.
      (2) Buddhism does not believe in the existence of a soul. If, however, the term is being used interchangeably with 'consciousness' in this case, then there is no age of the consciousness because we have so many countless previous lifetimes, there would not be a point to try and count how many there are.
      (3) What dictates someone's maturity when they take rebirth is the strength of their imprints. Example - if someone's imprints for compassion are very strong, then it will manifest much sooner / at a much younger age.
      (4) A being who can control and choose where they take rebirth - whether or not it is with the same parents - is a being who has some form of attainments arising from their practice.
      Hope that helps, do let us know if you have any other questions.

      @@tsemrinpoche Thank you! What's the point of praying if a life is predestined or script? Does it even change the outcome between life and death? If god doesn't heard our prayers does it means it doesn't exist? Reason because sometimes I heard prayers do help and sometimes it don't. How will you view this sifu?

    • @kphamcao
      @kphamcao 2 місяці тому

      @@EndlessXConcertgoers88I just read a little bit of Buddhism, not realized in any way but here's my answer:
      Life isn't predestined or scripted. There are however mutable and immutable Karma. Immutable Karma will happen no matter what. You can call it destiny and it would be correct in relative sense. Yet one who know the law of karma know that all results come from their past thoughts, speech, and actions. If it is all caused by you then it is fundamentally different from what most people think when they hear "predestined". Your fate is not controlled by some God-ordained plan. You created it. You have to believe in reincarnation though because most karma that you create won't open up in this life.
      Prayers might or might not help depending on the strength of said karma, the power of the being you pray to, and your own faith.

    I'm learning more about reincarnation and past lives. I would like some help to understand it better. But lets say I reincarnate and in another 'new life' I grow up with negative parents and this leads me to become a 'bad' person and by that I attract more bad experiences in my life. What then happens to me since I did not get the chance to know that we should do good, learn from our mistake and all that good stuff.. like will i reincarnate again into a 'miserable life' does anyone get what I'm saying?

    • @christineso231
      @christineso231 7 років тому +1

      Hello Lisa, thank you very much for watching and your comment. Which path would we reincarnate to next life really depends on our previous/present lives` karma. If we had done lots of bad things in previous lives, then our negative karma accumulated from previous life would lead us to what we are now. I could say we are lucky enough to be a human in this life because we have abilities/wisdom to learn Buddhism or knowledge to make us become a good one. So that we can accumulate our positive merits for this life or next one. If we were reincarnated into Animal Realm in this life, do you think we still have wisdom to learn things? Does it make sense to you ?

    im a very open minded christian and i love talks like these , very fascinating like sci-fi,
    i would say christians don't/ can't believe in reincarnation , we believe that when we die , we go to heaven ( some believe as long as you are baptised thats good enough, but some believe you need to lead a life as Jesus intended you to lead)
    assuming what we believe are both true (buddhism/ christianity ) how would a buddhist explain how a mere act of believing in Jesus can stop reincarnation ?
    thank you

    • @DavidLKechara
      @DavidLKechara 7 років тому +1

      If you are well- read Christian, you will know that early Christian theologians did a lot to wipe our traces of reincarnation from Christianity itself for tighter control of the followers.
      Unfortunately in Buddhism, we do not believe that mere belief in Buddha or his teachings can stop reincarnation. What faith can do is to change us to have deeper conviction in the teachings and the faith and thereby changing one's negative non-virtuous actions towards virtuous and in doing so, we avert negative states of rebirth.
      In order to stop reincarnation, one must apply effort and practice towards true realization of the deeper causes of death and rebirth. The Buddha specified 12 Interdependent links and through deep understanding and meditation on these aspects alongside various practices in relations to the Buddha in order to develop 'merits' to fuel our realization in order to break this cycle. But there are other ways but there is no practice in Buddhism that works upon mere belief. I cannot comment about those in Christianity.

      Scripturally, Christianity teaches that the dead remain dead until judgment day when everyone is resurrected and either destroyed permanently or gets to live in the millenial kingdom with Jesus as king. The modern mainstream belief that people die and go straight to heaven or hell is not based on scripture.
      There are people who say you can be both a Buddhist and Christian or claim to be so, but those people typically only follow the veneer of Buddhism like it's a self-help program. Sunyata/emptiness fundamentally denies the existence of an omnipotent creator god, souls, any inherently existing thing. From a Buddhist perspective (or at least mine, anyway) Jesus is a human, possibly enlightened and maybe attained rainbow body, but not the son of a creator god.
      I have heard somewhere that reincarnation was at one point a part of Christianity but was jettisoned because the idea of getting multiple tries undermined the authority of the theocrats. I haven't really found anything to substantiate that, though.
      Belief alone won't stop reincarnation or much of anything besides critical thinking. In the early days of Christianity, there were groups of Gnostic Christians that had esoteric practices and most religions have groups that pursue higher spiritual aims (the gnostics and mystics of Christianity, the sufis of Islam, the kabbalists of Judaism, etc) but mainstream Christianity seems to have become an exoteric political structure/social club. If Jesus taught the esoteric side of things, it's not practiced by mainstream Christians. In Buddhism, no one can save you but yourself. Belief won't do anything. When you get to the core of it (Dzogchen, Mahamudra) you find out the Good News of Buddhism: there's no 'you' to be saved and nothing to be saved from.

      i've seen certain documentaries on quantum physics that there are uncountable universes or that the universe expands from nothingness and eventually contracts back to nothingness ( like breathing) and that there really isnt any ending or beginning .
      in this video they said that there is a mind from birth to birth to birth ... is there a a beginning for souls or the universe in buddhism ?
      a creation story if you will ?

    • @pchemist
      @pchemist 7 років тому +2

      The many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is popular in science fiction, but we really don't have any evidence for it. Assuming the Big Bang Theory is valid, possible ends of the universe are the Big Crunch (what you've described) or a heat death (it just keeps expanding forever and as energy gets dispersed, everything enters the lowest energy state and nothing interesting ever happens). We don't really know what would come before the Big Bang or after a potential Big Crunch, but some have the idea that vacuum fluctuations occur because nothingness is unstable. That's on the science side.
      In Buddhism, it depends on the "view" you are taking. A cyclical structure of time with no beginning or end is a common way of looking at conventional reality. There are stages to the cycles and we're currently in a kali yuga or degenerate age. In the higher views, though (such as dzogchen) you find that the true nature of reality is non-dual and basically dualistic/conceptual mind can't really understand it. Analogies are given, like rigpa/awareness is like an ocean and the phenomenal world is like waves or that rigpa/awareness is like a projector and the world we experience is the movie shown on the screen. So really, nothing is ever created or destroyed and time doesn't really exist, either. When you dream, where did the dream world come from? Was it created, come about on its own, etc? When you wake up from the dream, you realize the true nature of it's non-existence and the same is basically true of the world we seem to be in now.

  • @CovertGamer987
    @CovertGamer987 3 роки тому

    Excellent explanation, but I still have a few questions:
    1.) Who created my mind?
    2.) Is the concept of reincarnation based on an eternal universe? Scientists tell us that the universe had a beginning (based on the Kalam Cosmological Argument), and the universe is expanding. Billions of years later, the universe would be so cold that all life in the universe would cease to exist. How will reincarnation be possible then?

    • @tsemrinpoche
      @tsemrinpoche  3 роки тому

      Hi CovertGamer987,
      (1) Buddhism does not believe in the existence of an external creator, so no one created your mind.
      (2) Reincarnation is a natural, universal law, just like gravity. Gravity exists when certain factors are present. Similarly, reincarnation exists as long as karma is present. Hence, reincarnation will always take place until all beings achieve enlightenment. When someone is enlightened, they are free from karma. Since they no longer have karma, they will no longer be subjected to death/rebirth.
      In a billion years' time, space will exist. It will not exist in the form/way that we are familiar with now, but it will still exist. Something will still occupy that space. Since something will still occupy that space, reincarnation will continue to exist. We may not recognise the beings/type of beings that are reincarnating at that time, but they will still be reincarnating.
      Thank you

      Our karma does not stop just when we die or neither it will be exhausted at the point of death, so when we are newborn we are “clean”. Karma does not work this way. Our mind stream/consciousness is continuous life after life. Our conscious mind can reborn in many forms such as human/animals/spirits/god/devas etc depending on our karma. There are 3 kinds of karma: good, negative and neutral. Our motivation plus actions will determine we get good or bad karma or even neutral karma. You can actually learn more about Karma and mindstream here: www.tsemrinpoche.com/tsem-tulku-rinpoche/buddhas-dharma/discovering-yourself-a-teaching-on-karma-mindstream.html

    • @gohjacinta28
      @gohjacinta28 7 років тому

      The subject of karma is very subtle and deep. For example, whether we have created a strong negative karma or otherwise depending on the four opponent powers. The intention of the person when creating it will determine whether the karma is positive or otherwise. Besides, there are many other things taking into consideration such as habitual karma and the differentiation between karma and merits and many more. Anyway, It can be sum up as what K.C. has shared. Do have a look at that video suggested by Him.

You have to live every single life after next. That way sum of karma is zero. Everything you do to another life will inflict yourself in that life. Time is an illusion.

    its a very good question lets look at the answer , mind can see taste, when your sleeping no mind, sometimes dreams are more profound than , the dreaming mind is a temporary resident of your body , all that is mind is only a dream , cognition not cognation
    now you are not the same person, every day you are a new person, rinpoche all the cells reproduce every day the same mind in the womb is a different mind to your for example at your age, you had a mind at gestation , but it is not the same mind its totally rebuilt and reconditioned, however you do have genetical memory from your family , karma is action, so often people use the indidan sanskrit word karma incorrectly , karma is simply translated to english as action, if you go into your genetical geno with your cosmic mind you will touch the geno foundation so much so right back to the beginning when you finish this meditation you can speak with confidence , can you complete this long personal investigation ,

Buddhism teaches us, I believe, that mind, in ignorance of how it works, is always making mind and it's observations, "solid" and subject to conflicting yet supportive emotions (which maintain duality) like anger, fear, pride...the "klesas". Buddhism comes along and says that this view is, upon examination (via meditative discipline), is false. Mind under examination reveals itself to be "insubstantial" and "transparent". The klesas cannot hold up with this view. View is all important. With correct view, klesas dissolve and the practicioner is free to live without fear. And this, while working with one's own mind, no matter how confused. Who knew!!! :-). Keep to the discipline!

    No, we do not have a mind at conception. This develops in the Womb as does the material body. It is also impossible to remember what happened when you were in the Womb. No food in ''heaven''. Also the mind goes to the plane it believes, so for example, ''heaven'' and ''hell'' is a mindset, not a place. And animals are sentient beings, also with souls. Please remember that.

    Actually, no one reincarnates. In the same manner, there is no such thing as Karma. These are all just old beliefs many still adhere to.
    Those other lives you think of as your past lives are the lives of your other selves. We tend to think of ourselves as this singular being we know of ourselves, but we're more than that. In other words, we are many of our own selves.
    We are a multidimensional being experiencing not only here on this planet but in my other realities as well all simultaneously.
    We're all interconnecting with our other selves but don't realize that. Thus when a person is put under hypnosis and sees his/her past lives, what the person is doing is simply connecting with his other selves who are presently having those other experiences in those other timeframes/timelines. And yet some experience themselves in the future.
    I for example presently have another life in China as a shaolin monk. I could go there and meet him. I've also connected with a couple of my future lives/selves who are presently experiencing in what we'd view as our future. One of them is a time traveler.
    Btw, there are an infinite number of dimensions/realities we can experience. Thus to just think that we have to come back over and ever is quite limiting in itself.

      Anyway, i know someone who is very good channeling these type of information. So, recently my gf decided to have a session with him and verify some of her impressions. I told her to ask about her impression of this monk, and some of our other lives together. For sure, she was right. She was told that the shaolin monk is another of my focuses _(another me, that is),_ and that we - my gf and i - do have other lives together _(about 240 something)._ But also, she was told that i have another present focus in this timeline as a politician, although she was not given a name or any additional information about this other me.
      Days went by, we then found ourselves talking about this other me who is a politician, when all of a sudden she got a name in her head. So, we decided to look up the name. Interesting enough, it happens that the name is of a politician living in the state of Ohio. We looked him up on the net and from watching him and listening to him and reading about, she also feels that i and him has a similar core energy.
      As for my future lives, i happened to connected with a couple of them by feeling, sensing them. This type of thing happens with me when i'm very focused and in the moment.

      13x60, thank you for letting us know about your very special experiences. We have many `unknown knowledges even cannot be solved with today`s advanced technology. If your gf does have this ability, this is the very precious gift from herself or her karma.

      13x60 Very well put! We are the same consciousness subjectively perceiving itself. There is no difference between you and I. You are "my reincarnated self," but that terminology is just a misunderstanding. My mother is me as well. It's just consciousness manifesting itself through a multitude of forms.
      There's more that can be said, but this along with what else has been said is sufficient.
      For those that wish for wisdom, "Stay outside; seek within."

      @Eric W. Reincarnation is not limited to only humans. Reincarnation, in the Buddhist sense, is the mind that travels in an unbroken continuum. Our human is only a temporary body that the mind occupies. It is the same for animals. If a dog dies, its mind will move onto a different body. The mind’s journey, in between bodies, will be determined by what are its previous actions it performed in the prior body. Therefore, if a human during his lifetime, did some very negative actions, upon death, the mind will need to leave the physical body and move onto a different physical body, that mind (if it have sufficient merits to occupy a human body) will occupy a certain body that is determined by what it did previously. This explains why all humans are not the same as one another.

    Brahman Flaw:-
    An important attribute of brahmin is he must be maximal great. If Brahman is a Maximal great being , then he shouldn't be dependent on his creation.But,he is dependent of his creation. so he is not maximal great being. Therefore,Brahman is not maximally great. So,he is not God.
    Karma flaws:
    1)If God has both good and evil then there is no need of man to equip goodness as whatever he may be after death he will also have good and bad and he can reach God whatever he may be and no need of karma.
    2) if God is only good and people whatever they are doing bad are imagination of them,then whatever the people doing in there life is good as evil is imagination of them,then also they will reach God and no need of karma.
    Karma principle " for every action there is equal and opposite reaction". As, we have sinned against infinite God our punishment should be infinite.
    Friends,as our heart is sinful we are doing bad things like lies,porn,hate etc... When we repent to Jesus for our sins and ask forgiveness,he will forgive us and cleanse our heart & gives a new heart which hates sin and loves righteousness. I experienced in my heart joy & peace and I want you also to have a life of joy, peace and righteousness.

    "You have to have had a mind at conception to have it in gestation, 9 months, to have it at birth, to have it at childhood, 10 years ago, wednesday and now, correct?"
    No. Does not follow. He completely skips providing any proof of or explanation of the basis of this claim.
    The mind is an emergent phenomenon. It arises when the constituent parts are there and functioning, just like a computer program.
    This instance of Windows wasn't running before the computer was put together and turned on.
    And if you destroy the computer and its hard drive completely, the programs won't levitate up off it in search for other hard drives to inhabit.
    That's superstition, attempting to sound rational/scientific.

      John Johannesen Looks like you want scientific proof huh!
      Here’s one www.brianweiss.com/ here’s another www.google.com.my/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/bozo-sapiens/201002/reincarnation-the-cabinet-dr-stevenson%3famp and another www.newtoninstitute.org/about-tni/dr-michael-newton/
      These are but just a few for many other researches, institution or organisation that not only recognised past lives but also turned that into courses for studies and academic purposes. Study up! 😄 You might not be able to accept at first but please have an open mind and read about it. You want proofs, you want scientific proof and you want logic not?

      Tharindu Abeysinghe Tharindu Abeysinghe There are tons of it, be it in Yuotube or you can simply google it. If you want, search for reincarnation in this channel. However, the best of it is to contemplate after reading it. Don’t force upon yourself to accept but do acknowledge that there’s possibility there.
      You know, lately I discovered quite an interesting video about this lady Dr.Rauni Leena shared by H.E. the 25th Tsem Tulku Rinpoche. Maybe this will give you a head start. m.ua-cam.com/video/eLIrZg8kaqM/v-deo.html
      Mind you, this powerful lady isn’t a Buddhist or whatever and yet she is so precise in her descriptions on this subject matter.

      I can understand your argument.
      Perhaps there are somethings in life that one cannot truly understand, like why some people lived in third world countries, why some people died at a young age, why some people lived in dangerous situations while others don’t.
      Therefore Buddha explained this theory of the Mind, and that is related to reincarnation. And actually, Tsem rinpoche was talking about the very subtle mind and gross mind, which are 2 different things, how we are the actual creator and cause of everything that happened in this life. The mind that developed through conception and via our environment as we grow up develops the gross mind and the gross mind can have imprints on our subtle mind for our future life times. This subtle mind in buddhist terms, transcends through beginningless times.
      The gross mind, in my understanding has a stronger inclination to create karma and habituation.
      Karma and habituation can cause manifestation of the outer reality, which explains why some people living in third world country living in poverty and danger, or born in an abusive family, whereas some people are living in riches. It is the ripened cause and effect. You must have a reason for the state you are in now. Is very much like overeating will make you fat from a logical pov.
      Many people said that it is mere coincidence or luck. However looking at how seemingly “unfair” life is - there is no basis to unfairness. There must be a reason to the “unfairness”. Buddha explained our gross mind created the causes of Happiness or Sufferings from our past lives. We cannot escape karma. Understanding Karma also help sets us Free from searching all the Whys in life, and having that universal responsibility of how we are the creator of everything that we have right now, whether is it from a past life, or this life. And you are actually the creator of your future lives.
      Then you must be thinking, There must be a source of emergent of the subtle mind - which can’t be traced back at all no matter how far back you go. So in Buddhism, they say the subtle mind is beginning-less. It has no beginning. So you can have countless eons of lifetimes which is the result of karmic imprint. That being said, the subtle and gross mind arises to many many countless reincarnations.
      another qn would be who is the source/god/creator of the subtle mind? Hinduism believe is Brahma whereas Christians believe is Jesus creating Adam and Eve. We are all fragments of God. But to Buddhism, it is hardly important to know who is the source of the beginning of minds. The sole responsibility of all of us is A) Be a good Person on a human level and be responsible for ourselves and future lives B) to not only be responsible for ourselves, but also develop compassion of all beings and help others to get out of cyclic existence (basically becoming a buddha/enlightened being yourself).
      Sorry about the long message, but I hope this helps understanding Buddhism.

    LOTTERY analogy. you are 01-19-06-07-24-46 now and someday when reincarnated, you will be 06-46-01-24-07-19 in the next life. same set of numbers, different sequence. some numbers may never come out again thats why we are 7 Billion now and only 2 Billion are reincarnated. but i don't believe in reincarnation but i buy lottery tickets sometimes.

      It seems there are infinite number of sentient beings, however there is a finite number. Rebirth happens between the 6 realms of desire, gods, demigods, humans, animals, hells and spirits. In one square metre of soil, there are billions of animals or micro-organisms which are part of animal kingdom. Animals can reborn as humans, and vice versa. Not only that the universe is so vast, there are lifeforms in the stars too.

    I would like to add the therawada perspective here. Well yes their is a continuety of mind sequense not the mind. If weconsider that we have a permenant mind, its like soul or something that never ends..but this is not correct in selfless ,Anicca theory of buddhism. So what there is, sequense of minds.. within very small time (pico seconds>) a mind begins and ends..it will be cause to another mind..so instantly another will begin and end. So the cause and effect run through out the life..at the death last mind (chuthi) will over here. It will cause another mind somewhere else. So the sequense of minds is contineus untill we will be enlightened. Once enlightened being passes away that last mind never generate another one. So that is nibbana. No reincarnation for buddhas ,arahants.
