Jen, running has always been one of my biggest challenges in life & you have inspired me to sign up for the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. I have about 80LB to lose & I am going to conquer this! Ty for being my motivation!!! You are amazing!!!
Diane thank you for sharing that with me. Your comment is EXACTLY why I will keep making the running videos no matter what! I wish you the best of luck on your journey and please let me know if there's anything I can do to help!
I am going to be participating in my FIRST RunDisney Event in the.... Walt Disney World Resort Half Marathon (Virtual) In January 2021! I am so excited to take part in the RunDisney Community! And to become a marathoner runner! I’ve dreamed of doing a RunDisney Event someday! And now, I will get to make that dream become a reality! I am so excited!😊
Great video, and an encouraging one for me! I'm just coming back from an injury that's taken me a whole year to walk again from and am starting my own training plan. I'm no longer training for ultra marathons like I used to, right now my goal is to be able to walk for my trip to Disney World in March, and I was able to walk .75 miles today, which is a huge victory for me! Thanks for your inspirational content!
Wow, sounds like you've had quite an ordeal. Congratulations on the .75 miles! I truly can't imagine how frustrating this has been for you but sounds like you have an amazing attitude!!
I'm new to running only done 1 5k and a training app 0-5k , signed up for the 10k run disney in April 2023 so better strengthen my knees and get training been taking it alittle easy because of muscle spasms and a pinched nerve in my right shoulder, but I'm eager to get back at it ❤️, alittle nervous too I've hiked 6 miles but never a run 🏃♀️
Hi - I did a 3.5 mile walk/run today, the part I liked about running/walking - as I don't want damage bones and joints although I've always walked. Loved you video on the long haul travel, packing etc, and especially about the bathrooms on planes
Yes, give yourself grace! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It is sometimes hard to do but it has to be given. I know sometimes I put a lot of pressure on myself and can feel defeated if I miss a run but that doesn’t help the situation. You have to pick yourself up and move on. Q&A: What is your favorite race you’ve ever done? Doesn’t have to be runDisney.
Has I've gotten older I love Jeff Galloway's run/walk/run intervals. I'm preparing for the Wine and Dine Two Course Challenge, and then the Star Wars Challenge in April 2020. Hope one day I get to run into you at the parks!!
As I’ve mentioned, I don’t run... but started following a gal who does the walk/run method in her house... thinking that might be a good fit for me to start. I’d LOVE to do a run disney event someday, even if I end up walking the entire thing 😁
Nertz? I LOVE IT. I thought I was the only one that said that 😆 Also, soooo inspirational. I’m training for my first 5K and this just spurs me along. Thank you 🥰
Jen, these running videos are some of my favorites, keep up the amazing content! I have a few questions for you: 1. What is your favorite Rundisney race medal? 2. Aside from required clothing and shoes, what is one item you cannot run without (this can be pre-run, during the run, or post run). 3. Where is your favorite place to buy your running tops? Thanks Jen! P.S. I have seen in your prior videos how you love the Nuun tablets, I recently got some to try and I am hooked! I truly feel like they help with post run hydration and I love how I don’t have that full gross feeling like I do when I drink a sugary Gatorade. Thank you for recommending them!!
I really enjoy the Galloway method and do strength training in between. Right now I'm training for the Wine and Dine Challenge and just started the dual run weekends. It's getting close! One of my biggest questions coming out of Wine and Dine is how to transition in to a new training cycle since I'll also be doing the Fairy Tale Challange +5k. I also have the Believe Training journal and completely love it.
Runday Monday! I have found it a bit more of a struggle this summer (more just August) keeping with my training plan because of the heat and humidity. Now that I am two weeks from first half marathon this fall and the weather is a little bit more conducive for running outside, I'm trying to keep to my plan. Questions: What has been your favorite runDisney and non-Disney races? What is something (other than running clothes or shoes) you think is essential for runners? What do you do for strength training? What types of runs do you do and how often (tempo, fartlek, speed, etc.)? I think I remember you mentioning doing a 30 day yoga challenge thing, how did that go and do you feel like it impacted your running? How do you find motivation when you don't feel like going for a run? What is your method for recovery (either after a long run or after a race)? I think you have addressed some of these before, but trying to come up with some ideas.
#nertstothat 🤣👏🏻 my favorite! I keep saying that I should start to run, but everytime I say it, I cringe lolol! However, when you said “I go for a run when I want to hurt family members” lolol I said to my hubby, “maybe I should start that!” 🤣🤣 Thank you for the inspiration! 🏃🏻♀️
C’mon sing! Lol! Great information, Jen. I love your message of ‘grace’ to ourselves. It’s a great reminder for those of us who are a combo of goal oriented AND busy with life. I’ll try to think of a question and comment a bit later... I want it to be a REALLY good question😁
I never took the time to actually learn to run. I just jumped in full throttle and was never able to really improve. For instance, it was a year and although I managed to finish the Broad Street Run 10 Miler, I can’t even run close to half a mile without stopping. When I start again I am vowing to start the C25K program and see how I do.
I always say that my only time goal for a race is to make my lunch reservation! People always think that I'm joking, but I never joke about my post-race food :) I think that someone else had a very similar question, but I would love to hear any advice you have about fueling! Any pre/mid/post -run things you do, what you've tried that works, what you've tried that doesn't, anything along those lines would be really helpful!
Very amateur runner here - usually only do about 2-2.5 miles, sometimes 3. We do a 5k each fall so that is our goal each year. I’m sure the answer to my question is in the Jeff Galloway training plan but how many “off days” do you do before your long run? We typically do 3 days running and then take a day off. We had been doing 2 shorter runs and then the long run but I was always so worn out by the time we got to it 🙄 thanks for any help you have!
I’m glad you asked for questions. Today I had an appointment with my np. She asked if I was active and I’m not. I mentioned wanting to try running. She asked if it was because I’d get faster results (weight loss) with running. The answer was no. I want to start running because you made me want to run a half marathon through the castle. Come to find out my np was Cinderella way back when... so my questions. When should I start running? I also live in a hot climate (south Louisiana). Also would you recommend this program or another for an absolute beginner? What do you bring with you for your runs? What do you need to get started?
I love that story and how wonderful that she was a “friend of Cinderella” - that’s so fun! I love your question and will try to get that in the video because i think a lot of people would benefit from that!!🥰🥰🥰
Im not new to running, however I have just run/jogged/walked to get my cardio in or to warm up before any strength training. It’s never been my favorite. BUT I signed up for my first rundisney event ( wine & dine 5k to start). I WANT to become a runner. I WANT to enjoy running like you do! So first question, was there ever a time where you didn’t like running? And if so, what did you do to overcome it? Watching your runday Monday’s, I notice you prefer running outside. I’ve always mainly stayed on treadmills but would like to start running outside to prepare for more runs in the future after the wine & dine! The unevenness of the road/sidewalk & the heat ( I live in Fl) have scared me away. How do you recommend transitioning from a treadmill to outdoors? Last but not least! What advice do you have for a newish runner to keep motivated? Thank you for allowing us into your everyday life! I love all of your joyful living & Disney advice! 😊
Such a good point about how to get back in the swing of things from a missed run. That fact that you only complete 60-70% of the program was super surprising to me! Do you think this would work with other general exercise programs...?
Kudos to you! I don't know when I'll get back to any training plan... how old does one's kids have to get? Right now if I didn't pay a trainer once a week I wouldn't get any exercise on a weekly basis. But that is my place holder until my daughter is a little older. 😋
My question would be, how long ago did you start running? And also as a follow-up, how do you overcome aches and pains like plantar fasciitis and maybe heel spurs? Love the outro by the way, stay joyful I love it!
One of my bucket items is to run a 5K at Disney. I am hoping to do that next year. I am not a runner and I'm planning on using the Jeff Galloway method. I live in the northeast so winters can be pretty harsh. Any advice you can give on training when outside running is not an option and the treadmill is all you have. Thanks!
I am a new runner and a newcomer to your channel. Thank you for the message of grace. So important to hear. I started training last year for the Star Wars races. I wasn't able to run much of the half and it was a very heavy and emotional experience. How can one set reasonable expectations? Also, some suggestions on how to calm pre-race nerves?? Sitting and waiting in the corrals was tough and only added to the tension once I started the half. Do you run by yourself at the events?
Do you take pre workout? Protein? My question is basically what do you take to help you with workouts? Are you interested in any cool races? I’m interested in lULulemon someday.
Hi! What inspired you to run 4 full marathons? I completed a marathon as a bucket list goal but don’t have much desire to do it again. I know I can do it..and it hurt lol!
10k just hearing it I need to sit down and take a breath lol 😂 even though I’m not a runner I still take a lot away from these videos it could be motivation or a tip thanks Jen! I do find cardio at the gym is easier on Sundays I feel less rushed idk why...
I'm going to start following his method. Thank you for this video! At 34 I'm not trying to kill myself and care less about speed. Also, what am I supposed to wear as it gets colder to run? I'm clueless...
Great video and thank you for answering me! I was a little excited okay screaming on the airplane she mentioned me! My husband was like who? Lol I beamed for days! Thank you! I do have another question please. Just got back from Disney and walked a ton and it was hot hot hot! I have a rash from the friction on my backside and am worried I’ll be hurting for my race Saturday I am doing. Any tips or suggestions, never had this happen before. I bought body glide for next time but curious how to correct, surely other runners have had this issue Embarrassing 😔
First of all you just made my day with this comment and I hope you had a great trip!!🥰🥰🥰Second you should be fine by Saturday but use gold bond powder and try to air out as much as possible and use lots of body glide on race day. It’s such a common thing - Disney really should come with a warning label this time of year!!😫
Joyful Living with Jen Lefforge will do! Your the best! Are you going to be at Wine and Dine by chance? Doing my first 10k ever and my first Disney race.
Can I ask a silly question please? Is there a training app for Jeff for my phone? Or do I have to print online? I am training for my first half and am curious.
Amen! I signed up for the 10k at marathon weekend instead of the half so I didn't have as much stress & can enjoy the time more. Of course I do have a half in November to do before I get to January! Question: doing the 10k or 5k at an event like marathon weekend, do you have any suggestions on how to not fall into the "I'm just doing..." trap? I'm afraid it might be a downfall of mine that weekend...does that question make sense?
Love this Jen!! I am running my very first runDisney race (the 10k!) in January. I’ve been following a run-walk plan as well and am wondering if you have recommendations for a watch or app that makes it easy to set intervals? I’ve been on the treadmill so far, so have just been keeping my eye on the time there.
The heat index was 112° today, even running inside on the treadmill it still took it’s toll on my efficiency. Do you have multiple pairs of running shoes that you switch out during the week or do you use the same pair daily until you need new ones?
Magic mile is hard! Definitely check out the Jeff Galloway website for that. But as far as Tuesday Thursday just run 30 minutes at an easy pace if you’re a beginner!
What kind of hydration and fuel do you use on your longer runs? Gels are just gak to me so am exploring other options! Also, are you going to do the Star Wars weekend 2020....they just released the themes today!
I’ve watched a bunch of your running videos even though I don’t run. Lol I think that style of running with short breaks of walking is very interesting. I’ve tried running (really more like jogging) in the past and have found it so difficult to just jog and jog constantly so to hear it’s an actual technique is interesting. I do have a question. What advice would you give to someone with chronic health issues/chronic pain who has never run before? I’m intrigued by the idea of running for fitness and mental/emotional health but I have chronic joint and muscle pain and don’t even know if I could run. I know you have Hashimoto’s so I thought you might have experience with chronic pain and running or have heard from other with chronic pain (such as autoimmune or other disorders that just cause pain, not like joint injuries that would prevent safely running) who may (or may not?) have been able to succeed with running.
Hi Jen, what advice would you recommend for someone starting out and who is easily out of breath. I've been able to power walk a good 10km (not sure how many miles 😊 Canadian here) however running has always been a challenge.
Do you have an app that tracks your run and does your intervals for you? I have not been able to figure out an easy way to do both yet. Just winging it on my walk breaks right now. Do you ever get shin splints? I have not had them yet during this time around training but did 6k yesterday and my shins were a little sore after and worry the longer I go the more they are going to hurt. I am doing the 5k and 10K marathon weekend and hope I am ready for it and winter doesn’t get too brutal here to interfere with training so trying to get ahead of it in case it doesn’t go as planned in the winter months. Also you drink anything while on cooler longer runs? 5k is no problem for me right now but 10K is the one that worries me after my one and only 10K did not go so smooth. Last question is have you ever used a running coach? Thanks
I probably have a lot more since I am still trying to figure out how to stay with running for the long haul but thanks for giving me a chance to ask a few.
Love RunDay Monday! It’s so encouraging to watch these videos. Especially when it’s soooo hot & you have miles to work in. 🥵 Questions: 1) How does it feel physically after a half marathon? (I’m really nervous about this for the Princess Half. Assuming I’ve trained correctly, followed the plan, & run at a comfortable pace, should I expect to feel like I’m going to die? Sorta exhausted? A bit tired but hey let’s hit the parks?) 2) Can somebody talk about underwear for this? I know in one of your other videos, you talked about going to a running store for a running bra...but are there special underwear for that too? (Seems weird to ask people on the internet about their underwear, but seriously...are there running underwear I’m supposed to go look for somewhere? 😂)
Jen, running has always been one of my biggest challenges in life & you have inspired me to sign up for the Disney Princess 1/2 marathon. I have about 80LB to lose & I am going to conquer this! Ty for being my motivation!!! You are amazing!!!

Love that I'm not alone in the whole middle-age training modifications. ;)

How exciting that's wonderful!
You are cranking out the videos! Love you, love your videos!
Thank you, Friend!! It’s the slightly cooler Atlanta weather - it’s very energizing🥰

Have fun at Wine and Dine!! That’s always a fantastic weekend and yes please say hello if you see me!
I don’t even run (but who knows bc you are always an inspiration!), yet I always love to hear your Runday Monday vlogs! 🤗
Never say never right Anne Marie?? Thanks so much for watching!!
🏃♂️ 👑. The weather is finally nice enough in GA to run without dying of heat. ❤️😘
Seriously Major I finally enjoyed myself out there this morning!
I love your running videos! Thank you!!
You are so welcome, Melissa! I love doing them! How’d your race go??
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge It was great, thank you! After about a quarter mile the rain didn't bother me at all.
As I’ve mentioned, I don’t run... but started following a gal who does the walk/run method in her house... thinking that might be a good fit for me to start. I’d LOVE to do a run disney event someday, even if I end up walking the entire thing 😁
I’ve done it - waking the whole thing - and it’s totally doable!
Nertz? I LOVE IT. I thought I was the only one that said that 😆
Also, soooo inspirational. I’m training for my first 5K and this just spurs me along. Thank you 🥰
Jen, these running videos are some of my favorites, keep up the amazing content! I have a few questions for you:

P.S. I have seen in your prior videos how you love the Nuun tablets, I recently got some to try and I am hooked! I truly feel like they help with post run hydration and I love how I don’t have that full gross feeling like I do when I drink a sugary Gatorade. Thank you for recommending them!!
Great questions!! And thank you for the kind words AND I’m so glad you like Nuun 🥰🥰🥰
1st Marathon is coming up in November! I can’t imagine running in the summer in Atlanta! I’ve been struggling this summer in PA.
Great questions, Lindsay, thank you!
Not sure what channel this would fall under, but maybe talking about how to beat spectate the races at marathon weekend?
Jessica, I don't have a lot of experience with that but i do always cheer for the full so yes, can definitely cover that a little bit!
Runday Monday! I have found it a bit more of a struggle this summer (more just August) keeping with my training plan because of the heat and humidity. Yes! Don’t make it up and let it go!
Lessons we've probably both learned the hard way! LOL!
Lol yes!!! My first dopey I did that and way overtrained! Second time around I was a bit more relaxed and had so much fun!
C’mon sing! Lol! Great information, Jen. I love your message of ‘grace’ to ourselves. It’s a great reminder for those of us who are a combo of goal oriented AND busy with life. I’ll try to think of a question and comment a bit later... I want it to be a REALLY good question😁

I love these videos! I find them very encouraging and make me feel like I can not only do the Disney race but that I can do it well.
You 100% can, Tammy! And finish with a smile on your face and enough energy to refuel in Epcot! (Secretly my favorite part:)

John, you could so do a 10K or even the WDW marathon if you chose to! It really is a fabulous race! I am a horrible influence. LOL
Joyful Living with Jen Lefforge doing a WDW race would really be a goal for me that would be amazing.
I'm going to start following his method. Thank you for this video! At 34 I'm not trying to kill myself and care less about speed. Also, what am I supposed to wear as it gets colder to run? I'm clueless...

I started to get back into running since i had my kids what is a good starting milage do you think i should start with?
Love this Jen!! I am running my very first runDisney race (the 10k!) in January. I’ve been following a run-walk plan as well and am wondering if you have recommendations for a watch or app that makes it easy to set intervals? I’ve been on the treadmill so far, so have just been keeping my eye on the time there.
Yup!! Will definitely cover that next week!
The heat index was 112° today, even running inside on the treadmill it still took it’s toll on my efficiency. Do you have multiple pairs of running shoes that you switch out during the week or do you use the same pair daily until you need new ones?
UGH. And great question. And again, UGH. Come on fall temperatures!
Magic mile... I’m so confused by this and what am I supposed to be doing for my Tuesday/Thursday runs?
Magic mile is hard! Definitely check out the Jeff Galloway website for that. But as far as Tuesday Thursday just run 30 minutes at an easy pace if you’re a beginner!
What kind of hydration and fuel do you use on your longer runs? Gels are just gak to me so am exploring other options!
Also, are you going to do the Star Wars weekend 2020....they just released the themes today!
Kelley i saw!! I’m so excited! Yes great questions thank you😍
I’ve watched a bunch of your running videos even though I don’t run.
I love this question!! Thank you Becca - yes I have words on this (shocking) so will definitely put that one in!
Thank you! I look forward to the video and your words! I love your words. 😂🤣❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jen! Here’s my question. I know you like the Altra shoes. How long did it take for you to transition to zero drop shoes?
Love this question, Brooke! Thank you!
Hi Jen, what advice would you recommend for someone starting out and who is easily out of breath. I've been able to power walk a good 10km (not sure how many miles 😊 Canadian here) however running has always been a challenge.
Hmmmm . . . I would definitely seek medical advice on that one!! But a great question!
Hey, I can comment now! Aren’t you glad? Let me know when that Princess training starts! 😬
Thanks
Wow great questions!! Thank you!!
I probably have a lot more since I am still trying to figure out how to stay with running for the long haul but thanks for giving me a chance to ask a few.
Never heard of a Polar Watch, why do you like it?
I love it, Brenda! On my main channel I did a full review of it I think if you search Jen Lefforge Polar Watch it should come up?
Oops Jen, I guess I missed that one. :-) Just watched it, great info.
Love RunDay Monday! It’s so encouraging to watch these videos. Especially when it’s soooo hot & you have miles to work in. 🥵
Questions: 1) How does it feel physically after a half marathon? (I’m really nervous about this for the Princess Half. Assuming I’ve trained correctly, followed the plan, & run at a comfortable pace, should I expect to feel like I’m going to die? Sorta exhausted? A bit tired but hey let’s hit the parks?) 2) Can somebody talk about underwear for this? I know in one of your other videos, you talked about going to a running store for a running bra...but are there special underwear for that too? (Seems weird to ask people on the internet about their underwear, but seriously...are there running underwear I’m supposed to go look for somewhere? 😂)
Oh my gosh Sarah I love all these questions!! Thank you!
Do you have any bucket list races you haven't done yet but have always dreamed of doing?
Great question! Thank you!
Not on topic - I covet your chair - I need one like it for a “hole” in my living room now that my kids are over the hot mess stage.
It belonged to my great-grandmother and my husband thinks it’s haunted.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😍
