I had torn my Acl completely 18 months ago at work. I choose not to do surgery. Now i am doing deadlifts and squats with no issues. Only issue is when i do sharp moments, i play soccar and love running. My advice is dont rush to surgery unless you are a professional athlete. I think the human body has the capacity to heal byself. If you choose to not go for surgery keep training your legs twice a week.
Thank you for posting this video. I am 3 months (to the day) post ACL tear from soccer and opting to try to recover with no surgery. Your video was a good source of inspiration, confidence, and informative around recovery paths.
I relate alot to everything in this vodeo especially the last part about the confident and mindset about the knee being the bad knee that needs to go away to heal completely, even after surgery.
Thanks for sharing your story! I fully ruptured my ACL about a month ago training BJJ. I have opted out of recon surgery in favor of rehab even thought the orthopedic surgeon said the only way I can go back to doing jiujitsu is having the surgery. Can I ask, how long did it take to return to training BJJ and feeling confident to train again? Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Hi there, I'm sorry I cant be more helpful on return to BJJ. This injury happened years before I started doing jui jitsu. With that being said, strengthening my hamstrings through bridges variations, deadlifts, hamstring curls and more have all been extrememly helpful in the long term health of my knees. Best wishes!
@@amandac613I am now 4 months post injury. I have been working remotely with a Physio in Australia who has a non surgical ACL healing protocol. I highly recommend reaching out to them if you want to avoid surgery (Global Specialist Physio)I now have full range of motion & only occasional pain. I don’t plan to return to BJJ until I get the go ahead from my Physio. I also plan to do a follow up MRI. Best of luck with your recovery!
@@thestudentphysicaltherapist thanks for the reply! The fact that you’re able to train BJJ post injury is a testament to your healing! I hope to be able to do that same 😊
Your personal story is a morale booster for me.. I have full ACL tear, partial MCL and meniscus damage. Its been four weeks and still exploring options to stay out of surgery. Any tips will help me
Man that is the best question. I have not simply because I am doing well and I dont want to go through my PCP to get approved for an MRI then have to pay the ridiculous cost of getting an image. I am very curious about this myself though. Thanks for the comment.
Thank you so much for this video. May I please ask you a video about the first part of the recovery what I can do week 2 or 3 after the tear until I get at 90%
Hi there, for the initial phase, I really think you need to see a licensed physical therapist to help you establish a plan, identify strengths and weaknesses, and discuss long term success strategies.
I had a positive anterior drawer test, but this test in itself doesnt identify instability. I did not have too much instability with the exception of deep squatting positions.
@ ha Im sorry you found it useless. I am hoping that it provides perspective on training options, mindset, and general rehab tips, but I am sorry none of that value was gained.
Hey there man, I really appreciate your video. I am in a similar situation and dont want surgery. Can you please share on how did you recover first 90%?
Hi sorry for my delayed response. I highly recommend seeing a PT specializing in knee rehab to identify strengths and weaknesses. A tailored plan is necessary for a successful outcome. Thank you for the comment and best wishes.

For football you should get surgery
Thank you!

Thank you. I too believe that mindset is vital to recovery. We must get over limiting beliefs or ideas that others have said is 'impossible.'

How are you doing! I did the same thing about 1.5 months ago in bjj and am wondering the same!!

Thanks for this, what was your early recovery process?
Would this apply for a full acl tear?
Yes,same question here
No
Thanks for the video. Have you recently done a MRI to assess if your ACL got reconstructed?

Yeah without mri this video is useless
