I am in awe, I have nearly finished a very curvy panel , absolutely in no way as difficult as yours and I have already had a big melt down 😢I almost got a hammer to smash it , but then I realised I was being ridiculous 😂

Sounds like a rational response to me 💁

Don't feel ridiculous. I have definitely gotten mad enough at pieces to feel the need to walk away from them for months.

(from the perspective of an intermediate hobbyist) watching you navigate/problem solve is very instructive. love the use of a thumbnail to quickly mark ends to nibble. your came seems more pliable than what we have here (NW US). maybe its my imagination. I wonder about the gaps, or the lack thereof, between came ends to be soldered. while, ideally, the joints would be tight, they are, for me, not always, so soldering must bridge the gaps. wondering what your attitude is about this; do you expect all came ends to tightly abut. I've begun soldering as I go, after assembling a group of pieces, preventing crawling/wiggling. wondering what you tend to do, generally speaking. that you allow us to observe your process, and the challenges, is very generous. thank you.

Any gap bigger than 1mm I patch on both sides of the panel with a tiny bit of came. I usually lead and solder a roundel ( meaning a circular design in the middle of a panel of about 7") separately. I understand why you might solder as you go but I like being able to knock the window about with a fid or oyster knife at the end so get it to the right size. If it has grown I can often reduce it with a bit of welly.

Hi again, Sophie. Alongside enjoying your videos, i am attempting to learn more about mosaics, but you've spoilt me. Your engaging way of communicating your passion, your process and even your aaaaaargh! moments have not prepared me for the the loud-mouthed hype merchants, the me-me-me videographers, or the dull as ditchwater proponents of mindnumbingly dry, informative but totally charmless fayre that I've come across so far. I know that you also enjoy making mosaics, so is there any possibility - pleeeease - that you could host a channel on mosaics in the same vein as your stained glass one?
After that, please could you do an in depth series, maybe entitled "Sophie learns....." on woodcarving, needle felting, willowcraft - oh, hell, let's face it, all crafts, so that i have someone to watch do these things without wanting to drill holes in my head?
    Pleadingly, yours

I quite like your idea of the total craft channel as I am always trying new things when time allows. The trouble with making videos is the hours it takes to edit down the footage. I'm really glad you like my style of presenting. That's lovely to hear. Personally I struggle with shouty and over excited presentation styles! Over Xmas I will be doing more mosaic work so watch this space. :-)

more: @ 20:42 & 25:19 you nail-mark an end to be snipped, then use your snippers to cut across the flat of your came (without a collapse of the wall). damn, I've got to get a pair of them snippers especially if they allow me to cut oblique angles. thoughts?

Hi Sophie, love your work, question from Australia. What is the name of the off pinkish shade of glass in that piece. Thank you for your videos have picked up quite a few tips and your approach to your videos is not boring, you get to the point. One can keep focused.

Thanks very much for your comments. Good to hear! I'm wondering which pink glass you mean. Quite a lot of the glass is clear with pink paint on it. Is that the glass you mean?
