The first situation is infuriating. The young man is trying to build himself up by making a living rebuilding his community thats in desperate need of help, and people threaten the young mans life! Hopefully the young mans investments pay off and he can move on to greener pastures.
This. People who are mad at the wrong people assume squatting is a victimless crime and that every abandoned property is owned by multi-million dollar real estate agencies and banks. The truth is a lot of these properties are owned by people just like that guy. 😂 It literally funny just brought myself a nice bed and I've been paying for my condo for like forever it's crazy😂 we hope I can get a bigger TV than the 32 inchs one day 🤣
That’s because you pay bills and they don’t, if you work and live in a house for free it’s a lot easier to buy nice furniture, you’re definitely doing better than they are, especially since the guy who owns the house just got all the stuff for himself and they won’t ever be there again, there’s gotta be another person staying there though that wasn’t there for the arrest, that first room was to clean for any of the people that got caught, that house had so many rooms though, really weird set up almost like a boarding house

It took 3 months of court battles to get him out and I could finally get into the home. Squatters have more rights than the owners. It's crazy. If you do not own a property and don't have a lease or permission to be there, you should get out.
It infuriates me squatters have more rights than the homeowner! Come on courts it’s not fn right!! You seem to have so much compassion for them then open YOUR doors, give them a nice safe place to stay rent free for months (even years!) I bet the laws are changed real fast!
Sqauters should have no rights. It's hard enough for hard working people to find a affordable place to live. But yet these people can literally steal a house. They should be getting grand theft.
that first one is so scary with the dude under the bed yelling he’s gonna shoot their feet. Props to the officers for going in deeper anyway to get him, they sounded so scared too.
Yeah. But it seemed like the lady cop then took out all her pent up adrenaline aggression on the next lady squatter who was being compliant. Very unprofessional.

I mean the officer says he is happy to be alive but still if sb is threadining police in that way I see much more reason to handle the situation with full force.
OBVIOUSLY, hiding is not "compliant". But yes, once she came out, she was compliant. I agree the lady cop was amped up from the guy who threatened to shoot, but it wasn't due to the lady and cop-lady didn't need to act so unprofessional. @@rhoonah5849

If you mean the first place, it's multiple apartments, you could tell when they entered the basement at the beginning, there were multiple electric meters on the wall.

The black gentleman who was fixing up a house and found what he though was like 20 people moving stuff into it. I am absolutely amazed that the cops were willing to go straight in and remove them. Maybe the gun threat had something to do with it. In too many places, once a squatter gains entry, the laws make the home owner go to court, prove he's not renting the place out, and that could take a month, then eviction could take another month, then 10 more days for them to move out. And that's the shortest time limit. I've heard of some evictions that took 2 or 3 years.

The owner should keep all the equipment and then do a $1 sale on all that stuff he can make a few bucks off of that furniture left behind. This looks like a CARAVAN OF SQUATTERS who just take over other people's property.
In some cities, if you stop electricity, water, or gas in the houses being squatted, you can be arrested. Places like New York, squatters have more rights than the home owners.

I hate to say it but I was a squatter at one time. I was 15 years old and my home life was terrible and I ran away from home. I hitch hiked from Philly and eventually ended up in Tampa, FL. I had only the clothes on my back and lived on food from dumpster diving. Oh and way too many grapefruits from the surrounding groves. I found an abandoned home in a not so nice neighborhood but the water was still in. I lived in that house for about 3 months going in and out of a bathroom window. I was so scared I was going to get caught or someone would hurt me. I don’t think I slept very well the whole time I was in there due to fear and the oppressive heat of summer and no AC. Fortunately I had fake ID and was able to get a job that enabled me to rent a room. After a year and a half I turned 17 and returned home. My parents signed enlistment paperwork for me to join the Navy. Again I was so lucky that the Navy wasn’t requiring a HS diploma to join cause I only made it to the 10th grade. Joined the Navy, continued my education and probably this year will retire from a career in Naval Aviation. I own my own home, both my children do as well. Most times squatters rights take years to be attained, and I agree they shouldn’t exist at all. But if someone leaves their stuff on your property for like 30 days it’s yours so just catch them as soon as they furnish the house and get them trespassed and keep the stuff after 30 days

I worked in mental health and once had to step between a female officer and a 14 yr old naked female standing just outside her own bathroom, a girl who was fully developed physically but could not communicate. When she stomped her foot in anger at six cops for disturbing her peace, I suppose (because she did not have any measurable mental capacity) a female cop was bringing her revolver up but before she cleared leather I stepped between her and the girl and raised my arms shouting "No guns! No guns!" The female cop re-holstered her gun, and in a couple of minutes the teen's mother convinced her to go to bed.

They don’t in the sense of modern day society. Squatters rights go back to Abraham Lincoln and the westward migration. These laws were never updated, modernized or archived. There are a lot of Indian scammer groups that do rental scams. It’s totally possible that opendoor suspect was in the process of being scammed by the “opendoor employee” when the cops showed up and he didn’t even know it. That would explain why the “employee” asked him to peek into the pool and said “do you like what you see?”, which is common before they have you wire the down payment to some offshore account.
That pit bull was a lovely dog. Really good behaviour there. She was protective, not aggressive, and put herself between the police and the woman. The officer recognised that and reacted brilliantly. Quieted her voice, kept herself steady and took a couple of steps back to let the dog know she didn't mean any harm and had the owner call her back. Keeping herself and the pup safe. I hope she got a good new home - whether that be with the owner in a more suitable, legal dwelling for someone disabled, or with a new family that'll love her. Kudos to the officer!
I really dislike squatters. We had to deal with some on our property. It took nearly 3 months to get them out---and the whole time they lived in their RV next to our cabin. He messed with the power pole, messed with our water, caused leaks, stole stuff out of our car and SUV, he was always trying to look in my home, making snide remarks, having violent fights in the middle of the night with his girlfriend, and selling meth. I lived in fear that whole time. He got paid to haul people's junk from their homes and he stacked it behind a fence he had put up and left it all behind when he moved. The man behaved so entitled. He behaved as if we were the intruders. It was so bad it got my heart acting up and I had a light stroke. It was horrible.
He's yelling "you can't break in MY house", the non paying squatter always says. Is frustrating for people who own rental properties. Entitlement is rampant in this country. Squatter "rights" need to be removed or drastically change. This is THEFT plain and simple. When caught, these thieves never pay for damage or lost rent even after you win in court. The courts NEVER go after them.

@sas2300, if they have SQUATTER'S RIGHTS, they are going to exercise their rights! The law may differ from state to state. In NYC, they have more rights than the homeowners. They cannot be evicted WITHOUT going to court and even then, loopholes protect them.

A loving family and I volunteer extensively with the homeless because I was in their shoes at one time. I know what it’s like to fight a possum for a day old box of donuts. I am so blessed.

NYC has them laying in the streets. This is supposed to be such a great country. We let new people into the country when we can’t even accommodate the ones we already have.
Virgil spoke to the commissioner, the supervisor, the mayor, the president, the pope, King Tut, and the aliens. They all agreed he has permission to be there. I don’t know why they don’t believe him. They just needed time to hide the drugs inside their “pockets” 😂

Really? I found it sad to see how the greatest country on Earth treats their mentally ill.
@@pippaknuckleyou must be dumb they treaded him in the most humane possible way for what he was saying to them. Considered and very patient
@@pippaknuckleI agree. My mom is now a brain damaged triplegic after 3 strokes and people treat her like a nuisance after she saved cancer children for 40 years. She was a highly intelligent professional prior to her strokes and she’d have better mental capacity had they just believed her when she told them clear as day, “I am having a stroke” (something a seasoned RN would know). But they treated her like a senile old woman instead and let her brain die for 2 days straight before they finally agreed to do more testing. When someone has something wrong with their brain, you cannot be impatient or judgmental. The way people treat my mom infuriates me and if you don’t have compassion, you shouldn’t work in law enforcement or the medical field. They didn’t have to belittle him while doing their job but cops just can’t handle anyone not kissing the ground they walk on.

@twotwentyswift "little games"? He's clearly mentally ill. Probably dementia or alzheimers. He's clearly confused. It makes me sick that so many people fake sickness today that people won't even believe it when someone genuinely has mental disorders.
The squatter in the first story redecorating the house is insane 😭
Meth behavior.
OMG, "I'm gonna tell you 5 more times..." Finally a state that doesn't cater to the criminals! Owner is lucky that was in OK and not CA. I have a niece in CA who had squatters. It took her over a year to get them out and the damage they did was unreal.
What drives me crazy is seeing people work hard to own a property and then seeing courts giving the criminals all the rights. But it was great how the first cops called his bluff.
That cop mad and tired from trying to kick in that door,Virgil was not leaving 🤦😂😂
Those cops were having so much fun walking up to Virgil lol

Who else thinks "Mr Williams" with NO first name was in on the whole 'renting' BS scam??
thats what I was thinking, I have no doubts the guy trying to get in the house could also be trying to squat but, the guy on the phone definitely sounded like a scammer. "mr williams with THE open door
@@iowajoe1754I'd bet money Brent Bailey was just an innocent veteran trying to rent a place and was getting scammed. Unfortunate he had a warrant.
Yep! Nigerian accent! Probably calling from Nigeria!
I reckon Mr Williams was a Nigerian prince and after he'd given Mr Bailey the keys to the house for a hefty down payment he'd let him know that he'd also won the Nigerian lottery and for another small fee his cheque would be couriered to the same address 😂
Yeah I feel pretty bad for Brent there, seems like he fell for some sort of scam. And the legal system is usually bullshit with missing court date stuff. They are really bad at just communicating when they need to see you.
One thing that is common with all these squatters is that they trash everything and everyplace they occupy. They bring junk and whatever they find into the properties, don't keep anything clean and orderly and don't care how much trouble they cause the owners of the properties. Obviously many are drug addicts and alcoholics with all kinds of mental health issues but that last guy, Falhman, was also trying to rip people off by selling them properties he was squatting in. I found it hard to feel sorry for any of them.
Some are mentally ill without drugs. I feel for them, and for the victims.
It is great to see cops treating a suspected mental case with patience and kindness, despite his lack of cooperation for so long. Kudos to all of you. No guns!" The female cop re-holstered her gun, and in a couple of minutes the teen's mother convinced her to go to bed.
... Someone that is fully developed physically at just 14 years old? And an police officer using a revolver instead of a police issued firearm? Ok buddy... This would only be true if it took place in Asia.
The fact that squatters have rights blows my mind. Roaches in my opinion
They don’t in the sense of modern day society. Squatters rights go back to Abraham Lincoln and the westward migration. These laws were never updated, modernized or archived. What we need is for states to pass legislation criminalizing modern day squatting. Archive The Homestead Act (law at the federal level). Tenant’s protection laws need to be revised to define and distinguish tenants from squatters. It the lack of laws that is the problem. No laws against squatting means law enforcement has no power to enforce
The stupid squatter under the bed was actually doing a countdown threat to shoot the cops like he's in control of the whole situation. He nearly made himself into Swiss cheese with all those armed cops in that bedroom!😅😅
The idiot wasn’t even armed!🤣
I mean, in all honesty he was high as a kite and probably just thought he was arguing with another dope fiend who was trying to steal his junk.
The cops didn't seem like they would shoot him
And he didn't even have a gun!!
Swiss cheeeees😂😂😂
I am fairly confident that the person Brent and the cop were talking to was a scammer, and brent legitimately thought he was renting that house.
As soon as I heard the guy on the phone say his name was "Mr. Williams", I knew that was a scammer most likely from Nigeria.

Why though?? It abandoned and just collecting dust. There no reason why someone can't come and take shelter in it. It no longer belong to anyone... And if it belongs to the government or some sht then they should've dealt with the building instead of leaving it abandoned.

Squatters are EVERYWHERE. No one has forever to renovate a home before someone takes over. Your repair time is short before its stolen right out frim under you. We need to end all squatters rights in this country!!!
We need to end homelessness. Reasons why squatters exist is bc they can’t afford to get a house of their own.
@@StopLookingAtMeFuckerwell maybe if the government would stop funding wars in foreign countries, allowing illegals in, and subsequently paying for their entire lives (food, housing, phones, supplying them with cash) there would be enough for American citizens. Or perhaps not as, if there were money, corrupt officials would find a way to pocket it. It’s a shame honestly
@@StopLookingAtMeFuckerI agree with both points. Squatters should have some of their rights reduced because while we like to believe all squatters can’t afford housing so,d just choose to live this life. The cop saying “if you tried to force me out of my house I’d threaten you with more than shears” was great!
My X husband was staying in my house because i felt bad for him as he was at the time homeless. His room got so disgusting that i politely asked him to leave. He then announced to me that he had Squatter's Rights and wasn't leaving and laughed in my face. He absolutely destroyed his room and the furniture in it. Bottles of pee everywhere. He left, thank goodness a few weeks later. He quickly found out that Squatters Rights only applies to abandoned property in my state. He needed more help than I could give and i made sure he got it but it was a rocky road. Some of these people really do need help.
They need help to the jail.
Glad you got rid of him. He could've said, "you can't make me leave without an eviction notice". At least in my state if you allow someone to stay in your home and later won't leave you have to give them a 30 day notice to vacate. Then you have to wait until after 30 days to get the eviction notice served.

Me and my mother were in active addiction and homelessness together. I did have a warrant. My mother got social security because she had just gotten diagnosed with leukemia a couple years before. A group of other druggies pretended to be her friend, got us into their home to “help us out” got me arrested and used her for her check. She just got her liscense this year, and this happened more than five years ago. They would only take her to get her life saving medicine in exchange for her little ss card. They would leave her dope sick and feed her dope in exchange for the check. (no excuse for doing heroin but she does have leukemia, she could never get pain meds while still in KY, so I have mixed feelings about it) Eventually they just kept her card and would not give it back. This happened until I got out of jail.
I’m clean now years later but she still struggles. I now have a stepdad at least. I may not like him but he does protect her at least now that we live four states apart.
THEY ARE USING THAT WOMAN FOR HER SS. That whole situation is so similar to the life me and mom lived except we are from Northern KY. Not too far from Dayton actually.
The, "Virgil", segment was sad but funny as hell. The bantering was awesome.
The full video of the removal of Virgil from the condemned house is on the actual creator's UA-cam channel at COLUMBUS POLICE BODY CAM. I hate when channels steal other people's hard work. The creator has to do the work and pay the money to get the body cam. The officer whose body cam it is runs the channel and does a lot for his community.
@theroxygirl731 Officer Ben does a great job. Love from the 614!
"Open the door, Virgil!"
@theroxygirl731 how do you know this was acquired from another channel?
Body cams are public records available to everyone. This channel or an affiliate can just as easily order the video as anyone you claim.
As for costs, that varies by county, typically ranging from free for emailed, to appx $60 for physical media (with some extremes).
The amount paid by the youtuber is the price he pays to be first. But he doesn't own the Public video.
@@theroxygirl731 thanks for the information. I'll be sure to check out the original poster. It does suck when people take credit for the work of others. Especially for profit.

They fully moved in like it was their own house they bought. That is crazy.
He's yelling "you can't break in MY house", the non paying squatter always says. Is frustrating for people who own rental properties. Entitlement is rampant in this country.
