Another good thing to know. The canister vent valve has a very loud audible click noise when actuated. The Bypass Solenoid, not so much. After purchasing another bypass solenoid I had the same result with not hearing a click when turned on. Once I had the bypass solenoid in my hand while i turned it on, I found out it was working as I could feel it move and when getting very close I could hear it. Something good to know for someone troubleshooting this issue.
short simple and descriptive. absolutely perfect video. subscribe. this information pertains to probably all OBD2 model Civic CRV element as well. this is a common issue but most don't realize the code will represent any malfunction of the evaporative system
I had this code on my 2003 Honda CRV, but this would be good for a civic in those years. No leaks with a smoke check. The final fix was performing Honda Service Bulletin 08-016.
my 2002 CRV showed a P1457 code, I replaced new gas cap, canister, solenoid on engine bay, now engine light came back on with P1456 code, will I need to replace fuel pressure sensor and canister vent soleniod?
My 2004 Cr-V EX sputters when I try to start it, only after i fill my fuel tank, just like your description. After it finishes sputtering, it runs fine. But my check engine light doesn't come on. Could it be something else that won't produce an error code? Thanks for your videos and hard work. You've been very helpful to many people and we appreciate people like you, who help us learn.
I had the p1457 on Honda CR-V 2001 and i replace the purge valve and bypass solenoid valve honestly if you will buy them go get a Honda store they sell the original for the same price as autozone and other store but from dealer they are better cause it’s the similar as the car have !
I have a 1997 Honda CRV that expels lots of gas pressure when I remove the gas cap when refueling. This must mean the gas cap seal is good but is all that pressure bad for your fuel tank?
Hey nice video!!! Do you know what will cause high pressure gas fumes when I unscrew gas cap? It shows a P0453 - Evaporative emission (EVAP) pressure sensor high input Please help
Hello, I tried to replace the canister but I am having a hard time finding the bolts that hold it to the frame, it’s got some rectangular silver covers I can’t find a way around. Any thoughts on how I can work around that?
I have this code after driving off road. It looks like the vacuum chamber shaped like a little white plastic can has come lose. I crawled under to see where it connects to but can't identify where it goes.
I have a Honda Civic 2005, the check engine light came on and gave me that code, but then it went away. but I can smell the gas and I guess my headache.
Thought you were gonna show me how to change it. Now I have to watch more UA-cam commercials...thanks for that.
😂😂😂😂

So if I had a helper to turn the ignition on while I listened I could possible hear a click?

Can you blink? Also can you use a voltmeter to test for voltage rather than that screwdriver thing?

i have a 2002 crv and cant figure out how to remove the selenoid. have to drop the canister to replace it. pleasee help!!
Is this problem related with idle air control valve? I have three codes shot. One is this and o2 sensor no1(replaced 4 months ago) and idle problem.
Liked and sub'd...thanks for the concise evaluation process.

Does this also makes another code for 02 sensor
Anyone know the part number for this ?
I changed the canister and both valves around the canister... but the light still came on
Will a bad canister make a knock sound? Located near gas tank?
Not that I have seen
Good job 👍
Nice tip brother 👍
+Steve Rob thank you Steve!
My dad is working on a handa crv 2000, and this helps but he has no idea where it is located. can you help please?
Are u dad still working on your car?

You should have that checked out. Sounds unsafe.
But what if I dont have a bidirectional scan tool?
Then you can always guess or follow the manual tree chart
What if I have a 2000 Honda CRV ?
@Gcounty404 lmaooooo
i have the same code, the scaner show code p1457 evap leak canister area, that is driving me crazy,
Did the video give you any ideas?
