Beagle proof EVERYTHING. I still remember when Lucky was a puppy, he ate my mother's $1,000 hearing aid, and also would get into her closet and grab her full length dressing gown and go running outside with it like it was Princess Diana's wedding dress! It was hilarious for the rest of us, but my mother was NOT amused 😆.
Mine ate my dad's 110,000 rupee sunglasses. Approximately around 1450 dollars. My dad was so so mad. The next day he was cuddling the little monster. It's impossible to be mad at them, huh? You just love those hypnotizing eyes and the way they make all those tiny sounds. Poor guy didn't even know why dad was ignoring him and followed him around until he picked him up.

@bekind321 it's definitely a phase but will not end if you don't teach them it's not ok. I show my puppy his toys & tell him no loud & abruptly when he has something he shouldn't have in his mouth (he's out of the phase now). It's a constant thing in puppyhood when they are teething.

When we got our beagle / Weiner dog mix puppy from the shelter she was already potty trained, but she did tear up the carpet on the stairs and i got so mad at her, she has never made that mistake again! She Loves our bed, and loves table scraps, but she does not eat chocolate or sugar too much, made a small piece of non-chocolate as a snack 1 time a week
Daisy is our Doxle, we call her our tall Weiner dog because of her coloring and LOOOOONG body (no white at all, just browns and blacks), but the rest of her is ALL beagle!

Crate training is a must for beagles.
They can cost you a fortune in damages if left on their own in the house. They can also injure themselves on anything they find when your not there.
My beagle Hershel doesn’t mind us putting him in the crate when we head out to places he can’t go for couple of hours. As long as he know there is peanut butter in a king for him before you head out.
Just like real human babies😄! How cute❤
The best part about training a beagle is their food motivation. We started training with treats and realized a small piece of kibble was all they needed. I could stand at the end of our hallway with both of them in a sit-stay and they would wait until called just to get that little bit of kibble. But they also chewed through our dog sitter’s jacket because she left treats in the pocket.

Primarily - spend time with them. Give them very simple commands, either with a warm voice tone and treat or an admonishing tone and tap on the nose.
''Table scraps'' are perfectly fine if it is simple, non-processed food such as steak bits, chicken bits, squash - without butter, spices, oil, or sauces. Just be sure to train the beagle first , to sit and wait without begging.
They can sleep in a bed without issue, but also familiarize them with having their own little bed. A bassinet is ideal for this because it can be taken on trips and serves as a familiar spot when going to unfamiliar places.
Do Not leave a beagle alone for long periods. They are wired for pack life and will easily become depressed. If you can't be home or bring a beagle to work/school, and no one else is available to spend time with the beagle, choose a breed that is happier with solitary time. Exception to this is having a real pack of dogs for your beagle to be home with, if you dare.

Good luck! They are little terrors. But once you train them, they are amazing.
Best of luck. Get loads of those chewy toys to keep him occupied and stuff to keep them warm in case u live in cold area. Don't allow them to chew on your finger. Not in any situation.
And beware. They'll like chain your hearts to them and make themselves the centre of your world as soon as you hold them.
It's a big decision. I regret being hasty about it but it's an entire life depending on you.
You know there's no one other than you looking out for them. You know there's nothing that they'll love more than you. It's a roller coaster of emotions that can't be put in words.

Hi Beagle care, could i ask you something? My female Beagle just done her first heat (her heat ended less than 21 days and she's on her diestrus cycle since 2 weeks ago) and suddenly she is so calming down. I checked her health status (her appetite, poo, pee, gum, vulva, belly, etc.) all is good, but she no longer eager to play as crazy as she used to be. She even so calm when she meets her dogs friends. Is this a normal for female Beagles to become so calm down after estrus? Is this only a temporary because of the progesterone thingy? I love how she used to be and i really miss her mischievious naughty self! 😭 She's not so playful anymore even when i teased her! She becomes like a cat which only silently watching, sleeping and snuggling all the time now 😭
It’s normal! It means there maturing. It’s good for them to mature, so don’t be worried.
But if you are concerned, check with your vet!
Hey actually I am going to have a beagle puppy in my house very soon so I wanted to know that during his puppy age which is for around 2 years I guess. Should we take them on everyday walks or weekly walks because some say that when a dog is in his puppy ages frequent walk should not be done so that his skeletal system grows properly

When we got our Sonia, we were told that 1 walk should be short, around 10 minutes or so. But now she is around 1 year and we take her for a walks up to 30 minutes. (2 longer walks up to 20-30 minutes and 1- 2 short ones (5-10 minutes)
There are different opinions though, so you can also check how your beagle will adopt. When they are really tiny meaning 2 months, the only "walks" were in our back yard. She got bigger and more energetic, than we had to take here for walks

I don't walk my beagle & everyday he goes zooming thru my house trying to run off his extra energy. Since the weather is getting better Im hoping to start walking him. I think walking will help. My beagle is 7 months & he has alot of energy.

I have a question do the beagle and pocket beagle have the same temperament.
I was looking for a smaller beagle, after my first beagle (over 15) developed oral cancer and I lost him. He was 15 inches. I found my new best friend, and she's 13 inches.Her temperment is wonderful. You can find breeders that breed the smaller size beagle. I never found a pocket beagle. The only temperment difference I had between the two was one was a male , my Bella is a female. My breeder told me if I wanted to wait longer for another litter, sometimes you will get a puppy that will be under 13 inches, as an adult. I couldn't wait so Bella is my new baby. I did alot more research on breeders, to find one the wasn't just breeding for only the money. LIKE PUPPY MILLS DO. My breeder was very careful when placing all his puppies. A breeder is the most important connection, you have when looking for a puppy or dog. MIne told me when I asked about the cost of his puppies, that he didn't sell puppies to owners who were only looking to find a cheap or cheaper puppy. I told him I wasn't looking for a beagle, to hunt. I only wan't a puppy as a pet/ companion. He is well known in MIch. to hunters, (he is an avid hunter). His own dogs have recieved many awards. With his help a was showed puppies with traits more suitable for what I wanted. I know this is a very long reply too you. But I hope it helped.

My 6 month old naughty is very active but since 2-3 days he is sleeping almost all day he even refused to eat breakfast today. Is it bcz of weather change? Or is it a cause to worry? I will be Glad if you help me out with this
Almost all puppies at age 6-8 months will refused to eat breakfast before walking or exercizing. This maybe because their stomatch already switched from demanding three times of food a day to twice time of food a day. My female Beagle also refused to eat her breakfast when she was 6 or 7 months old. Some of my Beagle friends (Akita, Golden and Poodle) also refused their breakfast nearly on the same age. So we usually walked them first in the morning, let them play, then they will eat their breakfast at 10 or 11 a.m. If his poo and pee are good and still actively playing like he used to be, then no needs to worry 🤗

I need tips on how to get my beagle puppy to stop biting. She isn't a mean puppy and is usually very sweet, but she is stubborn and likes to get her way and when she doesn't she tends to bite to let you know she is unhappy with you. I have heard from other beagle owners that this is common and she should outgrow it, but in the meantime if there are any tips anybody has to get her to stop biting please feel free to share! I'm really just hoping she grows out of this phase soon!
I really feel u. I got my beagle at 3 months old and I was full of scratches and was bitten once. U need to train her to behave and do not give in to whatever she wants.. If she bit u, isolate her and don't give her attention. Do not give in regardless of the howling and barking otherwise she will continue that behaviour growing up. Mine now is 5 months old. Not fully trained but she knows how to behave.
Also, beagle always crave for attention and food.. I used these two to introduce discipline. I was told that not all beagles can outgrow that behaviour..

@@agentktulu, I know that. I'm not talking about play biting. I'm talking about the kind of bite that is meant to display dominance over humans, which my vet told me we have to teach her not to do. She is slowly learning, but I'm looking for tips on how to get her to learn a little faster.
