    Wow!
    I had the exact same case for my first PC.
    386sx 16 that I upgraded to a 386DX40.
    So many memories.

    Back in the day, I saw Paradise/WD, Trident, Cirrus, I'd heard of Tseng, but never came across Realtek (or Oak) in graphics cards... And I remember getting hold of some 90C31 Windows Accelerator cards very cheap, our team was doing upgrades of assorted 386, 386sx and 486 systems to a standard of 486DX2, 4MB RAM, larger HDD and I spotted a computer fair trader with a significant surplus stock.
    Oh boy, I wish I'd bought a dozen or 2 and laid them down to mature, they sell for silly money now.
    Thing was, I had to explain to my superior why they would be such a great upgrade, key point being that ANY card with full (not just hardware cursor) acceleration avoided the full screen ripple scrolling from cards that had to use the CPU and ISA bus to scroll

      Thanks for your comment! Yes, who would predict all this systems would get that pricey nowadays. Maybe some could predict this, wish I could as you said. I remember having systems definitely worth keeping throughout my life. Cheers!

    always good stuff sir! i just took apart a 2012 macbook pro for the first time today to re apply new thermal paste.....went well so i'm happy with the result. cinebench R23 temps never got above 85c with an intel cpu....that's a win in my book!

      Hey Michael thanks again! That's advanced stuff my friend nice accomplishment! Besides loving electronics and machines, it's very satisfying fixing or simply do the maintenance of your own stuff and knowing you did the right job. I can not count the times I have been deceived, certainly PC technicians and car mechanics are the worse in the field so that's also a big part I recommend doing your own maintenance. Cheers!

    For the retrobright I used the dye hair cream that is basically creamy oxigenated water. I just paint it basically on and let on the sun then each 3 hours I paint again and and after 3 more hourse I washed the plastic. It work with my hp vectra way better than I expected.

    • @restoredwards
      @restoredwards  Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks for your comment! Yes, I did the same with hair cream, but here is winter as you saw in the video and there is no sun, so I went with the UV light and it works perfectly if you are patient.

      @@AlejandroRodolfoMendez It would have been straight forward faster, I also could have waited till summer as well but I had no patience, so I tested the UV. I guess if I get stronger ligts it will be faster as well.

    You can fix those brittle plastic and paste plastic parts using super glue + sodium bicarbonate. It makes a stronger bond.

    • @restoredwards
      @restoredwards  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for your comment! I know, but it was too brittle and it would break in other place anyways, so I don't thik is worth it and I have spare fronts as well as spare floppys. Cheers!

    Omg ! Nittemare-3D ! Used to have a pirate CD in the 1990's with that game in the 90's... Tried to play it few months ago on a 486 - and it's absolutely crap even in comparrison to Corridor-7 or Depth Dwellers ! )

    As you speculated, 60 MHz is not the right speed for a 386 processor. It more likely runs at 33 or 40 MHz.

    • @restoredwards
      @restoredwards  Рік тому +1

      Hey thanks for your comment! Yes indeed is a 40 MHz processor. I'll figure out the turbo multiplier and change the numbers in the display respectively. Could you give me an advice of what would be a correct low multiplier for turbo off?

    Podes explicar cómo haces el retrobright líquido ya que solo lo hice con crema

    • @restoredwards

      Gracias por el comentario maestro! Sigo probando pero funciono y si seguís dejándolo creo que va a seguir blanqueando. Primero lo hice como había visto que le funciono a varios con el agua oxigenada diluida en el agua para que sumergidos quede parejo el color. Pero lo deje una semana y hizo casi o nada y veía que tampoco hay una manera buena definitiva ya que incluye el sol. Use el gel a 30 vol. por que de mas vol. y liquido no pude conseguir por ahora. Lo deje una semana a 10 días pero use el gel pincelando todo cada 12 horas de corrido. Saludos.
