I spent a stunning day in the Brecon Beacons Wednesday, foggy in the valley's, yet above 500 m you got the full sun and clear blue sky without a single cloud all day. T shirt weather until descending back into the valley's. Moreover, a stunning clear cold sunset with crimson mauves and deep orange on the horizon. Beautiful!

Glencoe looks amazing Murray! Only climbed one of the mountains there but Bidean nam Bian is on the list for a day trip this year. There is always a bit of doubt at the bottom when the clouds are low but there is no better feeling than getting above it and getting a full cloud inversion. 2021 was a very generous year for cloud inversions. Hopefully this year will be as good or maybe better! ATB Gaz.
There are a couple of more conventional routes up Bidean from the car park. The first is to follow the path down to the bridge and up to the Lost Valley and then continue along the well marked path up to the bealach and go right. The second is to go right from the car park and follow the river to the next bridge then go steadily uphill on the path to the lochan beneath Stob Coire nan Lochan. The route then is an easy scramble up the north eastern spur of Stob Coire nan Lochan to the summit and then up the ridge joining it to Bidean. In the cloud be sure to check directions with a compass. Whichever route up you choose, I would always recommend descending eastwards to the bealach above the Lost Valley and then down to the Lost Valley.
Its an amazing place to hike Gaz - hope you have fun when you go - reckon it'll be a little whiter recently as opposed to our visit in November before the snows arrived. Hope you have great weather when you go to Glencoe. 2021 was indeed a fantastic year for the inversion :) I even squeezed in two more adventures with inversion before the year ended (stay tuned for the next two videos!! next weeks one is in the top 5 adventures I have ever had !! - its also another 90 minute video - you have been warned!!)....
