Matt is genuinely one of the nicest people in the world. Also you've made this game look good despite its flying sand boats, I'm going to have to try it now!
Just realized that I would absolutely love to watch RCE playing Ark:Survival Evolved. It’s so up your alley I don’t know why I haven’t thought of it before. Just imagine the BILF potential.
That's definitely what this game reminds me of for the crafting and taming aspect haha It's basically if Ark had different Arks for separate time periods
Daaaang, this game _looked_ like a lot of fun and I was seriously considering getting it for myself. But I looked at Steam reviews and learned the cold, hard truth that it wasn't developed at all, that the creator just took demo levels from pre-existing demo Unreal asset packs, glued them together, and called it a time travel survival game. It sounds like there's almost nothing that is his own work. Apparently (I can't verify, it's only testimonial) he's even resorted to deleting forum posts that call him out on it. It's heartbreaking, I was really thinking I would enjoy this game. Definitely recommend people check out the situation in the Steam reviews before putting their money down on it.
I'm so glad you said that because, as I was watching this and looking at the assets, HUD, and gameplay I found myself thinking "This feels a LOT like someone got a bunch of assets and found a reason to use them all in the same game. I wonder how much of this was custom made versus downloaded."
Thanks a lot for playing it, saved me quite some time. The dev advertised his game on 9gag less then a week ago, look for the game name and you'll find the post. Many people pointed out, something's fishy about it, like him making several games in less then 14 months for example. All of his other games are just asset flips put in a very poor way together. This one looks exactly like ark with prettier lights but worse animations (hard to believe something can have worse animations then ark). Even the way your character sits on the dino looks exactly the same.
I gave the demo a go. It was 25 gb lmao. And yeah its just random asset flips. The coding is super basic, like animals have no ai besides "wander around" and attacking you. I watched two dinos walk into each other for a solid 2 minutes.😂
As a biologist I’d like to mention that palm trees and grass and berries hadn’t evolved yet during dinosaur times. Flowering (and fruiting) plants evolved towards the end of the Dino times
I do want to say i appreciate a dev that knows their dinos. The fact that Basically nobody knows what a Utahraptor is is a disservice that Speilberg visited upon us. The Raptors in JP1 were Utahraptors. The tiny little things that ate the family at the beginning of JP2 were Velociraptors.
Pretty sure that the JP2 dinos at the start were Procompsognathus. Velociraptors were small, but they were still 5-7 feet in length. a compy was only about 3ft and hunted in medium to large packs
they should have it to where when you time travel you don't change location but the map itself is in different time periods. so if you stood on a hill and time traveled you should still be on that hill.
He simply purchased a bunch of assets to serve as base for the game. You can do that relatively cheaply, nowadays. Don't get me wrong. It's still a bunch of work and a worthwhile achievement to have put all those assets together in a functional product. But it's not as crazy insane as one might think either.
This is standard assets and the graphics are in engine so no work there either. The animations are pretty bad, The game seems confused about what it wants to be and the mechanics and menus are clunky as all hell. All in all looks like a mess and if I had to guess it will probably either take a decade to barely release a 1.0 or just get abandoned/released early and incomplete
@@Eryhnar The concept could be neat if done with a large team. Like, imagine if you're in year 1000 and your friends are in year 2000 and what you're building, doing and so on has an impact which could last for thousands of years.
