    You can get these used for less than $350, which is a tremendous bargain, especially when considered as a complement to eurorack. I have 4 rows of modular, and this would add so, so much for less than what the sequencer alone would cost in the rack.

    Hey mate, thanks for the video. I love my 2s and am having so much fun with it. Monster sequencer with all these modulation routes plus stacker cables (the only thing this synth lacks is splitter, but i wasnt expecting one for this price and so much fun on modular already) = endless fun. What would you guys add to it - i think a nice quant would be useful for this kind of modular beast. Great way to start building the rack. Also sound wise, dunno bout you, but Arthuria synths, brutes and Freak, complement so nicely with Korg, Sequential and Waldorf. they always cut through and find their respective place in the mix without much eq. I also rarely use dynamic processors on this one, its a shame to tame the beast. There is really nothing mini about this synth.

    • @audioreakt
      @audioreakt  4 роки тому

      Yeah stacker cable are helpful to cover the lack of splitter. I try to resist for now to don't buy modular module but who knows one day... Yeah it's really powerful, and the price is so low, same goes with the nicrofreak, if you think about it...

      I bought a modular last year, I spent a small fortune. Right now I'm in the process of selling all of it. When you are considering buying something, ask yourself: what problem will this piece of gear solve? In my case the modular didn't work out for what I had in mind, which was live performance. I learned an expensive lesson finding out that the live modular thing is not for me.

    Nice, thinking about buying it as my first hard instrument. I´m kinda thinking of buying a keystep along with it or a beatstep dunno which makes more sense. Beat is more important for me personally but u know playing with keys is also nice. Hard decision.
    How do you call the yellow/greenish duplication adapter patch cable at 29:43? Cant find it.
    Also are there different voice presets or can use different samples on this thing?
    Thanks in advance

    • @audioreakt
      @audioreakt  4 роки тому

      if you want a keyboard there is a version with a keyboard it's the Minibrute 2 (without the S), Basically the Minibrute 2s is the Minibrute 2 with the sequencer from the Beatstep instead of the key. The cable is from Tip Top audio, it's a stackable patch cable I guess. This is a mono synthesizer, so just one voice but you can kind of play paraphonic with the OSc2. You cannot import samples, and the only things you can save are sequencer pattern

    Hello, really enjoyed this!!
    Im really looking forward to buy this synth, but im having a hard time knowing if I will need any extra equipment to make it work. I don't have experience on audio...
    I have only a JBL Boombox speaker, with has an aux in minijack 3,5mm. I don't know if I can connect the minibrute directly to the speaker, or I need an adapter to transform the cable of the out of the minibrute to the 3,50mm.
    Also don't know if I need a mixer or something.
    As you see I'm really lost here and don't want to make an impulsive decision and then realize I need to spend more to make it sound. I will really appreciate your wisdom on this complex thing for a beginner, who want to start making alien noises and be happy.

    • @audioreakt
      @audioreakt  3 роки тому

      Yeah it's better to buy a soundcard before to buy any synth

  • @KiR_3d
    @KiR_3d 2 роки тому

    Hi! Nice review!
    Wow! I've didn't expected that it's so complex! I could say that "it's better than Neutron" if it has the same morphing waveform feature.
    Pitty that Arturia didn't included a WaveFolder block in this synth! It could be a *big* competitor to many other synths that are working in "Buchla territory". It's already almost there. OK, and just need one additional LPG to fully mimic the EastCoast. In terms of circuitry an LPG is almost nothing.
    Can the sliders' positions be recorded or they're only manual?

    • @audioreakt
      @audioreakt  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you, there is a folding function but even though is sound nice it could sound better compare to what other do. Slider are only manual but you can use the step sequencer and patch bay to automate them

    • @GeorgeLocke

    Very nice tutorial. I have 2 questions:
    - which effect chain (rack) do you use in the connected Ableton track?
    - is it possible to achieve all these sounds also with VST synths (like Pigments, Phase Plant, etc.) ? Or would it make more sense to directly use such a hardware synth?

      @GeorgeLocke 2 роки тому

      Recreating the sound is very possible. The main difficulty is always the sound of an analog filter. However, the main thing about hardware is the interface, the experience of working with the sliders and the patch bay.

      Cool, use external instrument to send midi to it and receive audio. Because the connection is by usb it should appear in Live preference. If you want to record the audio , create a new audio track and as input use the output of the track where there is the external instrument . You can record before/after effect or after MIxer. Choose the one you prefer (I usually record on pre FX this way I can always edit my FX later on). If you use the internal seq of minibrute, you might have some delay, I've just record a video about how to sync your hardware but it won't be out before August at least. Send me a email right now to remind me and tomorrow I will send you the video ( I am not at the studio today and I will forgot otherwise)

    • @audioreakt

      You can use it for whatever but I rather use it for bass/lead than just drums, but with the modular patch combine with the sequencer you can create indeed drums pattern. To be honest it's cool in term of sound design but never really fit my track or also it will take longer to do it on the minibrute than on a drum machine...

If you want to be able to have all your hardware track in ableton sperately, you need a soundcard with 8 input at least, after it depend on your budget obviously but usually the more you paid the better the quality of the AD/DA converter.. top brand are UAD and RME, MOTU is not bad too and then after budget-friendly you have the scarlet 18i20 or the arturia audiofuse 8...Might be good to check the soundcard ableton recomend for their CV control compabilty as well, it might be interesting..

      Yeah that cool, I didn't show drum but it's true that good too and with the sequencer you got your rhythm straight away !

      Cool sound options, but "thin" sounding compared to Arturia. Somehow it fits into psy-trance and industrial sequencer sound - cold sounds. Even volcas have better/weightier basic sound! But it shines with complex patches, fm, etc. I think filter is its weak point. I think crave has more robust basic sounds because of moog type filter. Also its oscs do drift quite a bit, so no-no for live performance

      How do you sync the TR8 with Minibrute2s using the Midi? I have midi out on my TR8 going into the midi in of the Minibrute 2S and the brute wont play. Is there a setting in the Minibrute2s that I need to do to trigger it? please help. thanks

      @MapaiiMusic 3 роки тому

      @@Yourmom-ck7ss You have to select the Sync to Midi to the Minibrute2s follows the midi from TR8, cous by default the Minibrute2s starts with the Sync on INT (internal)

      Only improvement I’d make to this video is putting a beat under the synth for the last minute or so, I was dying to hear the patch in action! Otherwise great content.

    It is a shame you did the whole demo with that ugly reverb!! It would sound much more like a modular synth: JUst a thought!
