Thanks for this amazing tutorial. I've recently gotten myself a Minibrute 2S and this video just opened a whole new world of opportunities on how to use it
It would be great to see a follow up video that approached the integration by recording sequences from the 2s (vs sampling sounds). I managed to work through most of the kinks, but some of them were not obvious. Would also throw out Oscillator Sink as another channel that has wonderful videos for getting a lot out of this synth.
I really love my 2s and think it’s a great intro to analog. It’s got a great sound and the sequencer is insanely over powered. Loopop did a couple of videos on it that are definitely worth watching.
I bought a 2s 1 week ago...had a few hware snths this is my fav...love it to bits...it also has a great physical design...its a quality synthn and id say its cheap...
Hi! Great video! Could you tell me if you can use the Keystèp or other keyboard to insert notes (step rec or realtime rec) into 2S sequencer? Thanks a lot!
Hello, really enjoyed this!! Im really looking forward to buy this synth, but im having a hard time knowing if I will need any extra equipment to make it work. I don't have experience on audio... I have only a JBL Boombox speaker, with has an aux in minijack 3,5mm. I don't know if I can connect the minibrute directly to the speaker, or I need an adapter to transform the cable of the out of the minibrute to the 3,50mm. Also don't know if I need a mixer or something. As you see I'm really lost here and don't want to make an impulsive decision and then realize I need to spend more to make it sound. I will really appreciate your wisdom on this complex thing for a beginner, who want to start making alien noises and be happy.
Hi Jeff. I've got a Roland Juno Stage which has a good sound bank, but little options to tweak each of those sounds. I'm looking for ways to be able to tweak the sounds of my Juno Stage much more, preferable with physical knobs. Is that possible with an external machine such as the Minibrute 2S, that you know of? Or any other way? Thanks
Hi Jef, thank you for putting these videos together. I honestly don't know how you are able to master all of these tools so quickly but am so grateful that you do because I would never have the time (or skill, or knowledge, etc) to do it without a lot of help! Quick question - I've been using your 'real synth' videos to understand how to use Massive X. I'm new to synths and they are mindbogglingly complicated. Generally speaking, anything you do on, as an example, an Arturia unit, you can emulate with Massive X, right? So, if I want to learn, I can do it with just one tool? I just want to learn ONE to get started, and then maybe branch out for different reasons.
Absolutely! Massive X is one of my fave synths right now, it’s so easy to get gearlust for the next best thing, and my videos jump from one to the next, but I need to encourage people to master what they have first! Maybe a massive x basics video is in order, it’s super complex, but the basics are all there. I like it more than the reception it hit when it first came out. Fire away if you have any questions!
Jef Gibbons Earlier you made a video on synthesizer basics using actual hardware - what would be amazing is if you replicated that by using Massive X with maybe some other bells and whistles thrown in. (Selfishly I’ve chosen Massive X because that’s the one I’m using to learn lol!).
Hi Jef, great video again. I have a question about your 4k Samsung TV setup, still fine with it? I did exactly the same with a 55 Q80R and the same resolution as you explained earlier, but I notice I’m getting headache from it after a while so now and then. What is your distance from eyes to the screen? Thanks for your time.
You should probably check with your eye doc. Measure how far it is from your eyeballs to the screen how you actually work at your computer, then have the optometrist check if your vision is good with the glasses you use (or with none, as applicable). Once I got computer glasses optimized for how I use the computer, my eyes got a LOT happier. NOTE I am not an optometrist and don't have any stock in eyeglasses companies.
Enjoyed the video as always Jef but UA-cam's constant abrupt interruptions with adverts for the same products is getting worse. I suppose they want to make life difficult so that one pays for the ad free service :-( Not your fault I know!
I can turn off the mid vid ads, I haven’t figured out if they help me much at all... but it’s the main way we make a small amount of money for these vids. Thanks for watching Paul!
@@jefgibbons It would be nice if you found out if it will affect your income too much. It is the mid vid ads that are the most annoying when watching videos on UA-cam. Just to be clear: I do understand you need an income (and you deserve that), but if those mid ads don't mean a lot less income it would be nice of you drop them on the short videos of yours. And now to the important stuff: Amazing track in this video... really enjoyed it! You have a lot of talent as a composer and a good ear for sound design! Does it take a long time to program a patch using the cook book?
@@jefgibbons I didn't make the connection Jef. If these help your income and support your ability to make these tuts I'm more than happy to persevere :-)
Thanks so much Will, appreciate what you said... making patches is really quick... and you feel like a mad scientist with the cables... imagine how much fun the huge modular rigs would be! (And time consuming...)
Jef Gibbons I have been scouring around looking at various options to which there are many. I also experimented yesterday with utilizing MassiveX in a constrained manner. Which also works. I really would like to get a Formanta Polivoks with the midi add on. Thanks for the response! Keep making the awesome videos! I have frequented them many times learning Maschine!
Right now the synth is a nice “payment” and then I get to keep the vid on my channel. Anyone that wanted to pay actual money wants it on their own channel, which doesn’t help me as much in the long run! Thanks for the comments!
A person can endlessly look at 3 things: at fire, at how water flows, and at how Jef working with Maschine! Brilliant as always!!
Ha! Much appreciated my friend!
Thanks for this amazing tutorial. I've recently gotten myself a Minibrute 2S and this video just opened a whole new world of opportunities on how to use it
Nice watch! Thanks for going over these two together. Considering a version of each.
Whoa crossing of the streams when Blezz is mentioned. He's a funny dude with good content. Highly recommend.
MM NICE TRACK MATE - I LIKE THAT...small letters shall prevail!
oh my god how did I never think to put a tuner on the cable 🤯
Thank you. A very motivating video to get started with MB2S
excelente Trabajo!!! 👍
Great video! I hadn’t thought about combining these that way. Play time tonight!
This thing sounds great! The cookbook is a nice touch.
I agree! I just wish the cookbook was bigger... or maybe an online repository of patch suggestions?
Really loving this track, amazing job on this Jef!
Thanks Bryce!

I can definitely recommend Oscillator Sink also, ha has a fantastic understanding of the MB2s.
@@FUNKINETIK Absolutely, he takes the 2s to the outer limits
@@TheBiggerNoise his ‘Let’s Build a . . . ‘ series of vids are sooo good, I’ve learnt a lot from him. His soothing voice helps too.
Another song for your album - yay!
Good call my friend!
My man. So good. Hahaha it's Cray that i have a Maschine mk3 and I'm picking up a minibrute 2s in a couple weeks. Gimme more! - r.
This is the synth that opened Pandora's Box for me.
Great video! The synth for me is dark area, but now is a little bit more clear :D Thanks Jef

Could you tell me if you could record on step and realtime recording on the 2S using the midi keyboard to insert notes?
Thanks a lot!
So cool! Nice shirt! 😉👋

Your video set up looks great. Do you have a link where you over that?

do you want to add a bit more reverb & delay
Where can I get that shirt tho
Great now I have to buy an analogue synth lol
They do have cheaper options as well... and then there’s Craigslist too! I started with a JX3P and kept going from there!
