HANDS-ON MEFOTO GLOBETROTTER AIR - This new line of MEFOTO Tripods offers a very packable and lightweight tripod but at what cost? Is this the perfect travel tripod at 3.2 lbs and 12" packable AND it provides a monopod/selfie stick along with a bluetooth remote. Would you use or are they just gimmicks?
Overall I am impressed with this small travel tripod that is a lightweight tripod and a packable tripod but you do make some sacrifices to get this small.

I noticed the Peak Design thingies on the camera, but I couldn't see the plate you were using. Does the Peak Design Capture clip fit onto this tripod?
The center column selfie telescopic mechanism is impossible to lock. I have been struggling with the new design...my center column rocks right and left
I want one! Got a Velbon (UT series) atm which has the same locking mechanism. Which I just love. Been looking for a replacement for some time. The Velbon is good but could be more stable!!. But I love that locking mechanism so much that it is an absolute must have for me. (Or rather the much faster speed that it takes to set it up and pack it down. IMHO its alot faster after you have done it a number of times).
Up until now I havent found any. They all had clamps or screwing locks. So when this makes its way over here to Europe I ll probably be one of the first to buy.
Unless of cause you decide to let me win the competition ;)
I have tried the mefoto air tripod.. Its a strong and sturdy tripod. Very compact too. I only had one gripe with it. And that was when you're in position and doing small adjustments to the legs. It can get a little annoying. Its great and quick if you were to be fully open or closed. But anything in the middle becomes a bit frustrating to work with. I think this is the best tripod you can get that has this much range from closed to open.
Steve has used it more than me - I will ask him to share some thoughts on middle adjustments when he does the full write-up. Thanks!
Is it recommended for Nikon D850 with 24-70 lens ?
how to shot a portrait in front of a sunset( the sun in the background)?
WOW, THAT IS SURELY NEEDED BY A LOT OF PHOTOGRAPHERS, INCLUDING MYSELF.
Looks like a great tripod and yes the height sacrifice is something we taller people have to deal with for the great portability trade-off. I bought there RoadTrip model and took it to Thailand and it worked wonderfully jungle trekking and tucked nicely in the side of my MindShift Gear pack, so I am sold on their tripods as very well built quality gear.
Nice - I am very happy with their tripods too- certainly some sacrfices to be made when you want to go this small but it is still a sturdy tripod.
Mefoto makes excellent tripods. Good to see you and Steve. Is Steve going to be on more videos?
As we travel more together it is likely!
I have been looking for a tripod with all these criteria, the closest I got was the Bonfoto. This is awesome. I LOVE this tripod. Been thru 3 already that went back. Wow, what a package, please pick me.
Wonderful tripods! Would love to win...Blessings my friends & Good Luck!
I like it but it’s just not high enough. I would get the original Globe Trotter as it almost goes up to 5’11” in hight.
I love these tripods, best for the price! Someone stole 2 of them in the last two years, so I haven't replaced them yet. ORANGE is my color!
Sorry about the thefts! That sucks!!! Orange is fun, I am partial to the green personally :)
That's cool wish I had one please
Done I Complete it
Is the plate a tool less one?
No.
I'm reading the ball head is not removable - Is this true?
Michael Burk I have the Roadtrip and yup, the head is not removable.
Did you happen to notice what tripod plate he was using in this video. I couldn't tell if it was the plate that came with the tripod, or a different one.
He actually was using a different one - this is arca swiss compatible so any arca swiss plate will work on this tripod.
He is using a different plate - the head is arca swiss compatible.
what we have to d0 for winning this
Just click the link -photorec.tv/giveaway/ it's all there.
This tripod looks like a toy for kinds. Sorry Mefoto but the last year globetrotter looked way better than this one.
But the Globetrotter you reference is larger and weighs more - though I too like the standard, non-air version better BUT if you want one of the smallest tripod options - this seems like a solid choice.
Of course you are completely right. I think the air tripods are technically great. I am only a bit disappointed about the design because i like them and i can not buy them ;-)
