    FYI the little screw-in 'Bolt' on the Bass side of the Trem Baseplate is the Intonation Tool for the Edge Zero tremolo. It also screws into the end of the Saddle and allows precise positioning once the saddlle screw is loosened. It's not a new thing and was present on the old ZR/ZR2 Tremolo. The Jiva X2 and Pia are both over-priced signature models but at least the Vai model has Stainless Frets... I own the previous 'flagship' signature S-Series , the Herman Li "eGen18" model. Fortunately, it didn't cost anywhere near what Ibanez are asking for this Jiva..

    Henning, you love animals. You must be a good person. I have 16 dogs and am a bad neighbor! About the guitar. I looks fabulous!
    As much as this sells for, you would think Ibanez would make the cavity covers fit better, and make them the same finish as the guitar. Nobody does that!

    With it being so thin, I wondered what they did with the trem block. I looked it up and that is one tiny ass trem block.
    Congrats to Andrew. The Jiva is a sexy looking guitar AND it's made from wood from a tree.
    I don't see it warranting the € 3.499 price tag, though. But hey, I don't know anything either.

    I was really interested in this guitar as I think it looks beautiful and I was keen to get my hands on a Sabre. I couldn't justify the money, I had bought a J Custom, and an E2 last year. Last week I bought a S1070 PBZ Premium. Made in Indonesia. Came with locking tuners, and stainless steel frets - two of the selling points over the Prestige for me. My local guys were setting it up so I figured if there were any issues out of the factory they would be onto it. Have spent a week with it. My usual daily is an ESP E2 SN2 but I put it away to get used to this. It's great, am starting to really love it. It is fast, light, sounds great with a variety of tones. Having said that I am yet to take it to practice and play it through my board and usual amp. It's not as good as my JCustom, nor my SN2, but it is already opening up new licks/runs/ideas, which was one of many things I loved about the SN2. I wanted a guitar that was little lighter, and easier to throw around at a gig, I've got a little protective of most of my other gutars. The S1070 is a working guitar, with a wide range of sounds, plus all the shredability you could need. After listening to this review i am glad i went with the Indo Premium and didn't bust a nut for the Jiva Ghost.
    Thanks so much for the honest review.

    I never understood the reasoning behind the price, models like the MM1 and the LB1 sell for so much cheaper, and have better specs (IMHO), so I don’t really see how this guitar is worth the 3500, I’d love to get a premium one tho

  • @stevekirkby6570
    @stevekirkby6570 6 місяців тому +2

    Just from the off I don't like it - too hot and buzzy whilst trying to get a clean sound. I'd have buyers remorse, especially at that price... I'd want something more versatile. I suppose it needs a good set up... but yea just too dirty fo get nice clean tones. Fine for dirty sounds, so a bit of a specialist axe. As Charles says below, sounds epic through the Engle. Only those readyto shred need apply.

    Had the opportunity to test a JIVA at MusicStore in Cologne and to be honest I feel like Ibanez has some serious struggles in their QC in the top price range. It is a sick piece of heavy metal guitar and fun to play but there were so many little things that shouldn't occur at this price range, like loose hardware or gaps in the binding on the headstock and so on. The fanboy I am I tested some other guitars from the Genesis and SA series and went home with a damned Squire Contemporary Tele instead because it was more fun than anything I tested that I had on my Ibanez Fanboi-List.

      I'm always happy if something like that occurs with a 1500+ guitar, because it's usually fixable in minutes and you can get a huge discount. I once got a RG652, so entry point Prestige for 1100 instead of 1500 because the paintjob wasn't perfect and the nut needed to be filed down a bit. I don't care for the paintjob and filing the nut was done in 2 minutes. Also got my S6570-SK for 1750 instaead of 2100 and I can't even remember what the issue was. Probably some fret sprout.

  • @mixodorians12
    @mixodorians12 6 місяців тому

    Much prefer to be able to feed some more string into the trem,with a bit of excess at the headstock (the strings usually break at the bridge) than have a locking nut. Locking nuts with ball ends are just expensive. A low pro edge, where you cut the ball ends off, and where you can just feed some more string has saved me a fortune over the years, where as harley benton fusion pro, with locking nuts and ball ends eats strings for breakfast.

    Idk…the guitar certaintly looks great but the pickups are so hot that you cant get any decent clean sounds out of it which makes the guitar almost useless to none metal players imo. But metal players mostly use the bridge pickups so the h-s-h configuration makes no sense to me either. Imo you can get better Ibanez guitars for the same money.

    I have an S671 from Ibanes, similar shape, no trem, with locking tuners aaand they are kinda heavy and the guitar does tend to dive a bit.
    Which is not surprising with the body being so thin and light. So maybe it's not necessary bad that they've decided to use regular tuners.
    Then again, fast string changes and a floyd.... i dunno, is that even possible? (never owned one, so i'm genuinely clueless and intimidated by that load of metal parts and springs and stuff in floyds)
    Another kinda funny thing - mine is not "prestige" (and is about 3 times cheaper), but it's cavity cover does have a nice bevel :D.

    Hi, I also would like to have locking tuners, but have found on the internet a trick that its usefull for me and I use it on my Ibanez with floating brigde. The thrick is to put the string the other way around, so the string balls are in the headstock, then on the brindge you do have a string lockin mechanism, cut the string to desire length, pass the string and lock it on the bridge, then you can tune the guitar, hope it makes sense. I like the way it looks also on the headstock. Kind of unique looking, just keep it a secret so it does not go mainstream!!!

  • @chocolatecookie8571
    @chocolatecookie8571 6 місяців тому +2

    The price, hahahahaha.
    Locking tuners are overhyped. No need for them. They can also add more weight to the headstock which would create a diving neck, as this is the case already with this S-style guitar.
    4:12 correct that little carve has no function at all and still manufacturers keep making guitars that way.
    Tuning with a Floyd is actually very convinient because you can finetune it, which is harder to do without the finetuners.
    Talking about ergonomics if I would have made me a custom guitar I would first make a mold of my front where the guitar leans against my body. Then the back of the guitar must would fit perfectly for my body shape. That is ergonomics.
    17:10 looks like a gathering in a mental hospital 🤣😆
