Salto drops are scary. I'm starting to feel better about them as I work on them.

Wow thanks for the tutorial! I've been doing it on a hammock for months, my favourite kind of drops, but obviously it's a wee different on double silks! Love your vids xoxo

Do you know of a different way to wrap for this drop? I'm really having trouble regaining the fabrics after the first flip, the second one always goes fine, but I just can't seem to get the first one down. I had a friend tell me it might be because I have a very flexible straddle and so my legs start to slip out of the eggbeaters, but it's still pretty scary. Any tips or information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hey Jill! Do you have any tips on "slowing" or having more control with drops? Specifically drops when you have to let go of the fabrics with your hands and then catch the fabrics for the landing. I seem to always drop very fast. How do I slow my drops down?

Great question! Think about trying to resist the pull/direction that the drop is taking you, hold your body nice and tight and keep your core connected. Also, you must understand how the drop works, walk it down several times before going for it!

Something else to do to come out if you don't have the abs for the birds nest (like me) you can go into a standard climb, pull up your arms to release the fabric behind you, and finish climbing down. Make sure you are wearing tight clothing!

I have done this before as a single but have learnt it with only one cross behind the back. Can you explain why you need the double cross? Thanks.

+Jade Podger Thank you for watching! Great question. The double cross adds an extra amount of security.
It can be done with a single wrap as well but I found it slips when adding additional choreography prior to dropping the angel (not shown in this video). I always want to be more secure if I have the opportunity to!

Hi! Do you have to catch the silks halfway through the drop, or can can you just let go? Great tutorial :)

+r timimi Yes there are variations of not catching... although I suggest catching while learning! Thank you for watching :)

Thank you so much for posting this! I tried doing it tonight but all three of us found that the silk slipped off our butts on the first roll. Any ideas?

+mrfrederickmusic Thank you for watching. Yes that is a common mishap, I'm assuming you slid to the back of your knees? If so, you need to really focus on driving your legs over your head and keep your legs in a wide straddle while you flip forward. If you aren't aggressive enough while flipping forward the fabric will slip down below your tush. Another issue may be the wraps where too low on your legs, the higher the better!

Is there a reason that you cross the fabrics twice behind your back in the double crochet? I have done a single 360 drop with everything else the same and only one cross behind the back (though I do wrap the legs 3 times if there is enough tail); it seems like it might be easier to come out of that way without needing to do a bird's nest.

Hi Anna, Great question. The double cross adds an extra safety. Sometimes when it's only wrapped once it's likely the aerialist will slip/slide during the drop. The double cross prevents that.

double fallen. If i do the entire drop and i dont catch the silks in the first part, and i catch it only in the end what happens? is that dangerous?

    • @AERIALPHYSIQUE

Thank you for watching! Yes you can do that as well, it's just another variation of this. I find catching feels more secure for people who are new to learning this.

Based on what we were told in a lesson yesterday (And not through my actually managing to do it yet, so take with a pinch of salt), you need to keep your legs tensed out (We were warned not to relax during the first drop or we'd fall to knees).
