Isn't the whole point that Ahsoka is both young but also pretty similar to Anakin already, and is learning from Anakin? What do you expect to happen? "If there's one thing I've learned from you master, it's that following direct orders isn't always the best way to solve a problem", "You would do the same; you do the same all the time", "But sometimes you get carried away...", "My master would never forgive me for running and hiding in a situation like this", "Master Skywalker taught me never to let off when the tinnies are on the run"
The jedi council were trying to teach Anakin about these very issues by giving him a padawan who demonstrates them to him, but the problem is that he didn't learn, and the pair of them become twice the trouble. I think Yoda even says as much.
But furthermore, I don't think Ahsoka is really in the wrong for most of the later ones. Obi-Wan telling her "right now, the people on Coruscant need us" is hardly true; he already knows that the CIS have captured the chancellor, and that the reason they are going to Coruscant is to rescue the chancellor, not to save the people of Coruscant. Ahsoka is trying to say that the jedi aren't serving the people anymore; rather, they are at the whim of the senate, and the chancellor himself. "No; the chancellor needs you."
When she says to Maul "with your help, the jedi can stop Sidious before it's too late", she doesn't know the full picture, but is she wrong? It's almost exactly what Maul offers to her moments later; "..but together, you and I can.". She can't know exactly what Maul is going to offer as a solution, but she pretty much hit the nail on the head. Maul is just angry that the jedi (and Ahsoka) are blind to what's happening, but Ahsoka is literally asking for Maul's help with this; remember, the dark side is clouding everything, so no shit Maul is able to see clearly while she and the jedi can't. She's being way more cooperative than anyone else at this moment.
When she asks what Mace means when he says "that depends on the chancellor", that's a totally fair question. She just learned several crucial facts about Sidious, and his supposed new apprentice, even though she might not believe it all herself. Mace is being pretty disrespectful to someone who just captured a former sith lord and is still trying to help the jedi council despite what they did to her, and his inability and unwillingness to cooperate with Ahsoka might have just cost him his life.
I could rant about every single clip for ages, but long story short, I don't have any issues with a child soldier sometimes making mistakes, or with a student copying the traits of their teacher. And more often than not, I sympathise more with Ahsoka than with the others.

    • @imyouralibi6208
      @imyouralibi6208  Рік тому +18

A lot of this sounds like headcanon. There's an abundance of evidence showing that Ahsoka doesn't learn from Anakin. Don't believe me? My sister has a whole series titled "Ahsoka's Growth" where, in addition to showing the character doesn't undergo any sort of growth, she clearly establishes the fact that Ahsoka *does not* learn from Anakin.
You really think the citizens of Coruscant were perfectly safe?? You have got to be kidding. And no, the Chancellor had not been kidnapped at that point. Shaak Ti was still fighting Grievous at the time; Obi-Wan even said as much.
Yeah, Ahsoka offered Maul help and then immediately threw a hissy fit when he threatened Anakin, which was utterly stupid because she knew full well that Anakin was in no immediate danger from Maul, but she happily threw away a chance to beat Sidious anyway. Goes to show that she didn't learn the "don't lose a thousand lives to save one" lesson that Aayla tried to teach her back in Season 1 🙄
Furthermore, she doesn't even pass on the information Maul told her to the Council, so really she was just enabling Sidious to enact Order 66. Yeah, she's a real hero, isn't she?
Mace owed her nothing. Maul was never a priority for them. And Mandalore was a neutral planet; but Ahsoka thought it would be cool to break 100-year-old peace treaties so she could help put a terrorist in power. Real classy. And Ahsoka was very much being the disrespectful one. She kept insisting she was acting as a citizen, but somehow thought she was entitled to sensitive info?? Yeah, right.

    • @stanleydodds9
      @stanleydodds9 Рік тому +10

@@imyouralibi6208 Maybe I'm not understanding what we both mean by "learning from Anakin". I'm saying that she learns the wrong lessons from Anakin, and it actively works against what she should be learning; they reinforce each other's bad habits, and that's why they don't grow and improve in the ways that they should. And I thought that was the point.
The second thing, I never said the people on Coruscant were safe, I'm saying that despite the attack on Coruscant (and the problems on Mandalore) the only thing Anakin, Obi-Wan, and the council seem to care about is whether the chancellor is safe. Let's go through the scene:
"No it's Coruscant. Grevious has attacked the capitol."
      "What about the Chancellor?"
"Shaak Ti has been sent to protect him..."
(clearly Anakin's concern is the chancellor)
"Not to worry. Our fleet can be there within the hour."
Tell me, in that conversation, do the Jedi care about the people on Coruscant, or the Chancellor?
Ahsoka doesn't think they care about the people, and neither do I:
"I can see that as usual you're playing politics..."
Yet Obi-Wan's retort is that "Right now, the people on Coruscant need us". They probably do, but that certainly wasn't what they were concerned with a few seconds ago, and it's not what they end up going to Coruscant for either, suprise suprise.
So Ahsoka says "No. the Chancellor needs you", because that's the only thing they were worried about a second ago.
Next thing, I know she didn't learn that lesson from Aayla, because she learned tje opposite from Anakin; she became attached to people in the same way that Anakin is overly attached to people. Anakin betrays everyone and everything to try to save one person, the exact opposite of Aayla's lesson. And Ahsoka can't see past her attachment to Anakin to do what needs to be done to stop Sidious. Again that was my first point; she learns the wrong lessons because her master is Anakin.
Next thing, when did I say she's the hero? Nobody's the hero, everyone's flaws prevent anyone from stopping Sidious. I simply said that she's not in the wrong for asking about Mace's comment on the chancellor; she is allowed to ask that, and it's a good question, because if Mace answered, then she might be able to connect the dots and realise that Palpatine is Sidious. But Mace doesn't want to tell her anything, and she understands. I think the combination of not being told that the council is suspicious of the chancellor, her not trusting the council, and her attachment to Anakin is what stops her from telling them what Maul said.
And I find it crazy that people think it would be best to leave Maul in charge of Mandalore. He just wanted to use Mandalore as a way to get to Kenobi and then Anakin. I don't even think Bo Katan had any bad intentions at that point; she seemed to want Mandalore to be free from being puppeted by Maul. And I would have thought that the jedi council would be interested in getting Maul because of his knowledge of the sith, and because of his numerous crimes up to that point, with the potential to cause much bigger problems.

      @imyouralibi6208  Рік тому +14

@@stanleydodds9 My bad. I misunderstood you.
Even so, Ahsoka still doesn't learn from Anakin given that her personality was already set from the moment she debuted.
It makes perfect sense for Anakin to be more worried about the Chancellor given how close they are, but that doesn't prove that Obi-Wan felt the same way. In fact, given Obi-Wan's personality, the opposite is more likely to be true. And Ahsoka's claim that they're playing politics *as usual* is absurd given no such thing was established before. Yes, the Season 5 finale tried to set things up that way but ultimately failed since the council was perfectly justified in expelling Ahsoka given how much evidence she had piled against herself and how uncooperative she was during her trial.
Again, a citizen is not entitled to sensitive info.
Obviously, it wouldn't be good to leave Maul in charge, but handing the reins over to a terrorist is no better. I wish we could've seen more of the people's perspective, but S5 treated the general population of Mandalore like a hive mind. Ultimately though, there were no indications that the people were unhappy under Maul's rule. Actually, I think the opposite was implied. But I can't say for certain without revisiting those episodes.

I understand the earlier seasons, she was the worst 💀💀💀 but in S7, she was right to put Mace and Kenobi in their place, the prequels show how hypocritical Jedi are, and now we see that. Mace told her he can't talk to her because she's not on the Council, yet Aayla isn't either, and he talks to her 💀💀💀 As for Kenobi, she was right to point out they play politics instead of HELPING people that aren't the Senate, or associated with the Senate, like Jedi claim they do.

Also, Obi-Wan wasn't playing politics. At that point, he couldn't have known that he and Anakin would be the ones sent to rescue Palpatine, given that when they received the summons to Coruscant, Palps hadn't even been captured yet and Shaak Ti was the one protecting him. It was an utterly ludicrous thing for Ahsoka to even suggest.

I'll quote Ahsoka here. "I understand, that as usual, you're playing politics, and this is why people lost faith in the Jedi, and I had too. Til I was reminded what the Order means to people that TRULY need us." Obi-Wan then says that the people of Coruscant need them, but that's not true. What would you do if you were a Jedi? In the case of protecting the Chancellor rather than the people, again, nothing definitive can be said. But out of the tens of thousands of Jedi around at the time, do you really think *no one* was deployed to protect the general population?? I highly doubt it. We know only three Jedi were protecting Palpatine, and that Anakin and Obi-Wan were the only ones sent to rescue him afterward. The funniest thing about this is that Obi-wan and Yoda purposely gave Anakin a Padawan that was basically his gender bender version, to teach him to mature, since usually the Jedi Knight/Master and the Padawan must have points of contradictory views and personalities, so that each one can learn from the other, but Anakin and Ashoka are basically the same person xD, before they were one, but they unstuck hahaha, a summary of the relationship between the two created what it would be more or less so.
Anakin : Ashoka, I love you, but if we get out of this alive, remind me to kill you.
Ashoka : I love you too Sky-Guy and as long as I don't lose a hand in battle or get a scar on my face from slipping in the shower, I can be satisfied.

In addition, it is NORMAL for teenagers to be bratty and self-centered. I especially didn't like how she treated Anakin coming back and she and Bo-Katan were really unlikable. Obi-Wan and Anakin initially turn her down which causes them to start acting up with Bo-Katan bringing up Satine's death. Ahsoka refutes all logical thinking and despite growing up on Coruscant and spending a lot of time there, says that the people of the planet don't need them the Chancellor does.
The planet being under attack kinda does mean the people need them and the potential of the Chancellor being killed or captured is a big deal, especially considering what happens which makes Ahsoka look like an idiot. And her saying she's not trying to be fair to Obi-Wan doesn't help.

These are the finer moments of TCW. Everytime Ahsoka gets dunked on was beautiful.
TCW is one of the worst things a media can be, a huge waste of potential. It's one thing if it was just outright bad, like the sequel trilogy, but to be so close to being good is the worst.
Most people blame Kathleen Kennedy and Disney for Star Wars being shit, which is still true, but Filoni and the like still drop the ball time and time again. TBoB assassinated Boba Fett's character; my man became Mandalore in the EU. The Kenobi series breaks the lore so damn hard, it hurts. The only good thing from Rebels was the final dual between Obi-Wan and Maul. Thrawn was completely wasted and reduced to a generic bad guy. Bad Batch.....well let's just say its bad and leave it at that. I didn't even bother with the Mandalorian because of the Grogu craze. The sequels already have enough people who teared it inside-out; look at Mauler and the like. You see how fucked Star Wars is?
Now everyone is talking about how Andor could save Star Wars, and I could care less. Expecting anything beyond mediocrity and dogshit out of Disney and Lucasfilm is blind fanboyism or naivite. Disney is creatively bankrupt, completely. The Expanded Universe, or Legends as it's called today, is the true canon.
People are so use to awful writing that insults the viewer and the lore that when mediocre writing is presented it is praised as excellent.
Nowadays people can't appreciate good writing. People just turn off their brains and consume the product, then get excited for the next product; perfect obedient consumers. Throwing shit at the wall isn't art. Then when the Medicare writing is criticized by people who appreciate and understand what hood writing is, the critics are called negative and toxic; people who can't enjoy things and the like.
I would write more in this, quite frankly, unnecessary tangent but I think I've made my point clear. I will part saying this, you have earned a sub and I hope your channel grows; you deserve it.

"to be so close to being good is the worst" So true! That's part of what bugs us the most about TCW. Every so often, there are genuinely good moments, and then it just gets immediately buried under all the other crap. And S7 was an opportunity to put the series into more capable hands than Filoni's and *actually* turn out a good product but it was completely wasted because Disney is a one-trick pony that banks entirely on crummy nostalgia-baiting.
I wouldn't be surprised if Filoni paved the way for Disney, since I see so much of the writing mistakes in TCW reflected in the sequels.
The Mandalorian is one of the few Disney Star Wars shows that I'd actually recommend to people, though BoBF completely undermined the S2 finale and crippled any potential for S3.
The idea that Andor could save Star Wars is absurd. The series is mostly mediocre.
"The Expanded Universe, or Legends as it's called today, is the true canon" Amen to that! 👏

@@imyouralibi6208 Yeah, even if Disney was to get someone else besides Filoni to do season 7 of TCW it would still be meh because Disney would just hire another inept writer, or a worse writer, to fill in.
As you said, Disney relies on that nastolgia to make up for their complete lack of creativity; I mean look at The Force Awakens, it's basically a watered-down version of A New Hope. If you need other examples just look at all the horrible live-action remakes they pumped out. Disney buys up intellectual property to milk it for all its worth because they have nothing to create. Being creative and taking chances takes too much time and hard work. Disney wants that money and that's it, and it will even cater to politics to get more money.
I like how BoBF completely sidelined Boba and focused on Mando for no reason. Like damn Mando already has a show, I wanna see Boba Fett.
All Disney had to do was make an accurate movie adaptation of the Thrawn Trilogy (Heir to the Empire). The hard work was already done for them. If the EU was respected it would've benefited the fans, Disney, and Star Wars as a whole. But knowing Disney, that adaptation would've been watered-down regardless.
Now I'm hearing talk of the next animated show called "Jedi Chronicles." I kinda want to watch it to see Dooku, but at the same time why bother? My cynicism for Star Wars has been boiling down to the acceptance of the fact that SW is just a corpse being flailed around by the greedy and boring.

I heard Boba Fett in BoBF wasn't even remotely the same character he was originally. He was essentially reduced to a yes man who just did whatever other people told him and proved to be utterly spineless. I'm not a Boba Fett fan myself but I'm sure a lot of Fett fans were miffed over such an insulting portrayal.
"All Disney had to do was make an accurate movie adaptation of the Thrawn Trilogy (Heir to the Empire). The hard work was already done for them" Exactly!! They literally had no excuse. By decanonizing Legends and only cherry-picking from it, they've done nothing but shoot themselves in the foot and lose out on a ton of money. The only explanation I can think of is that their ego wouldn't allow them pay respect to other people's work. It's disgusting.
"I kinda want to watch it to see Dooku, but at the same time why bother?" This is pretty much how I feel with every Star Wars project nowadays. I know it's going to be bad but my curiosity continually gets the better of me. I look forward to the day when I can move on from Star Wars. Whether or not that happens before Disney *finally* decides to stop beating a dead horse is yet to be seen.

Plo koon was a great influence for Ahsoka. İt would be much better ıf she started as "I will be a good padawan" , than slowly went to "He has no idea what he is doing" and gets sassier the more first season contenues. To the point where she straight up becames disrespectfull. Atleast before her chracter arc starts. Where its basically cames back to bite her. Which actually what happends in the latter parts of the show.

I disagree that Plo Koon was a good influence for Ahsoka. His character had so little presence in the series that he didn't really have any noticeable influence on her at all. She certainly seemed to have more respect for him than anyone else (makes me wonder why she wasn't Plo's padawan instead) but that doesn't really qualify as "influence" since he's not actually causing any sort of change in her general behavior.
Yeah, it's unfortunate that Ahsoka's character really lacks any sort of progression. What you're suggesting definitely sounds like a negative arc, which would've been interesting to see, assuming there would've been realistic consequences to her worsening behavior.
Hmm, honestly, the "I am too good for this" snobbish attitude is *exactly* the vibe I get from Ahsoka. Where would you say she learns that her disrespectful behavior was wrong? Because in Season 7, she's still pretty disrespectful. She was very rude to Obi-Wan, outright admitting that she wasn't trying to be fair to him. For Anakin, its his negative arc,his fall to the dark side. Where they put small hints and slowly making him more unhinged the more contenues. Thats way to overrated. I am saying this, because characters like Obiwan had similar arcs(suffered similarly). And we never saw them fall to the dark side. İts just weird. We also learned that Anakin(Vader) follows Palpatine because of desperation, not affection in Son arc. Which makes big chunk of Palpatines manuplation in other media pointless. Anakin had a vastly different upbringing from Obi-Wan, which caused him to be emotionally unstable, so that's why it made sense for Anakin to turn to the dark side but not Obi-Wan even though they both suffered through a lot.
And I wouldn't say Palpatine's manipulation was pointless. I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but if you're referring to the Shia LeBeouf clip, the scene I'm having him respond to is from S2E6: Weapons Factory.

I assume you believe that this video is proof that Ahsoka is not a Mary Sue. Why? Because she’s disobedient and annoys people, which are character flaws?
Some of these clips are antagonists, and annoying/disobeying an antagonist doesn’t count as a character flaw. Also, in context, many of these scenarios end with Ahsoka being easily forgiven despite showing no remorse for her behaviour. Again, that makes her character flaws meaningless.
Not to mention that Ahsoka appears in over 20 hours of content, but I was able to scrape together just 5 minutes of her being called out for her bad behaviour. Mostly just in the first seasons, after which her behaviour doesn’t change but rather the other characters’ reactions change.
That pretty clearly indicates a Mary Sue.
But thank you for the comment. It helps the algorithm.

@@PatoChu If a character flaw has no consequences, it's meaningless. Therefore the character is still, in essence, flawless. Literature Devil explains this in his video "Can Mary Sues Have Flaws". I suggest you check it out.

@@imyouralibi6208 no consequences? M8 did u even watch the clone wars??? Ahsoka quite literally got banned from the Jedi order, sure it wasnt her fault, but if she was a Mary Sue, this wouldve never ever happened

@@PatoChu "did u even watch the clone wars???" We have an entire reaction series to the show here on this channel. Coincidentally, we're currently uploading the S5 finale episodes.
As you pointed out, Ahsoka is framed as a victim throughout that arc. The narrative is completely supporting her atrocious behaviour there as well. That's not "consequences".
You're trying to argue about writing principles you clearly do not understand. Just stop.

Anakin lecturing someone about disregarding the rules?! Oh this is rich! I wasn't aware Ahsoka had a family, broke the Jedi code, openly used the Dark Side and commited war crimes.

Honestly, Anakin and Ahsoka's reasons for bending/breaking rules are *vastly* different. Anakin most often does it to help others:
      1. Breaking protocol to go search for and rescue Plo Koon or R2.
      2. Breaking the Jedi Code in his interrogation of Poggle in order to save the lives of Ahsoka, Barriss, and the clones in Brain Invaders.
      3. Using backdoor methods to get the Onderon rebels the equipment they need in order to successfully counter the Separatist forces.
Etcetera. While Ahsoka almost always breaks the rules for selfish reasons:
      1. Ignoring direct orders and getting thousands killed in Storm Over Ryloth because she arrogantly believed she could handle the Separatist reinforcements.
      2. Repeating the same mistake at the beginning of Holocron Heist and having to be dragged away kicking and screaming from the battlefield before she gets her men killed again (not to mention, afterward she explicitly admitted that the reason she ignored orders is because she was SO caught up in her OWN victory).
      3. Ignoring direct orders (again) and endangering an important mission in the Citadel arc for the sake of bragging rights (and brag she does, going on about how amazing she is and how she can totally handle herself and blah blah blah 🙄).
      And the list goes on.
Long story short, Anakin is a hero with a dark side. But Ahsoka is a genuinely awful person in every way imaginable. They are not the same.
