Why Is Anakin Acting Like Krell?! | Writers React to TCW S7E3
Alternative idea for the Garnac fight. Maybe Kalifa is the one to run after him and Ahsoka chases after her. Either to help her or try and stop her. We could then have it to where the two of them are just about even with him given how tired and hurt they both are. Then for Ahsoka's Dark Side moment, we could have it where Garnac has her pinned and starts to sadistically punch her in her wound over and over again. Ahsoka screams how in pain and rage then she uses those emotions to fling him away. Or alternatively we could have to where Kalifa is the one getting chocked out and Ahsoka has a brief flash back to O-Mer dying she either pushes him away or even have her start chocking him with the force. Just some idea's I thought of while listening to this.
She gaslights the droids into helping her, and gets them all destroyed.
I think George Lucas wanted an Avatar style show for himself. Because Filoni worked on Avatar as a story board artist. George made a mistake.
This course will proof to be interesting, really looking forward to it!
So are we! Lol
@@imyouralibi6208 There are some ideas, but I’m keeping them till S4 and 5
Ahsoka knowing Shriwook *could* make sense if she learned it from Plo Koon, who had to know it to communicate with his master Tyvokka. Do note that while Dave Filoni is known to not care about most of the EU, he has the cover picture of *The Stark Hyperspace War*, the story featuring Plo Koon and Tyvokka's relationship, framed on his wall. Still, even if that is true, it should have been explained in the show.
I like the fact that Obi Wan slays as many people as Anakin, but its evil only when Anakin does it.
The chip retcon ruined the clones. What once were soldiers bred to follow orders betraying their comrade jedi. Has becomed mind controlled zombies that are barely more sentient than droids.
I dont know since when is Rex such a simp for Ashoka. I remember he didnt like being bossed around by her in the movie.
Republic ships like the Venetor are NOT made on Kamino, they are made and used by the republic army. They existed before the war. They should have crews on them from the republic. Its very odd how this show makes Republic soldiers be all clones and seperatist soldiers be all droids. Kamino cannot produce enough clones to do every single logistical role in the galactic military.
Why does the Venetor floor drop down ??? It doesnt have any cargo down there its too slim of a ship. What purpose could those trap doors serve in active duty. Why have they never been used before.
@@dnaseb9214 100% agree that the chips completely ruined the clones. Unfortunately, all characters eventually become simps for Ahsoka. No one is immune 😞 I'm guessing the reason why Filoni didn't have any non-clone personnel is because he didn't want anyone helping Ahsoka and Rex aside from the droids. That way, they're left in an impossible scenario and he can show off just how amazing Ahsoka is 🙄
@@imyouralibi6208 I am so "happy" Filoni blessed us with a series showing Ashoka being a mary sue while she was a baby. At least Rei had the descency to use mind control as an adult. I dont understand how some people see the problems with Rei, but when Ashoka does it even worse, they cant see it.
Here we go with another video with you complaining about Ahsoka 😂
This is why I do not like this show. Even thou as a kid I liked season 1 and 2. And I even got the dvd for the movie. Ashoke should have always remained a random padawan going on adventures with the main characters for the KIDS watching. She was never supposed to be or should have been this fan fiction character thats present for everything and knows everyone. Never be this mary sue waifu for the adults that watch the show.
Ashoka Tano is 100% a mary sue. She is far worse than Rei, Rei never used time travel or force gods to cheat death. Ignore the simps, you described Ashoka the whole video. I dont like people claiming Luke is a mary sue, he gets defeated many times and has his friends to help him or save him.
People claim Anakin is a Mary Sue too and it's so annoying. Like, he literally lost or turned against everything he cared about and fell to the dark side. How is that a Mary Sue??
@@imyouralibi6208 He also slays women and children, something people hate, and he is never a beacon of morality.
Ashoka should go back to being what she was supposed to be in seasons 1 and 2. A random padawan that goes on adventures with the main cast for the KIDS watching. Not a orange waifu mary sue for the adults that is the key to everything and a saviour of the galaxy.
@@dnaseb9214 Exactly!! Though to be honest, Ahsoka was a Mary Sue from the beginning. Even in episodes as early as S1E9: Cloak of Darkness, it was really blatant. Though I agree that the "key to everything" and "savior of the galaxy" aspects of her character were added in much later and just made her infinitely worse.
@@imyouralibi6208 I only saw season 1 and 2 and the movie as a kid. I do not remember the episode. Is it the parasite episode on a ship? Ashoka holding her own against Ventress or Grevious is also bad. To be fair the whole show makes the bad guys very weak.
Kalifa was such a good character. I remember being kinda mad she was killed off like that. I would have preferred if she was the main character, not Ahsoka, her voice actress was so much better too. 😢
Oh yeah, I 100% agree! Kalifa is awesome.
This episode could have been so much more! And TCW blew it completely!
Yup. Sadly, TCW likes to throw away golden opportunities...
*Just a note:* We realized later we should have taken the opportunity to partially frame Ahsoka standing guard over Nute Gunray as a (failed) practice in patience to help strengthen the theme of this episode showing her impatience. And it would have been as simple as changing Luminara's direction to, "*Wait* for me here." (As opposed to just, "Stay here.")
*Just a note:* We recorded the end section about S1E4 when we were into our early S3 rewrites and, unfortunately, we didn't take a moment to refresh our memory regarding the lessons we'd already set up, and so we made the mistake of having Ahsoka be too trusting of Anakin, chronologically right *before* the arc where she learns to trust him. 😅 In hindsight, we should have had her showing more a little more cynicism toward his "bold" behaviour instead of full support and admiration.
I was never convinced that the parents were abusive. It’s true that they shouldn’t have made Elsa suppress her powers, but they probably had no idea what to do. They may not have known how to handle her anxiety, and they definitely didn’t know how to handle her powers. Yes, Iduna did grow up around magic, but she wouldn’t have any knowledge about controlling magic because the magic she was around came from magical spirits who couldn’t talk. Bruni couldn’t explain how to control fire magic, so Iduna couldn’t ask out of curiosity and happen to have advice for Elsa because of it. I’ve said this on this channel before but I disagree with the idea that Elsa’s parents made her fear her powers. However, I only disagree to an extent. My disagreement comes from the fact that Elsa was already showing signs of fear before the parents were involved. Not to mention I’m pretty sure her fear stems from the trauma of hurting Anna, not from what her parents did. I do agree that they made her fear worse because avoidance is a bad idea when it comes to anxiety. What they taught her was avoidance. Again, they may not have known what else they were supposed to do, plus the trolls could be blamed for some of it since they were following the advice the trolls gave them. I’m not completely convinced that the theory that the trolls are evil is correct, but they could be blamed for what happened, at least somewhat. What Elsa’s parents did could be a case of good intentions with bad actions, but is it abuse? I don’t think so.
You've basically summed up the video. Lol. 😉 ~ M.E.
I honestly love her. Loved her the second she got of that transporter in the movie. I was a little girl then and she taugt me what confedence is. That yes, little girls can kick as and have a personalety. The way i see it her sass is a blessing. Its funny, and most of the time shes got a damn point aswell.
One problem I have with her live action counterpart is that she just seems so restrained as a character compared to her other animated selves. Sure all her experiences could make her stoic but to be honest she kept her character mostly intact in the time skip between the clone wars and Rebels. So why should it be any different for her own show? Now it would be almost impossible to perfectly replicate the entire personality and energy the characters display in animation but the way the actors did their job made me think they were afraid to be more expressive. There's just something that's always missing in live action.
Agreed.
Also i found a quote for you guys sense you keep forgetting to find one before recording. "Stupidity combined with arrogance and a huge ego will get you a long way." -Chris Lowe
Lololol, thank you!
God i swear everytime Ahsoka opens her stupid mouth i just want to punch her. That arrogant/condescending tone is just non stop with her.
I think that Ahsoka should be called Darth Alice (since Alice is a girl's name and Alice rhymes with Malice)
Perfect writing
The more I think about The Clone Wars as a whole the more it upsets me, especially with Ahsoka. For example, the Mortis episodes as a whole just don't hold up. Like, first of all Mortis was always a strange fan-fictiony string of episodes to me. I always thought it was really weird that Anakin turned to the Dark Side and just had his mind erased, and Obi-Wan never saw an issue in that or foreshadowing of any kind. But more to the point, Ahsoka being revived was literal necromancy and the narrative set in the Clone Wars Movie was Obi-Wan and Yoda decided to give Anakin a Padawan specifically for him to learn how to let go of his pupil when the time comes, etc etc. Obi-Wan having no reaction to that at all was completely to fit the easy narrative and probably honestly the writers probably just forgot about all that. Bringing people back from the dead is unnatural. I wish there was a place I could talk about this kind of thing because most of the internet is so pro-CloneWars and even offering a bit of criticism will be combatted thoughtlessly. But I appreciate this channel for pointing out the problems with this show that have been overlooked for far too long.
Oh yeah, the Mortis arc is infinitely flawed and leaves so many unanswered questions. Like, why would the knowledge Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka learned there have virtually no effect on how the Jedi as a whole viewed the force going forward? Why would anyone have any doubts about Anakin's status as the Chosen One after that? And on and on. But probably the most frustrating thing is that the arc *could* have been good if it was cut down to just that beginning episode and then ended with Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka forgetting about what happened there so that it believably wouldn't have any broader impact on the story, characters, and worldbuilding. Anyway, I totally hear you, it can be frustrating to see how much people bend over backwards to nonsensically defend this show. But thankfully, more people are slowly waking up to the fact that it's not half as good as the fans claim. I'm glad you're enjoying our content! We're always happy to hear that what we do here is proving helpful/informative and entertaining 🙂
I guess I’d add my two cents in this conversation, but when it comes to Anakin falling to the dark side and why no one ever brings it up again, you’ll typically hear the whole “well their memories were erased.” And that’s not true. Only Anakin’s memories of Vader were erased by the father but Obi Wan should remember Anakin’s rant about “ you will not understand what I have to do to end the Clone War. You will try to stop me.” Or the whole “ I have seen that it is the Jedi who will stand in the way of peace.” Not once in the following TCW episodes do they show Obi-Wan reflecting on why Anakin willingly joined the embodiment of the Darkside. Even if Anakin doesn’t remember what happened, the writers should’ve taken the time to have Obi-Wan check on him constantly, making sure he isn’t exhibiting any signs of what he saw on Mortis. The whole “they don’t remember anything on Mortis” doesn’t even work because in season 6, they reference seeing and speaking with Qui Gon Jinn when asked by Yoda. So if Yoda knows about this, it’s safe to assume the whole council was given a report by the trio when they got back to Coruscant. Which then prompts the question of how Anakin falling to the dark side, even briefly, doesn’t get mentioned in that report?(I’m blazing past the Ahsoka revival point because I could talk about that all day) it’s possible Obi-Wan doesn’t mention it but we need to see that. You can’t just say “oh, he probably neglected to mention it for fear of Anakin being alienated by the council.”because then the writers aren’t doing their due diligence to actually make sense of this arc and having that conversation being shown. This was something I thought about recently, and if you haven’t checked it out by now, check out Sheev Talks, as he’s one of the reasons why I went back and gave this show some extra criticism. He, like you guys, did a real good job on talking about how TCW has a lot of major issues.
@@youraveragejediknight Exactly! These are all excellent points. And regarding Sheev Talks, I did check out one or two of his videos on TCW, and while he absolutely did have some great criticisms, I was really disappointed by the fact that he insisted on defending the dumb brain chips... 😕
@@imyouralibi6208 man I’m a massive chip supporter so we’re gonna have to agree to disagree😂 but if you don’t mind, can you tell me what your biggest issues are with the chips? I’ve been watching your channel for a while, but I’m not sure if I remember what the criticisms were toward it in past videos.
@@youraveragejediknight My biggest problem with them is they're a clear plot device. The clones were supposed to be perfectly obedient, but Filoni decided to throw that characterization out the window and have them all disobey orders every other week. And what he failed to realize is that, by doing so, he was writing himself into a corner, since Order 66 no longer makes sense if the clones all have the free will to just disobey. So he pulled the brain chip out of his rear end, and it's so obvious he has no interest in pinning down how it actually works, because both in TCW and The Bad Batch series, it changes on a dime for whatever is convenient or interesting for the plot. (I talk about it a bunch in my video "Let's Talk About The Clones" in case you're interested.)
2:59 Yeah. Her Arm should be gone. Entirely. As should half her upper body and head.
I plan on making a video where I talk about two issues with Varian's villain arc and then I talk a little about Varian's redemption arc. Plus I rewrite his villain arc. I pretty much say that his redemption arc only makes sense because of information that can be implied. If it weren't for the fact that in season 3 his goals were more about his father then I probably would've ended up agreeing when you said that his redemption was a 180. After watching this video I noticed something was bugging me about Varian's turn to villainy, so I rewatched What The Hair and Great Expotations and realized there wasn't really buildup for his villain arc. I don't think there's much in Queen For A Day either. I see what made you think it was out of character for him to become a villain. After I watched Great Expotations I didn't understand how Varian becoming a villain made sense. If anything before the scene where the amber starts forming and Varian leaves to get help contributes to his villain arc then I must've missed how.
Another interesting thing about Cassandra is that she seems to somewhat inspired by Jeanna d'Arc/Joan of Arc (looks, personality and story). It was funny how often Cassandra appeared in my mind while I was watching a documentary about Jeanne. Here are some parallels as examples: Jeanne heard (mostly female) angel voices who told her to fight against England -> Zhan Tiri told Cassandra to fight Rapunzel and while ZT was still in ghost-form no one could see her except Cass (making it seem like Cass was hearing voices) Jeanne cut her (dark) hair short and wore men's clothing -> Cassandra has short hair and wears men's clothing Jeanne personality was direct and kind of rude -> Cassandra is direct and kind of rude Jeanne was denied by the baudricourt multiple times before she got a change -> Cassandra was denied multiple times to be part of the guards before she got a change Jeanne was leading an army and fought during war -> Cassandra was leading an army (Secret of the Sun Drop) and fought herself as well Jeanne's leg got hurt during war -> Cassandra hurt her leg (admittedly that could be a stretch) Jeanne got burned -> Cassandra's forearm got burned Jeanne got severely injured during war, but insisted of continuing to fight -> Cassandra got badly injured, but insisted she was "fine" and kept going People/grown men were afraid of Jeanne -> People/grown men are afraid of Cass Jeanne got "promoted" after freeing Orléans (raised to nobility) -> Cassandra got "promoted" after leading the guards in SOTSD (became bodyguard)
Oh, wow! That's really interesting! I wonder if it really is all just a coincidence or an actual conscious choice by the creators. Anyway, thanks for highlighting those parallels!
@@imyouralibi6208 I also noticed that when the united sun-and moondrop shoots into space the beam seems to come from where Orléans is located. If it is supposed to be a reference to Jeanne d'Arc's history, that could (finally) explain why the beam comes from the "middle" of the land instead of (close to) the sea. Jeanne d'Arc is also a french symbol of unity. But of course that is just one historical figure Cassandra is based on. Another is of course Cassandra of Troy or at the very least the "Cassandra syndrome". "The Cassandra metaphor (variously labeled the Cassandra "syndrome", "complex", "phenomenon", "predicament", "dilemma", "curse") relates to a person whose valid warnings or concerns are disbelieved by others. " - from Wikipedia
I 1,000,000% agree with the overall message of this video. I also thought that Cassandra arc and trauma is extremely overlooked in favor of praising Varians and her build up was in my opinion way better than Varians. I just personally feel that her execution as a villain was weaker then his, because even though it is extremely obvious that Cassandra feels outshined by Rapunzel no matter all of her efforts to exit her shadow, Rapunzel is still very much the closest person in her life and her best friend. As much as Varian had nobody before it’s not really like he and Rapunzel had many episodes of building up their friendship, if anything he should be closer to Cassandra because they have had more bonding episodes together. It makes sense that he villainizes Rapunzel in his mind because he *isn’t close to her when his world gets flipped around* Cassandra has had many episodes of her friendship with Rapunzel and even though they clearly don’t have an unbreakable bond considering all of the negative factors and feelings of self doubt that have come up in Cassandra’s mind because of Rapunzel’s existence. Her friendship with Rapunzel has always pushed through and prevailed for so long on top of these feelings of worthlessness. Cassandra loves Rapunzel and it is obvious. So I think It’s out of character for her to villainize Rapunzel over the rest of Corona. She should’ve wanted to prove her worth to them and make them realize that she is so much more than what she seems to be, but she shouldn’t have thought she should do this by attempting to ruin Rapunzel’s life. It could’ve been a great misunderstanding where both of them don’t want to hurt each other but they’re both being convinced that the other one does want to hurt. I really feel like it should’ve been something of how Cassandra clearly felt shadowed by Rapunzel and wanted to clearly step out of that. But when it is implied that there is a chance Rapunzel could die from touching the moonstone. And after having her feelings of being outshined be pushed to its limits from figuring out about Gothal. This is why Cassandra takes the moonstone and tries to control it. She tries to prove herself and save her best friend at the same time. If it was a complaint that Cassandra should’ve been way more levelheaded than Varian, then this would appeal to both sides because *she isn’t trying to hurt just like how he wasn’t trying to hurt* the part where they let their failures to achieve their goals even after turning to villainy is what causes them to lash out and eventually want to hurt others instead of trying harder to either get recognition or get their father free. Cassandra should’ve eventually become more villainous, but she should’ve always had this feeling of guilt behind her because she was hurting her best friend by doing it. But she’s not gonna be patient anymore and she’s going to put herself first. Because waiting and letting Rapunzels feelings come before hers is what led to her being so unrecognized. TLDR Cassandra had a reasonable crash out but I think it was weird of her to crash out on Rapunzel instead of just the rest of Corona.
Thanks for your comment! I understand your point about how you find it unconvincing that Cass would turn against Raps after all their history but, as we detailed in the video, it’s not unbelievable due to all the feelings she’s been struggling with and the targeted manipulation by Zhan Tiri. Certainly her character arc writing is flawed; I’ve heard a bunch of fan-made alternatives that I would have loved to see instead. But what you mention about how Cass’s motivation “should’ve been something of how Cassandra clearly felt shadowed by Rapunzel and wanted to clearly step out of that… she’s not gonna be patient anymore and she’s going to put herself first” is exactly what we see in the show. And yeah, she gradually became more villainous - she didn’t want to hurt Rapunzel at the start, but she was pushed further and further through Zhan Tiri’s manipulations. And she certainly felt conflicted throughout most of her villain arc, as we explained. 🤷♀ ~ M.E.
@@imyouralibi6208 OH NO I DIDNT PHRASE THIS WELL ENOUGH. I meant that through the ENTIRETY of her arc it should have been obvious they didn’t want to hurt each other. As much as she was manipulated, it would have just been more compelling if the conflict between them was truly just a misunderstanding. And I’m probably bias because I’d give everything would have made for a *FANTASTIC DUET*
@@forgettableanimegirl5253Oooooh, okay! I don't know if I'd like all the conflict to just be due to a big misunderstanding, but that's only my personal opinion. But yeah, I could totally see a duet version of "I'd Give Anything" being absolutely lovely. 👍 ~ M.E.
Its always the pathetic puritans that cant separate fiction from reality
She learned all the war crimes from Anakin prbly
To comment on the Jedi losing their way in the war, it plays a big part in my take of the Clone Wars. Basically the idea is that at the start of the war the Jedi don't take an active military role. As the Anakin says, they are peace keepers not soldiers. So the Jedi would focus more on humanitarian efforts. Helping refugees, escorting shipments of food and medical supplies. Then as the war goes on and leaves more destruction in it's wake we would see a more militant faction growing within the order. This group would say 'The war is only getting worst we need to do more to stop the innocents from suffering.' Now the Jedi would start going after criminal organizations. Pirates, The Black Sun, the Pikes ect. People who are profiting from the war and preying on those effected by it. We would see how many in the order react and are effected by the carnage and evil they witness. Further spurring them to wanting to end the war. To the point that by the end many are actively getting involved. Assuming combat roles and fighting in battles. We could see them clash with the other military personal. We could see some Jedi lose themselves to the Dark Side. There's so many story opportunities that TCW just wastes or only ever really give lip service to. It's so frustrating.
Yeah, that would've been a much more logical progression for the Jedi. I think the most frustrating thing is that the fans act like TCW *does* have logical progression in that aspect when it clearly doesn't.
@@imyouralibi6208 Which is weird considering the episodic nature of the show. And the writers clear lack of care for continuity and character constancy.
@@imyouralibi6208 I agree with that
@@imyouralibi6208Eh, I kinda disagree. I mean, Pong krell is LITERALLY a jedi who falls to the dark side. I understand some of what you are saying, but I gotta respectfully disagree with saying that the progression wasn’t at least somewhat logical
@@aperson3996 But one Jedi falling to the dark side is not a progression.
Do you guys hate Ahsoka more than Rey? Both are Mary sues but Rey is wayyyy worse.
In terms of personality, I feel Ahsoka is worse. But otherwise, I consider them the same level of bad.
@@imyouralibi6208 Rey is just boring. Ahsoka is actively annoying.

Yup
In the comic I'm dubbing right now, The Stark Hyperspace War, Obi-Wan finds himself in a similar desperate alliance with a relative of Tarkin's at an earlier point in time. I wonder if in this episode he was thinking: Is everyone in your family mad?

I swear, that wasn't even intentional 😂
@@imyouralibi6208 sure ahahah
%100 agree
Something important is that Lux leading Onderon to join "the good guys" was actually the biggest mistake he would've made for his people since siding with the Republic directly sends it to be under Imperial control Not that Lux himself cared much about it, during the better part of the civil war he was happy being rich while his people suffered. I'm sure his mother would be proud of him The Separatists were right btw
The PT’s nuanced and subtle separatists, not TCW’s 2D separatists for those who want to know.
0:04 I don't feel like that one counts as "excessive" plot armor. Maybe it is plot armor but not an excessive one. We've already seen babies her age using the force in an effective way before. For example, there's the baby rhodian from The Clone Wars season 2 episode 3. He was literally making a ball float around.
There's a big difference between floating a ball and literally asserting your will over another living creature.
@@imyouralibi6208 I dunno. Neither me or you are jedi. I mean, we don't know exactly how the force works but it's canonically proven that force sensitive people have different talents. Ezra Bridger, for example, is canonically very talented in connecting to animals. Maybe Ahsoka is as well? Maybe connecting to an animal isn't harder than making things float, it just depends on people talents? I think both are pretty possible explanations.
@@AlexandreSardeiro I mean, we literally never see Ahsoka use Beast Control outside of that one episode in Tales of the Jedi, so it doesn't make sense to say she's proficient with that ability. And if we're using Ezra Bridger for comparison: 1) Ezra was fourteen, not a baby. 2) He still struggled initially with learning Beast Control, despite it being an ability he was natural talented at. 3) To manipulate a creature several times his size like Ahsoka did, he had to tap into the dark side. Again, it's a very notable difference.
@@imyouralibi6208 I wasn't comparing her to Ezra, it was just an example. However, if we speak about other times Ahsoka used beast control, she succeded in using the jedi mind trick twice first try in Clone Wars. So I think it's safe to say she's talented in jedi mind powers. But, of course, that's not enough evidence, I just thought it was worth bringing that up. However, the same way there are no evidence of beast control being easy, there's also no evidence of it being harder than other force powers, such as moving objects without touching them. Instead, we have evidence that babies are, indeed, able to use the force in an efficient way. To make it short, there's evidence of babies using force powers while there's no evidence of beast control being harder than moving objects. You presented the point that Ezra needed practice to achieve beast control. However, Luke Skywalker also needed 3 years worth of practice in order to make his lightsaber fly into his hand atvthe beginnkng of Empire Strikes Back. Therefore, Luke needed practice to make something a baby did naturally. Same way, Ezra needed practice to make something a baby did naturally. And there's no evidence of beast control being harder than moving objects. Therefore, my point stands. It probably depends on people aptitudes. Kinda like there are people who are good at math while there are people who are good at history. The rhodian baby was good at making things float while Ahsoka was good at beast taming. As I said before, it may have been plot armor but not an excessive one. (Unless you also consider Luke, Ezra, Anakin, Obi Wan, etc, to also have excessive plot armor)
My biggest gripe is the magicfication of Star Wars. Lightsabers are now little more than Harry Potter Magic wands, they can only be used by force users, their Crystals which only determined the color in the past, are now choosing their masters in a life threatening test, a life threatening tests for children mind you. And they can also hide themselves from others, as mentioned in that Ahsoka Book where the Empire mines Ilum for these crystals but only gets a fraction because most of those crystals "hide themselves" Then there are the literal Witches with green Warcraft Magic, which were only introduced because George wanted Darth Maul back for his Sequel idea, and were supposed to be exterminated once Maul was revived. Then there's that terrible mortis Arc. That other Balance nonsense. The Whills that no one except George cares about. The World between worlds, which was used to save Ahsoka, but when they tried to save Kanan Ahsoka said no, they shouldn't change fate. Motherducker. Ahsoka if you believe that than go back to Vader and die as you should.
Great points! I'm mostly on the same page. With the sentient crystals and the Whills, I'm more on the fence; I don't mind them too much, honestly. But with everything else you listed, yes, it is so frustratingly nonsensical! The Mortis arc and World Between Worlds especially break the worldbuilding so badly and just ruin everything. And yes, that moment where Ahsoka throws Kanan under the bus is so hypocritical. The heroic thing to do would've been to sacrifice herself in Kanan's place so that Ezra could have his mentor back. But nope! She refuses to lift a finger to help. And it quite frankly makes her look like a self-centered, horrible person in that moment.
It continues to amaze me how much the writing of this show just goes out of its way to show Ahsoka in nothing but a positive light. "Ooh look at Ahoska. She's so cool and great and everyone worships the ground she walks on."
Yup. It gets *very* annoying 😩
Right 🤢
"The only thing that wasn't stupid was what Tarkin had to say and Anakin agreeing with him" - Pretty much sums up this whole episode
Lol 😂
@@imyouralibi6208 This episode actually made me think of something. Compare Ahsoka's snarky behavior toward Tarkin, whose only real fault towards her at this point is being slightly condescending (while not being entirely wrong) to Senator Chuchi in season 1 when the Pantoran chairman orders her to destroy the Talz. She responds: "I'm afraid I cannot do that, Chairman. The Pantoran Assembly has called you out of order. I'm to negotiate peace." He literally just told her to *commit genocide,* and she responds politely and civilly in the negative while being firm in her position that she won't carry out his orders. Meanwhile Ahsoka sneers and makes faces because someone disagrees with her. Even if she were fully in the right, that's not mature people behave.
@@CleverUsername1 I know, right?? I love Chuchi. And the way people try to defend Ahsoka's behavior is absurd. "Tarkin doesn't deserve respect!!" Well, I'm pretty sure someone who behaves like a petulant toddler doesn't deserve respect either. "But she's so sassy, I love her!" There's a difference between sassy and disrespectful. And Ahsoka is much better described as the latter.
@@imyouralibi6208 IKR exactly. If being rude makes Tarkin unworthy of respect, why does Ahsoka deserve respect for acting *literally the exact same way*?They're basically saying that being rude is OK if you're the hero who's in the right. Completely missing the irony that being rude is not a heroic trait and makes you less of a hero. Tarkin is a villain for being rude, but Ahsoka is awesome for being equally rude right back? That's called hypocrisy, folks. Two wrongs don't make a right. Also, there's a difference between respect and liking someone. You can despise someone but still be respectful towards them. It doesn't mean you agree with them or condone their actions. And yes, I love Chuchi too! I love the Pantorans' aesthetic too. Has a somewhat medieval Russian look to it. But with New Zealand accents.
@@CleverUsername1 Yesss, the double standards are insane. And TCW's black-and-white moral scale is absolutely to blame. The heroes can do the most abhorrent things (there's certainly no shortage of war crimes committed by TCW's "heroes") and they'll still be treated like heroes despite that, but the villains can do the exact same thing and the narrative will go: "SEE?!? They're so bad!!"
I think the moment of Gothel abandoning Cassandra might even be a bit more traumatizing than we give it credit for. Like... imagine you being a 4 year old child. You are waiting for your parent to return. Being completely alone for hours, until it is already the middle of the night. Then suddenly a group of unknown men burst into your home and start screaming. You run to the door, just to see your parent (aka. the one who is supposed to protect you) on the other side of a river in front of a bridge. You shout for them, but as a response they destroy the bridge - therefore you cannot reach them - and leave you alone with those unknown (and probably scary) men. Then those strangers carry you away from the safety of your home and also the only place you have ever known. Meanwhile you cannot stop crying because you do not know if you will ever see your parent again. If I would have been in her situation, I would have been scared for my life. Before someone mentions it: Yes, the Captain said he would not harm her (and thankfully he kept his word), but he was still a stranger to Cassandra at this point. There was not a reason for her to trust him, yet.
Absolutely. It would've felt unbelievably frightening and horrible. Poor Cass 😞😢
Another reason for her anger and trauma is Cassandra probably felt Rapunzel was taking away from her (by outshining her, etc) only to find out Rapunzel took her mother from her. That could be why she obsessed over the idea of Gothel loving her.
@@cassidyh5021 I wouldn't say "probably". In "Islands Apart" Cassandra says to the Captain "you knew all along how much was taken from me". So I would say it is definitely the case. Last night I also had the thought that one reason why Cassandra built her tower at the place where Rapunzel's was is that she wanted to be closer to Gothel. After all, the tower was also where her mother lived and (most importantly) died.
@@beingafk3494 That does make sense.

I think Ahsara is also not too great of a character, she doesn't fulfill her promise of trying to be a middle point between Jedi and Sith after joining the Empire, overall she feels like a whiny hypocrite, who is always preaching to do Jedi stuff while silently allowing Darth Nox to do whatever they want, she doesn't fit in because she's both not as light as she claims to be but also not dark enough that she would realistically support many of the horrible acts Nox comitts. Of course i'm saying this as someone who played the Sith Inquisitor story as a dark sided guy, perhaps she feels like she belongs in the story more with a Light-leaning Sith or more neutral, perhaps i am just disappointed that she is always left in this limbo state without any possibility of turning her over to the Dark Side even a little bit, mostly because the game frames you recruiting her as "manipulating her" by how other Sith refer to the process, but in how it plays out it feels like Ashara is just too dumb to realize she's making a terrible decision, while also being completely impervious to any attempt by Nox to further corrupt her or turn her into a real Sith Apprentice, she displays a contradictory balance between her resolve and her gullibleness. I was really happy to go "i have no further use of you, bye" to her when she returned in the expansions lol, at least that way it seems like Nox is less of an idiot. She's still definetly better than Ahsoka or Jaesa.
As someone who was supporting the idea of the acolyte way before it came out, i will definitely say i was disappointed with what we got. Of course there were some things i liked about the show but overall i thought it was a bit too inconsistent lore wise and the miscommunication / lack there of really bothered me quite a bit😂. Another thing id like to add is even if you don't look at it lore wise or if you chose to take off your starwars glasses and looked at it individually as a project (even excluding anything politically motivated as well) i still don't see it being the most successful out there. One thing i definitely agree with you on and im sure everyone else does too, the fight choreography is certainly worth giving credit for. In my opinion nothing has been able to beat and or match the prequels yet, but id say the fight scenes we see in acolyte is probably the best we've seen since the prequels
Yeah, at the very least, I'm hoping the fight choreography in Acolyte gets carried forward into other Star Wars projects 🤞
Nah, she's just that good lmao. But in all honesty there are a lot of star wars characters with a ton of plot armor.
Most every character, but especially protagonists, have plot armour to some degree. It’s typical in stories that characters survive obstacles so that the plot can continue. But, when a story is well-written, plot armour is invisible. When “plot armour” is used as a *criticism* it is because it is too visible - it breaks suspension of disbelief that the character survives. Such is the case with Ahsoka. ~ M.E.
I’m personally sure that while Cassandra’s arc isn’t 100% perfect and Rapunzel was a bit TOO forgiving even though she’s Sunshine incarnate, I still enjoy it even if I think it could’ve been a bit better at how it was handled
Why would Ahsoka be destitute? As the former apprentice of Anakin Skywalker, she should be tripping over job offers for security, diplomatic services, even just with being a face in a toothpaste commercial.
Hmm, you could have a point there 👀🤔
2:05:31 I think it makes sense to be torn. I feel like in writing once a character faces their fears they're normally not scared anymore. Varian being cautious about the amber even after facing his fear would diminish what he went through in Be Very Afraid, but trauma doesn't heal that fast, so it could make sense for him to be a little cautious. The more I thought about it the more I started to think it might make sense for him to be okay with using the amber if he's more afraid of what happened with his dad than the amber itself. You could say that by facing the fear of the amber he realized he is more afraid of something happening to his dad than using the amber. He was only afraid of the amber because it encased his dad and maybe because of the guilt he had about his actions. He associated the amber with his trauma. I think this because of how he acts in Plus Est En Vous when Eugene brings up the mind trap. Varian starts being cautious then.
Fair point 🤔
If nuance = bad guys don't know they're on bad guys' side, but when they do, they become good guys Then this show is as "nuanced" as they come. Unfortunately... that ain't nuance.
It's like Bozo-Katan eagerly vouching for Deathwatch and their terrorist actions up until her boyfriend lost to a non-human and she left the group then went crying to the Republic in to fix the mess that SHE caused
The fact that she's such a brat sometimes (most of the times in phase 1) is one of the main reasons, I love her.😁
