I have a normally aspirated 2010 XK 5.0 portfolio convertible and although down on the power of the XKR & your XKR-S I fully concur with your comments. Nice video keep them coming 👍
To be honest my standard xk is superb and does everything perfectly...sure a few more ponies would be great but the dna of these jags is spot on..great video!
You ever make it to Nashville TN... standing invite to review the GT, P8 , R8V10 (collecting it tomorrow!) or any of the other cars. Awesomely produced videos my friend.... James.
😮 That's incredibly generous, thank you James! The offer is much appreciated. How did the R8 collection go? A video soon I hope? Very kind to offer them for review, even if I'm unlikely to get over there any times soon 😞
Another informative video Andrew. I've owned my 2011 XK normally aspirated for a year now and recently had it serviced at specialist, definitely the way to go. With regards to fuel consumption, I've had 30 MPG on a one hour motorway run. Keep the content coming mate. 👍
So thats the 4.2, right? 30MPG is not bad atall! I does seem to differ from car to car and driving conditions but the supercharger isn't helping anyone Steve 😅 Take care!
I'm shocked that you only have 626 subscribers...your videos are VERY WELL DONE! I don't have an XK myself, but I do own an XF and still enjoy everything Jaguar. Keep up the great content mate! Cheers from the US.
😀Thanks for such positivity Shaun! I'm feeling it, even if you are across the pond from us! I'll keep building the channel hopefully 👍 Enjoy your XF! Take care ✌
Another great video! Ive put 1000 miles on the R-S and the R-S GT in a weekend. Very good reliability ... only true issue is wet weather handling and clearance on the front end... especially the GT
👍🏼Glad to hear you are getting the most out of the two cars! You've certainly got to be switched on in the wet, but not cause to be terrified of taking it out. Please don't scrape that lovely bumper of the GT 😲
Thanks for the video - I have a normally aspirated 2012 5.0L "Superchipped" Portfolio DHC which replaced a 2007 4.2L XKR. The later car is noticeably more powerful and a better 'driver' than the older supercharged car, but the ride was better on the 4.2. Economy is about the same.
Thank you for the video....I have an XKR here in Florida and I love mine but always love to see new videos of the line and I enjoy watching yours. Also any small mods coming perhaps?
You'll have better driving weather over there than the UK, I suppose Hector? I'm considering a supercharger pulley mod with a ECU remap to suit but not sure as yet as I love it as it is! Cheers for the comment!
Have you seen that you can retro fit an apple car play module? I saw on one of your other videos that you wanted bt audio..Also has the car been remapped as it pops and bangs on over run more than other xkr-s
😁Not remapped Luke- if you feather the throttle it will make some nice pops on the over run. I haven't changed anything with the audio. Most go for a 'Bovee' which allows Bluetooth connectivity. I'm sticking with CD's 🙈
Looks like your headliner is different to the xkr or maybe it's because it doesn't look like it's drooping anywhere like mine is in the corners. Such a beautiful interior! I can't stand my grey cheap looking plastic.
😎It may be to do with the year aswell Zach? Mine is a lovely black leather that you don't notice much to be honest, as it fits in with the car so we'll. We have great weather here in the UK and you the same for driving 😊
XKR doesn’t have a dipstick, it’s all on the dash before start up or after 10mins of cool-down. Doesn’t have a temp gauge either. XKR 5.0 supercharged = 22mpg on average , would never see 30mpg
Hi Andrew. Thanks for the informative and well produced video. Have you any thoughts on a stage one remap for my 2012 XKR, which would match the BHP of the XKRS?
Others have spoken of very positive experiences with remapping, Jerry. You are likely going to need to change atleast the centre section of the exhaust as a minimum as these are somewhat restrictive. The other component you may need to develop that power is a super charger pulley upgrade (smaller). Google PowerHouse in Chesterfield who are the makers of the pulley upgrade and see what they recommend. Several independent garages will buy their part and can remap to around 550bhp. The smaller pulley allows a quicker 'spool' up at lower RPM.
Many years ago when I first bought my 2010, I had the Eurocharged remap done to my car. Supposedly this and most of the other tuners say their remaps will get you to about 600hp. I have nearly 200,000 miles on my car now, and haven't had any issues. Besides being my daily driver, my car has been to the track on dozens of occasions. The F-type R uses the same supercharged 5.0L and on the forum, the tune (remap) from Velocity seems to be the one of preference. If you have a reliable company behind the product, you shouldn't have a problem.
Hi Francis. It's an unbranded vent mount. Supermarkets often do them or type 'vent phone holder' in online and that will give you a load to choose from. Take care 👍
Great question. Different thrills, but overall I've enjoyed my XKR-S ownership more. Better sounding and driving experience. GTR for outright performance but the Jag really isn't far behind. Thanks Julien.
A friend and (De tomaso Pantera owner as a result of driving mine) took me for a ride in his GTR a couple of years ago. After 30 minutes I told him I would never ride in it again! Horrible ride, horrible noise, absolutely the clunkiest, worst shifting autobox I gave ever experienced. Honestly, if it weren't for its prodigious performance parameters. I can't comprehend how anyone could drive this car away from the track. My XKR with 200,000 miles on her is so far and away better, there isn't even a comparison.
🤔I think a nice XKR would be a more ideal daily driver, but their is nothing that stops the XKR-S from being used everyday. Very reliable- but I like to keep it for evening and weekend drives 👍

I agree about the independent garages looking after people more and loving the cars! Great review 👏

Thanks Simon. Much appreciated 🫡

@@QuickShiftTV2024 I decided against the XKR Andrew as I really think 385 bhp is plenty for an old boy like me ! 😊 Mine's the 5.0 mate.
Great video Andrew. A great insight into the XKR. Love it!
Thanks Vint-tro! Much more to come with some improvements in production quality hopefully 🤞
Good video
Looking forward to the next one 👍
Thanks James. I can confirm it will be a CLK55😅! Can't wait! The comments are always appreciated 👍
Great vid mate with some very helpful advice / info 👍🏼
Thanks Black Stag!

Thanks for the info. Picking my 5.0 R up next Friday👍
You'll love it. Other than the rising fuel cost, it will be a brilliant ownership experience. Let us know how you get on/ any dislikes.

Thanks for the insight Gavin. I've not driven a N/A but am glad to hear you are enjoying yours! What colour is yours in?
Very informative video. Love the RS.

Another great video mate if you ever want a standard 2011 XKR 5.0 supercharged to do a comparison video feel free to give me a shout 👍
Thank you Jak, that's very kind of you to offer. Where abouts are you situated? That would make a useful video for people 👍🏼
@@QuickShiftTV2024 I’m in manchester area but don’t mind a little drive 😂

Nice vid you have made, You mentioned the Dip Stick in the engine bay, I didn't think the 5lt had a Dip Stick?
Hi Will! Mine does. Prehaps its an implanted 2.0L from a Vauxhall? Who knows! 😅

What phone holder do you have? I have 2010 XKR and need a decent holder. Not on windscreen
Hi Francis. It's an unbranded vent mount. Supermarkets often do them or type 'vent phone holder' in online and that will give you a load to choose from. Take care 👍
As you've owned both which do you prefer XKRS or Nissan GTR? I've been thinking about switching from the Jag to a GTR
Great question. Different thrills, but overall I've enjoyed my XKR-S ownership more. Better sounding and driving experience. GTR for outright performance but the Jag really isn't far behind. Thanks Julien.

Does that car have a oil dip stick
Just a dip stick behind the steering wheel, I believe.
No you mentioned you checked the dip stick but I thought it was on the dash

If you have to persuade your girlfriend to get this car I would recommend to change your girlfriend
