This song came out in 1987 when I was 23yrs old sporting a red 1986 Hyundai Excel GL 4dr Hatchback and I thought that I was the man🤔😁🤣. That car was around $6,000 brand new. Now 36 yrs later with 6 kids and 13 grands and a grey chin...where did the time go? I'm thankful that I'm still here and this song is still hitting hard! Be safe out there because times have certainly changed! Much love and respect to all🙏🏾✌🏾♥️
You were the man! You were the Dude me and my friends were hear coming down the block and as you rolled by we tried to not look and act like we could not hear anything, lol. Truth is we wish we were you, ha ha ha. The good ole days, Time Flies!
Verdammte Axt....bin 70er und bin mit den Liedern großgeworden...Bin froh drum, war meine chaotischste und beste Zeit auf Erden.Bin stolz auf die 80er,daß ich ein Teil von sein darf:)
I remember cruising on my Cadillac Hollywood Blvd Saturday nights jamming this song with my 12"s and my 6X9" pioneers clean deep bass and clean lows twetters, what a great times...
Hip hop back then was pure expression. Truly came from the soul and heart. Today, everyone is just trying to make a buck. Compared to the 70s and 80s, hip hop today is garbage. If you're reading this, that means you are listening to the evidence to back me up.
As an Italian American I say this with all respect..Old school hip hop was created by the hood, for the hood, ...and it was overall more positive BECAUSE of that
I remember when this came out in 86’ - I was a freshman in high school and remember pretty much everyone in the parking lot rockin’ to this! Pure classic! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is just the tip of the ice break. There were so many phenomenal remixes that come out in the 80s & 90s that is not on UA-cam. If I wished i was more careful with my CDs back then because I could’ve uploaded it to UA-cam.
It is still so so good. I always had trouble identifying it because of all the various samples from Kraftwerk or Egyptian Lover etc. thank you UA-cam I never would have found this again.

Actually the "Miami Bass" sound is originally from Southern Cali. The Dj's from LA went over there & Miami loved it. Even 2 Live Crew are all from Riverside, Ca. except for Luke. Luke signed them and then joined the group, but they already had there sound going on here in Cali. Egyptian Lover was a major force in LA at the time too, even producing Rodney O from Rodney O & Joe Cooley's first demos. Rodney O & 2 Live all went to High School together in Riverside. So it's from IE/LA Cal, but it just took off in Miami, hence the reason 2 Live Crew moved over there. FACTS!
This must be one of the most popular scratch effect segments of all time. Often used in live beat mixing back in the day. It deserves a higher pitch. +20
Picked this up on a white label from Groove Records in Greek Street one Saturday afternoon and played it to the crowd every night thereafter. That bassline is probably why I now have tinnitus in my 50s.
