Another awesome review Andy! The thing I love about your review is more of opinion kind of review rather then the usual technical graph kind of review that most reviewer uses. Looking forward to another.
Fantastic review, Andy! I have my sights on this IEM, but I was wondering if it's an actual upgrade from the Z12... I may just buy it because it's such a nice presentation and I don't have a normal S12. Good to see you reviewing!
Letshuoer is really digging the 8th anniversary with the iems,I do hope that there's a D13 2024 or Tape Pro 2024 coming cause those 2 really need some upgrades.
I love COOL "montage ideas" in videos....... so I love this video as many of the previous :D Great work/job. You deserve more viewers! ... I hope you will get it. (headphones is very niche genre. it's hard to get views) anyway today you have 12k...... so 2k+ in couple of months. So as I told : If you add more "technique stuff" (such as gaming stuff - nintendo switch, etc) you will be boosted. So I afraid that : If you trying to create good videos but don't get satisfy amount of views you can start "burn out".
I got mine in yesterday and they are awesome! I prefer these over my mp-145s. The big thing i hate about the mp-145 is the crinkle sound effect every time i insert and adjust them in my ears. The s12 2024 does not have this at all. The FPS game imagining is simply amazing man.
It’s really top of the line tuned iem. Driving with iBasso dx320 max it sounds better then most of thousand dollars iem. Don’t underestimate the power of delicate tuning. Those subtle changes in sound make the difference between hi-end and regular stuff.

Great content! I've watched a lot of your reviews! About the one that you made an year ago regarding the tangzu heyday i do have a question. Is this version s12 2024 better than the heyday or dunu talos from your perspective?
Yes, as far as I can tell, S12 2024 is the topmost magnetic planar among many, even better than MP145, Heyday and Talos, all of which I dearly love. The only other magnetic planar that I love equally to S12 2024 is SIVGA Nightingale which is still my personal day to day most used favorites
Thanks for the review andy! Just got mine a week ago.. and sadly the sound was anemic on the dragonfly red and decidely unsatisfying on the ve odo.. im getting an onix xl1 in hopes of better sound...
I agree with you on how impressive a single driver can perform so well compared with multi-driver setups. I'm curious to hear whether the Aful Cantor with its 14 BAs can live up to expectations
Heyya, Andy! Little late to the party but GREAT review & take on S12 2024. Got mine in, enjoying the heck out of it & had nothing but praises. Been rocking it with Abigail Pro 4.4 but I feel like I want to treat it(and myself lol) to something that showcases more of its capabilities. Wondering what your take is on between pairing it with Onix Alpha(@ $90), despite some ppl having pairing/software issues that may or may not affected sound output, or with a the new TRN TE Pro(@ $66) which was described as kinda sorta a re-skinned EPZ TP50 more or less; transitioned myself to favor Musical over Analytical nowadays. Thanks & keep up the great content 🙂♥️
Thanks. Pairing it with ONIX Alpha XI? fyi this review that I did and like all other IEMs review I done since I got ONIX was done a lot pairing them with the Alpha. Of course being super amazing and one of the two of topmost performer in #donglemadness this year alongside DC07Pro, the synergy is mind-blowingly amazing, only topped by either DX180 or DX260 by a hair
hi andy, nice review. I have OG s12, can you plsease tell me how does it compares to s12 2024 edition?, what do I miss in OG S12? One more question, I have purchased EPZ TP50 after watching your video review and it sounds amazing, should I use it with low gain or high gain to use it with S12?
S12 2024 to me is a much improved implementation of the og S12 in every way possible. Always run High Gain and 4.4mm BAL for all type of planars, they love power

Hello Andy, thank you for a great review! I would love to hear from you a few words about how these s12 2024 are compared to Sivga Nightingale, what do you think?
Different sound presentation. Nightingale will remain special with that Mids centric sound and overall warmer than any of my other magnetic planars. Consider S12 2024 is something that bridges the gap between MP145 and Nightingale, I think you get the idea. S12 2024 is more technically adept than Nightingale for sure. One thing I can tell you now, S12 2024 is gradually taking over as my go to planar IEM because it offers me the best of MP145 and Nightingale combined
@@donglemadness Thank you for such in-depth, informative answer. A lot to think of, for sure. Now waiting for Kiwi Ears KE4 review, I guess they are the closest rival to s12 2024 atm. Keep up the good work and stay safe!

Small question. Do you know where can I buy these letshuoer foam tips? I really love them over others and looks like they’re not available on letshuoer website
Dunu SnS tips actually dont tame or tone down the treble (in the scooping out fassion or rolling off fassion) they smoothing out peaks. Soft silicone material ... So they are not cutting of extension just ironing the FR. Nice tips along with TRN T tips and azla tips, also soft silicone.
Consider the different effects on different ear cavity shape and different human sensitivity to sound and pinna, while I absolutely love KZ foam tips because it is perfect for me, I know a lot of people also hated it to the core, so tips will behave differently with different ears
@@donglemadness yes I see what you mean. I also meant that SnS are widebored so that ,,tameness,, cant be from a typical roll of, extension is there they just smoothing out the peaks, resonaces. Thats why I like them as a tool. I also like TRN T tips for that reason although bore is a little bit smaller and they sound accordingly 🙂
does it handle busy track well?? for example like track from The Nutcrackers or The 5.6.7.8's and also thanks your the insightful review as always Andy!!
i tried audition for S12 2024, and I still prefer the s12 Pro. IMO, the improvement is small and i found the sacrifice the mids (thin-bodied) to attain the larger soundstage. The treble may be hot to some song and it is source dependent and requires alot of power to drive.
Hey Andy, thanks for the great review! I am thinking of upgrading from my S12 Pro and Truthear Hexa. Cant decide between Letshuoer S12 2024 Edition and Cadenza 4. Which one do you think I should go for? S12 2024 edition or Cadenza 4?
No worries. I am more inclined to suggest S12 2024 over Cadenza, unless of course you prefer a Harman sound curve of which S12 Pro is NOT Harman. Otherwise, both are already amazing IEMs in their own rights
I didn't compare it with T10s and F1Pro because the S12 2024 is clearly superior to my longtime favorite of MP145 and even the recently released MP143 (of which MP144/MP143 is already superior than T10s/F1Pro). They all shared the same speedy magnetic planar sound and scales amazing with power, just that S12 2024 is topping the chart now for being the topmost planar for 2024, period
I got my MP145 10 days back, using sliver nozzle with balanced tip, I've a 4.4 mm jack cable . These sound great as I love the way it produces tones that are natural sounding and airy. I got a miro gipe though, I like vocals and unless I increase the volume to 60 percent, these sound slightly heldback. At 60, instruments get quite loud as well, which I don't like. Is there a fix to it, can enhance vocals slightly? I am sure, your hack will help many users along with me. Also, is it absolutely worth to switch to S12 Pro 2024. Please help.
MP145 is still a V Curve tuned IEM so it does not emphasize on the Mids that much at all. If you love bold Mids, SIVGA Nightingale does it better. You can still play with different ear tips to see if it will change the forwardness of the Mids
Hi andy, is it worth to jump from kz linglong to here? I love the sound on my Linglong ❤️, i love dd bass can this s12 2024 be close to that dd bass sound?
Hi Andy, how does the s 12 2024 compare to the tanchjim origin please? which in your opinion are better for classical, instrumental, jazz music? I have origin, should I change them to s12 2024
Origin has flatter overall sound curve and not as energetic or fast as S12 2024. Both I consider as exceedingly great with tuning. On a personal note, I prefer S12 2024 more for the super-fast, airy dynamic transients which is a hallmark of very well-tuned magnetic planars
Do you reckon the S12 Anniversary Edition would be the ideal IEM for someone wantinf to try their first Planar? Before this review ive been eyeing the Tangzu Heyday.
Yes absolutely. We are talking about the best magnetic planar to exist yet and having S12 2024 is like you don't have to worry about what you will be missing because it is there right at the top of the food chain
@@donglemadness alright I've ordered one myself! Looking forward to it. I also bought the Fiio KA11 and iBasso DC03 Pro after watching your donglemadness videos, would these two be more than capable for S12 Anniversary Edition?
Hey Andy, i have the original S12. Ive been saving up to upgrade to a US$300-500 hybrid driver IEM like Estrella, Mega5EST, Hype 4, Moondrop Dusk (latter two you didn't review). I never tried hybrid IEM, do you think there is more value for me to go for a hybrid iem or just upgrade to S12 2024, since you deem it to be competitive with TOTL?
Yes, between all the IEMs that you mentioned, I gonna openly say S12 2024 is my personal choice IEM now to replace my longtime favorites of MP145 and SIVGA Nightingale. And I always recommend something that I personally use. Don't get me wrong, there's tons of super impressive IEMs now and we are spoilt for choices, can't really go wrong with any one of them really
That's iBasso DC07Pro. The highs is probably the very best anyone can expect for IEMs this year for outright performance and extension. The vocals were never recessed.
Hey I tried to find your friend Ben in UA-cam but couldn’t find his sound meow channel(if he has any). Can you please link it? I like his opinion too as well as yours. I have been following you since 2 months. Love your videos all the way from India🇮🇳
So S12 is better than MP143 OR MP145 right Andy? Is the standard LETSHUOER S12 the same as the S12 2024 8th Anniversary Edition - Gold Standard? I ask that as I am not in favor of the rose gold color. Thanks!
@@donglemadness I trust you Andy! I bought them! I will get them on the 11th (edit: of Nov 2024)! Pairing with the Onix Alpha. I love musicalilty, good bass and good treble.
Have a look at the rating in the video description and you will see this S12 2014 will have 3 point more overall score vs MP145. You can can also see where it improved in comparison to MP145
Hi, I want to buy an IEM and finalized 2 IEMs, S12 2024 and Ziigaat Arete, I don't have much preference as I am currently using QKZ HBB 20$ Iem, and planning to upgrade, my main purpose is mainly gaming and watching anime and bit of music listening. Please suggest one of these. Also I don't have any dac/amp. I will directly use them to my iphone using lightning to 3.5mm dongle and my macbook pro.
@@donglemadness hi Andy, I just bought this and DC07Pro. what setting of filter and gains are you using, and around what volume do you usually set the dc07 pro with the s12 2024?
FX17 coming Hybrid Electrostatic IEM from fiio defo i wondering review from you also new bluetooth earhook coming u should try with high-end iem with it need to learn results of sound quality with it.
To choose between the two of them, need to understand our own sound preferences. Cadenza 4 is a true neutral Harman IEM so the overall sound tuning offers more transparency and neutrality (flatter overall) which means S12 2024 is a bit more colored (very minimal coloration). S12 being a magnetic planar offers better transient speed and dynamic decays while Cadenza 4 offers crisp accuracy and precision rendering. In short both are amazing in what they were meant to offer, the user preferences will ultimately decide which one you will like more over the other
Different. Nightingale will remain special with that Mids centric sound and overall warmer than any of my other magnetic planars. Consider S12 2024 is something that bridges the gap between MP145 and Nightingale, I think you get the idea. S12 2024 is more technically adept than Nightingale for sure
If you already like EM6L and prefer something which is energetic then Estrella might suit you better, but if you want a flatter more transparent sound then S12 2024 is what I would choose
You just need to understand your own sound preferences. Both of these IEMs are tuned differently to cater for different sound appreciation. Mega5EST is clearly a Harman tuned IEM with emphasis on Subbass and suppressed Lower Mids, a bit more relaxed on the energy, S12 2024 on the other hand is a more traditional mild V curve with emphasis on balanced Midbass/Subbass and no suppression on lower Mids, overall faster dynamic transients because it is a magnetic planar - but it could also appear a bit brighter to people who are Treble sensitive. Understand your needs and you will find your answers
I personally haven't tried the S15 but with S12 2024 even outscoring the venerable MP145/MP143 by 3 points overall, it is safe to say S12 2024 is superior than S15
@@donglemadness I just ordered mine yesterday. It should be here in a few days and I’m gonna have Ron Jeremy in my pocket. Go figure. Have a good one. Be safe.
Sorry for having some doubts on your input regarding cables, and that's why I have a question about it: How do these different type of cables actually make a difference? I've seen posts from people saying that the cables don't make a sound difference and are only for aesthetics, yet reviewers that I like (especially you) really do notice it and say it can be a game changer. Really sorry for having some doubts, but I would really appreciate it if there's some explanation behind it.
It's simple really, trust what you hear. Some people hear differences in sound, and some don't, and it is perfectly fine. The only thing that matters is what you hear with your own ears. What is not okay, to downplay someone else because they hear differently from you. I have tested tons of equipment, and I describe what I hear, I heard differences in different configuration of cables, so does many other folks that I know. There's clear timbre temperament variance especially between SPC and OCC/OFC, some more prominent than others, some don't
@@donglemadness Thank you so much for taking your time to answer a random comment such as mine LOL. I really appreciate it, and needed it a lot! Guess it’s time for me to give cables a try to see for myself as well. Hopefully my comment didn’t sound like I’m downplaying your takes and thoughts upon testing IEM cables (tho now I can see it’s at risk for misinterpretation, after you mentioned it lol). Once again, thank you for the help and all the effort you have done for these videos, and for people like me who need guidance exploring this hobby! (idk a different term for this other than the IEM world so…)
I believe so. I personally haven't tried the S15 but with S12 2024 even outscoring the venerable MP145/MP143 by 3 points overall, it is safe to say S12 2024 is superior than S15
Hello Andy! I'd like to know if you heard about a popular IEM recently, called "LUCIFER" from ARTPICAL. I went to a few local hifi audio stores, they all said it's the best IEM in its price range, I really want to know you opinion on it, thanks! It's a DD driver IEM, looks distinctive, but the cavity is too small for me to block my ears, resulting in a loss of low frequencies. So I can't judge whether it's good or bad.
Excellent review. Your videos are the cure to my audiophile and Street photography itch, in one.

No worries. I am more inclined to suggest S12 2024 over Cadenza, unless of course you prefer a Harman sound curve of which S12 Pro is NOT Harman. Otherwise, both are already amazing IEMs in their own rights
Hi Andy, I was hoping you would even compare it to the Artti T10 and the NICEHCK F1pro...
☮️
I didn't compare it with T10s and F1Pro because the S12 2024 is clearly superior to my longtime favorite of MP145 and even the recently released MP143 (of which MP144/MP143 is already superior than T10s/F1Pro). They all shared the same speedy magnetic planar sound and scales amazing with power, just that S12 2024 is topping the chart now for being the topmost planar for 2024, period
@donglemadness Thank you, Andy...
I love my T10...
I just put my order in for the S12 2024 on Amazon and I should get it soon...
I can't wait.☮️
What filter did you use for this S12 2024 edition when pairing with Onix Alpha? Slow or nonoversampling?
I use the Slow filters for best balance of natural decays when used with ONIX Alpha XI
@@donglemadness thank you! 😀
@@donglemadnessis the s12 2024 better for vocals though? How does it compare to S08 when it comes to vocals?
Hi andy, is it worth to jump from kz linglong to here? I love the sound on my Linglong ❤️, i love dd bass can this s12 2024 be close to that dd bass sound?
Absolutely. S12 2014 is miles ahead better in every way compared to Linglong. You will love the fast yet natural sounding Bass of S12 2024
@@donglemadness for technical is it the same for estrella and S12 2024?
Thank you from Indo 🔥🔥👌
Hi Andy, how does the s 12 2024 compare to the tanchjim origin please? which in your opinion are better for classical, instrumental, jazz music? I have origin, should I change them to s12 2024
Origin has flatter overall sound curve and not as energetic or fast as S12 2024. Both I consider as exceedingly great with tuning. On a personal note, I prefer S12 2024 more for the super-fast, airy dynamic transients which is a hallmark of very well-tuned magnetic planars
Hi Andy, I received my s12 2024 yesterday. Question: Does a planar driver warm up over time or is this only true for dynamic drivers?
Not as much as dynamic drivers. My observation is that this 2024 S12 needed only a few hours of usage to bed in
Andy, which one you prefer the S12 2024 version to Final Audio A5000?
Very close, but now I am more fond of S12 2024
@@donglemadness for black/metal listening?
Andy what is your favorite foam tips to use with iem ??.....
KZ foam tips
@@donglemadness 👍 I am placing order now.. thanks Andy 🙏
3:36 what's the dac by onix alpha?
Also, how's the highs with with these news s12? Are vocals recessed still?
That's iBasso DC07Pro. The highs is probably the very best anyone can expect for IEMs this year for outright performance and extension. The vocals were never recessed.
@@donglemadness Thanks
hi andy is it goof for heavy metals and hard rock?
Yes absolutely
@@donglemadness even the regular version? not the pro version?
Hey I tried to find your friend Ben in UA-cam but couldn’t find his sound meow channel(if he has any). Can you please link it? I like his opinion too as well as yours. I have been following you since 2 months. Love your videos all the way from India🇮🇳
Ben does not have a UA-cam Channel, but if you Google SoundMeow, you will find his site
S12 vs s12 pro vs simgot ea1000. Which one does the community prefer more?
So S12 is better than MP143 OR MP145 right Andy?
Is the standard LETSHUOER S12 the same as the S12 2024 8th Anniversary Edition - Gold Standard?
I ask that as I am not in favor of the rose gold color.
Thanks!
The og S12 is good but not as refined as MP145, and now this S12 2024 tops them all
I just lost one side of my Supermix 4 while on vacay. Thinking about the Letshuoer S12 Anniversary to replace it and upgrade it. Is this the way?
Absolutely. I personally use S12 2024 regularly over many other IEMs, so yes it's a clear upgrade
@@donglemadness I trust you Andy! I bought them! I will get them on the 11th (edit: of Nov 2024)! Pairing with the Onix Alpha. I love musicalilty, good bass and good treble.
Does it beat the fabulous Sivga Nightingale (my fav and yours too) for metal music? Hopefully no, else i would have to spend more money!
Beat? no. They complement each other. The way I see it, S12 2024 replaces my MP145 and now I have three favorite planars in regular rotation
Looking at sound alone, which key areas of this s12 2024 do you think is more superior than the MP145?
Have a look at the rating in the video description and you will see this S12 2014 will have 3 point more overall score vs MP145. You can can also see where it improved in comparison to MP145
i have a tempotec sonata bhd (non pro) will it be enough for this iem?
Yes, should be no issues with power
Hi, I want to buy an IEM and finalized 2 IEMs, S12 2024 and Ziigaat Arete, I don't have much preference as I am currently using QKZ HBB 20$ Iem, and planning to upgrade, my main purpose is mainly gaming and watching anime and bit of music listening. Please suggest one of these. Also I don't have any dac/amp. I will directly use them to my iphone using lightning to 3.5mm dongle and my macbook pro.
Get S12 2024 and treat yourself with one of the very best this year yet. I personally use it as my main planar IEM now
If the S12 2024 is 90% of FA19, and S12 Pro is 90% of it, would you roughly say that the archaic S12 Pro is about 80% of FA19?
That sounds about right
I'm planning to buy this and another dongle dac. Which would be better for S12 2024, Onix Alpha, or DC07 Pro?
If you can spend up to $200, get DC07Pro, otherwise ONIX Alpha
@@donglemadness thanks!
@@donglemadness hi Andy, I just bought this and DC07Pro. what setting of filter and gains are you using, and around what volume do you usually set the dc07 pro with the s12 2024?
How does this compare to the Arete? I listen a lot to female vocal jpop and such. Thank you
Arete is more colored and less transparent compared to S12 2014 where S12 Pro has flatter more neutral Mids all the way to Lower frequency vs Arete
FX17 coming Hybrid Electrostatic IEM from fiio defo i wondering review from you also new bluetooth earhook coming u should try with high-end iem with it need to learn results of sound quality with it.
I keep my eyes on that one
How do you pick between cadenza4 and this one? I like listen to both male and female vocal
In short both are amazing in what they were meant to offer, the user preferences will ultimately decide which one you will like more over the other
are these better than sivga nightingale? I ordered.
Different. Nightingale will remain special with that Mids centric sound and overall warmer than any of my other magnetic planars. Consider S12 2024 is something that bridges the gap between MP145 and Nightingale, I think you get the idea. S12 2024 is more technically adept than Nightingale for sure
hey andy, i am planning to get an upgrade iem from em6l , which the best choice between s12 2024 or estrella ?
If you already like EM6L and prefer something which is energetic then Estrella might suit you better, but if you want a flatter more transparent sound then S12 2024 is what I would choose
Is it worth the upgrade if I already have an s12pro?
Yes
I am confused between Letshouer S12 2024 and Hisenior Mega5EST, and I have ONIX Alpha XI1, can you help me?
@@donglemadness Thank you so much. Okay, how is the difference in the technical aspect?
The nozzle looks wider on the 2024 compared to s12 pro, can you confirm the width?
Yes the 2024 is larger by almost 1mm compared to the S12Pro
Son that lunch of yours looks good!!!😯👍
Yummy indeed!
Im not an audiophile…could you explain how the s12 2024 is close to fa19 on performance?
Close in terms of overall resolution and imaging, 90% close to what FA19 delivers

Yes absolutely, I enjoy the S12 2024 a lot for my Extreme Metal playlist
How is this compared with EW300 Simgot?
No contest, S12 2014 is on a different league altogether
How would this compare to the Letshouer S15?
I personally haven't tried the S15 but with S12 2024 even outscoring the venerable MP145/MP143 by 3 points overall, it is safe to say S12 2024 is superior than S15

(idk a different term for this other than the IEM world so…)
32??? pfff.... we have 40 at summer
So it's also better than the unfamous S15
I believe so. I personally haven't tried the S15 but with S12 2024 even outscoring the venerable MP145/MP143 by 3 points overall, it is safe to say S12 2024 is superior than S15
32° is not hot.. Just normal..
Thanks for the heads up. I never heard of it but now I am interested, lol!
Really wondering how much better tech and resolution over my quartet, P1 max and dioko
Roughly around 10-20% better than those three
@@donglemadnessTy 🙏 Looks like they have a limited batch of these. Marketing getting to me 😅
