Speaking from multiple experiences... cameras only give you peace of mind being able to see the event and how it went down. They provide nothing for law enforcement. I've caught full faces on camera but who is going to spend the time and money tracking those people down? lol But seriously I've left things outside and they get stolen and I panic wondering if I left them at work or something but at least when I see the video I can say oh that's where it went. Shame on me for not living in a self contained bunker 2 miles underground.

If it has GPS, it has speed detection. This has been available on all GPS enabled dashcams since they first hit the market. Typically the user has the ability to toggle it on or off, in the event they don’t want speed logged.
The cig lighter port is just a simple on off connection. The cars obd2 port not only powers on off automatically. It actually allows direct communication from the cars main computer and to the device so humans can read what the car has to say. Obd2 port can distinguish when the car has been towed, disturbed as in bumped, leaned on or someone pulling on door handles or if car thinks it's been in a collision. Way more advanced than than on and off.
Those things are good i should have gotten my little brother one of those thing's cause my brother got his car robbed 2 year's ago when i was about to go pick up my glasses and before going to see black widow movie next day

If ring dash cam is powered even when the car engine is off, then it will record them breaking into the car. They can turn off the ring dash cam but it will still have been recorded and online. Of couse if they wear a mask then it is not as good. If the ring dash cam is not powered while the motor is off then it doesn't matter about the ring.

why not just have it plug into the cigarette lighter or have it be USB? Also other dash cams just use an SD card and no subscription needed.

If it works like other Ring products, no. All my Ring cameras power on within 10-15 seconds and continue right where they left off.

I ordered in February and have not got the camera yet. I just got my refund, after they sent me a email saying it won’t come until September.
And soon the police can send you court dates for your bad driving since they have free gestapo access to it
