Just finished Blackest Heart. Absolutely loved it, I’d put it up there with any Song of Ice and Fire book. Already preordered Lonesome Crown.

Wow your books are drippingly (if that's a word) good looking & pristine, they must be worth a fortune. Thanks for your reviews.

Read this series years ago and ready for a reread. I would love to find that hard cover with gorgeous artwork. I am reading Memory sorrow thorn right now. Just purchased Otherworld

Only the first book has a Michael Whelan cover. Annoying. The same thing has happened with his The Last King of Osten Ard. As the first 2 books had great Whelan covers and then they switched. Who makes these decisions? Great review. Be well, stay safe!

I remember reading these as they were released and, like you, enjoying them (though not as much as Memory Sorrow and Thorn). Tad Williams consistently blows me away.
I will have to pick them up again soon for a reread-thanks for digging up these classics for a new generation to enjoy.

Brian, will you be writing more books after The Lonesome Crown; another series perhaps?

I am just about to start these books. They have been on my shelf for years, but Skyrim got in the damn way of my reading. I was surprised how good the Otherland series was when not many people talk about it. Tad Williams book ranking next!! Also, we might need you to wear a Denver Broncos hat until we get that Lonesome Crown hardcover to match my set. Love the channel, and keep turning your pages!! Thanks Durfee!

I love Tad Williams' work! "Dragonbone Chair" was my first, gotten back when it was initially released, and it was completely engrossing! Thank, Brian!

Great review. I have been a fan of Tad Williams for years, reading Memory Sorrow and Thorn and the Otherland series. Have had this sitting all in hardcover for years on my TBR, that description of a cold winter read, just perfectly describes an enjoyable read. Now I have to fit them in right after Lonsome Crown!!

I'm too picky. I tried this and i just couldn't get into it. Not that the writing is bad. Another author I'd like to love but can't seem to get into.

Loved this series. It was so good. That first Whelan hardcover painting reminds me of another of his: In Conquest Born b C.S. Friedman. The original mmpb had two covers, one with Anzha on the front and Zatar on the back. The other cover had Zatar on front and Anzha on back. Loved the cover so much, and the book even more.

Silly question time: My hardcover copy has the brother on the spine panel, not the sister. Two versions?

I just found my copy of the dragonbone chair and stone of farewell haven't read since late 90s
I'm sure these are great I remember loving tad Williams
Looking for the cold fire trilogy I've read those are least four times in my top ten trilogies I wish the cold fire trilogy could be adapted for film would be amazing
The book started sounding familiar I might have read
I've read so many fantasy books I'll pick one up and get half way through and realize I read it
Have you ever read or reviewed the the complete book of swords by I believe fred saberhagen I red them in the early 90s remember them fondly

Jeremy I would put Brian’s books, the Five Warrior Angels at the top of your TBR, it is so great and most like Memory, Sorrow & Thorn but darker and faster paced. I have listened to them on Audio books and will wait until May for the Lonesome Crown third book on audio… the book comes out on 11/29/22
