This seems like a good crayfish boil. Taking your time and attention to detail makes all the difference. Props to captain Ronnie for sharing his talents. He is one of my favorites from swap people.
As long as i been boiling crawfish (like bass fishing) I’m always looking for some tips-using frozen corn to finish off a pot of crawfish (instead of ice)is a good one-one for you is put potatoes in a smaller basket to boil them as its a lot easier than fishing them out one at a time-also if my son is not around I’m gonna try the orange juice and pineapple juice trick lol
When I-10 was first being built my grandfather was a young man and he lived in New Orleans but worked in Gulfport he used to have to take old 190 all the way then when I-10 finally opened he took it. the first couple of years there were massive traffic jams because during a certain period the crawfish would migrate across I-10 and there would be cars parked all over the place with shovels scooping up the crawfish as they traveled across the highway. It would have been nice if they left some of it elevated as to not interfere with the migration.
“Just the Mow”… that I-10 area was between Michoud Blvd exit and ‘No Name Turn Around’! Last times I remember was between 1973-1984! ALSO the ponds on West-side of old Hwy. 11❤❤
I agree with you about the liquid crawfish boil quantity. You do not need an entire bottle like a lot of bloggers show in their videos. Less is enough,
I'm in the Pacific North West. I lived in Louisiana for several years. A good portion in Convent, LA. That was the 80s. We always caught our own, but a 40-45 lb sack was $30 (to friends) and $40-$45 to everyone else... We thought those prices were robbery, LOL! Imagine getting them at those prices, now! $300 packages shipped to my place, now... "A hot item" doesn't begin to describe their popularity today. Better for those people in the business, but.., Man -- Oh -- Man! That's some spicy mudbug prices! But! That "Put it on a cracker!" -- "That's money!" dude..? He had a tip that makes sense. Save and freeze some of the boil water. Add it in to cool the bugs. It doesn't dilute your spices...
@@OutsidetheLevees Yes of course! We have a tradition called ”Kräftskiva” and it takes place in august, any day in august is ok. We boil it traditionally with loads of dill. But most swedes by frozen turkish or chinese crawfish, where they make it the ”swedish way”. Because swedish crawfish goes for like $25-$30 / 2.2 pounds.
Man I appreciate it so much. Stay tuned it’s gonna be a busy fall. We will do a lot of duck hunting but there will be hog hunting and shrimping as well
Louisiana born and raised new subscriber here. I'm very appreciative of videos that portray our unique Louisiana lifestyles. I believe your channel, along with Kendall Frederick, are exceptional examples of our culture. Brother, I agree that there's very little flavor added when using fresh onions, garlic, and lemons. In my opinion, they soak up some of the seasoning that should be for the crawfish. I do use bottled onion, garlic, and lemon juices...still don't know if it adds to the taste though....but i just can't help myself. I've never added orange and pineapple juices but will do so next time because I just can't keep myself from tinkering with it, lol. Also, if you haven't done it before, cut the bottom and top off a whole pineapple and throw it in when you drop the crawfish or during the soak...just depends on how spicy you want it. The salty sweetness of the pineapple is my favorite part of the boil! Bro, keep it up and God bless you and all us Cajun folk in our awesome state of Louisiana!
Thank you so much. I agree that Kendall is one of the best for our culture. If you have time also checkout Nate Verdin's channel "Falling Tide TV". He is as real as it gets. Couldn't agree more on the crawfish boil stuff. I just figure it already costs so much to do it, why not cut cost where you can. But that's just me. God bless!
I absolutely love your channel and I also love many types of seafood too eat, mostly cooked but some RAW?. And next week I'm about to be a 59 year old Homeless man living in his 2006 Honda Odyssey that I'm making very livable for me, right now I live in Michigan but I'm hoping to get on I-65 and make my way south???.
I like spicy so I use the whole bottle of the liquid crawfish boil for that amount of water. We do a handful of lemons, potatoes, sausage, corn, and the best part, mushrooms.
Lots of frogs an turtles in their also it's a great spot I uses to fish a spot like that in Louisiana also hard to find one your not trespassing on nowadays
You have more common sense when it comes to cooking crawfish than the majority of youtubers I've seen. I saw one city cajun pour ketchup on his crawfish and stirred it around after he dumped them. Everyone trying something new trying to get likes.
From Pierre part and rolling crawfish anything over 2 minutes is crazy, and early season I don’t even boil them I just let that pot start to foam and cut it off they peel perfectly
All my boils I have a gallon jug of water pre frozen in milk jug and drop that in to stop boil when fire is cut off. Now when that jug has melted and done its job, I just put it back in the freezer for next boil. Key here is to not have too much crabs crawfish or shrimp in pot so there is room for the frozen jug. .
Can you do more shows with captain Ronny get him to talk about who taught him how to hunt and catch stuff ne is lay back but smart wwe like him hear in michigan my whole family watch the show now your channel aswell thank you

In most waters it's safer to have the traps sticking out of the water, they will definitely drown
